Looks like you all had a fun time. Always cool to see kids out with mom and dad, bouncing around! The trail may not be too challenging, but it's still pushes me and my little samurai with its two inch lift and 28 inch tires. 31 inch does have a way of making Sedona's most popular trails feel like well manicured fire roads.

It’s such a gorgeous area. I haven’t seen a samurai on a trail in a long time, with the wheelbase 28-31s seem about perfect, I can’t imagine going any taller!

The trail is easy but you won't find this kind of scenery anywhere else. Don't go up there on the weekends, or near popular holidays. I take out of town family here since it's easy for them it's a thrill kids won't get bored long runs.

are you lifted in the LC100? or 33" tires? you bang any bumpers or sliders?
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 2 жыл бұрын
I did not bang on this trail, but watch my Golden Spike 3 part series to see that I do but bumpers on extreme terrain. 34" tires on an OME heavy lift (2.5")

Do you think a Jeep Renegade trailhawk could do it?
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 2 жыл бұрын
Clearance would be the only issue. I never wheeled a renegade, so I couldn't say for sure.
@gunduzhan2
@gunduzhan2 4 жыл бұрын
Decent ground clearance can be relative. ;) 9.8" height clearance enough? 25 degree approach angle in front and 25 in back. I'm debating it. Not like a G wagon abou 30 degree in front 30 degree in back.
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 4 жыл бұрын
What are you thinking of taking? I would prefer closer to 30 on approach, but the ground clearance number should be fine

Forgotten Waypoints it’s a Mercedes GLE Coupe. Didn’t have any issues on the snowy trails of Colorado, but unsure if the current tires have the right grip. Unfortunately I’m limited on tire selection to one winter, which is very good, and one all season Continental SportContact LX. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWjSe2SMi7ypndk It’s actually 26 front approach and 27 degrees rear departure angle. This video is the actual car and the trail from devils bridge parking area. Love your videos. Very helpful all around.

33s on the Lexus with stock suspension?

Actually it's 34's (275/75/17) with the AHC replaced with an HD OME lift. You can tell it's an HD by how stiff the rear moves when going down the steps. We added extended swaybar links in the rear to help with some of the roughness and it did, but to cure it completely we need to finish adding our armor and gear to the rear. We had to pinch-weld mod the front (I still need to do some hammering on the passenger side) in order for the large tires to turn and flex without rubbing. I do not have spacers, just the offset from the 17" icon wheels. The tires tuck nicely within the fender wells. We live in Ranch country, so the trend of "wide stance" tracks doesn't work for us, it just throws cow manure all over your door handles! Best keep the wheels tucked under the fenders in my country! Even unloaded, the suspension is awesome!

8LIFGR8 4x4 What were the stock tires, 265/65 R17? The HD Old Man Emu lift is 1.5-2 inches?

@@DaciaProject , my LX470 had stock 275/60R18's on it when I bought it (31"x10.8"). My chrome rims had corrosion and looked like it needed to be replaced (it was throwing weights). So we went with Icon 17's. Honestly, or original plan was to use the bigger LX stock as a family vehicle and build up the GX470 because it's smaller and has coil springs up front. The smaller rig is ideal for the trails we like (I hate hugging edges!). But since I had to spend money on rims, we went with the Icon 6-speeds and figured we'd just build up the LX. No regrets so far! Check out our Toquerville falls video to see the difference between the stock LX470 on AHC "high" setting with 31s, and the LX470 with HD OME lift on 34s. I have some better video clips of the stock suspension that I'll upload later for our planned "Project LX" miniseries where I will go over the mods as I build up the platform. Do you have a 100 series? kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3vIk6B7gp6aadE

8LIFGR8 4x4 Thanks for the info and I’ll check the other videos. I’m American but live in Europe and am in the market for a Toyota Landcruiser Prado (a GX470). They come with 265/65 R17 and I’m looking to put a 2 inch lift on it and possibly 275/75 R17 Cooper ST Maxx. Growing up my father had six Landcruisers, two of each of the 60s, 80s and 100 series.
