Thank you! Offerings have tripped me up for the longest. They are do little discussed. Thank you for giving us ideas about how to dispose of them, and especialy the feelings behind them. I myself have been scared away by worrying about pleasung a God, and most offerings are done differently in every trafition. There is also that fear of honoring thpse traditions right. I've realized it is the same way we host a gathering. We offer them something, but they don't have to take it. Most teach us to try harder if they don't take it, but this is putting wxectation on gifts. It can be awkward purchasing something in a world that is based on materialism and no waste. Some families might be alarmed to see you crumble a perfectly gpod cookie in the dirt, so sometimes we are forced to be descrete. If sp I myself worry that I have not pleased my diety. I tend yo leave candy and would love to leave money, but never quite new what to fo with them after: My family whp passed wpuld not want me to waste, so O simplle place it in a jar for anyone to eat, but I wpuld not do this with everybody. I think listening to your heart and honoring their memory will put ypu in the right direction. Relaxing from all the facts helps. So interested to see what others think.

I can certainly understand your concerns and I think it is important to follow your feelings concerning offerings. It is my belief that if you offer something from a place of love to a deity it would be difficult to offend them. I think motivation for the offering is important to consider. I completely agree with the idea that we can offer something, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will be accepted. Each of us will approach offerings from a different perspective depending on our culture and upbringing so I think it would benefit us to follow our hearts. Much love to you.

Growing up Hindu, a lot of the time when we give food offerings to a diety we consumed it since it was then considered blessed. It was always a sign of disrespect to throw away the food. so even when I work outside of the Hindu pantheon It doesn’t feel right to not consume it. obviously I still take into consideration the needs to each deity separately but I’ve noticed that the ones I have worked with do not mind.

I like the idea of consuming the food you've left for deity. Thank you for sharing! Much love!

It seemed like an easy offering for me to give considering who I am offering them to. :)

I also give offerings to the spirits and the ancestors that I work with. With the spirits sometimes I'll be out shopping and see an item that I feel the spirits will enjoy.

Did you ever go through gut sense/feeling? To give your specific offerings? This was really nice I use all kinds of different things based on what they lived in life. I try to add my own touch and feel to as my own also in a form from me to show appreciation & gratitude for being a part of me for my past on loved ones.

I do get a sense or feeling as to what is being asked for ... sometimes it's not an item I would have considered, but I follow that feeling and offer it.

I've been giving a Spritz of perfume( on a potpourri bowl) to my Goddess as of late after hearing that she would now accept it.
