When I went, back in the '80s, my parents got discounted Disney World tickets for the off season which were about twice the price of a theater ticket so it wasn't bad at all... although they complained about those concession prices... anyway. I think at some point int he '90s Disney stopped having off seasons so those discounts went away, but by then I'd enlisted and went to boot camp... in Orlando, which allowed me to visit Disney World one last time and sample all the other new theme parks with a nice active service discount. Navy's Orlando boot camp is best boot camp.

I went to Disney World once when I was 13, went on the tower of terror, and when I got off, I was doing some window shopping when my nose started bleeding profusely. It was the first time this had ever happened, and I had consistent nose bleeds after that for two years before we discovered my wisdom teeth were growing into my nasal cavity and causing the bleeds. But like. spoopy that it started as soon as I got off the tower of terror. I thought I was cursed, my sister kept trying to touch my face and squirming, my mom started crying because she thought I was gonna die. Good times. I went on the tower of terror three more times the next day.

Not scary, but really stupid from a design standpoint. Having the faces be projections causes more problems than a built-in face. Sometimes the screens don't work, and those on the ride are left with Slenderman versions of Elsa and Anna. I'll never understand why they thought it was a good idea.

I think I was 8 years old when I went on that alien ride the first and only time. The way the ride “breaks down” and the cast member who shows up feels SOOOOO real. He says something like, “Is everyone okay?” and then some recorded voices respond, “Yes.” But I thought it was real so I called back to him. I don’t remember what I said but I was close to tears.

I think Hong Kong did some other scary mazes that weren’t related to Disney characters. There was a haunted hotel, spooky jungle, haunted school, something related to the headless horseman, and a Halloween town one that was more cute than scary. I don’t know if they still do it or not but they looked cool.

Scariest thing I ever experienced personally was actually the Mystery Tour because I had just gotten a grasp on Japanese to speak it somewhat better than functionally but not fluently. So when the Horned King gives that speech I’m thinking I’m going crazy, there is no way this could be what he’s actually saying. And I wasn’t a novice to scary Disney rides since Snow White’s Scary Adventure was definitely more than a little messed up.

The Nigel moon on Journey Into Imagination is the definition of creepy. Nightmare Experiment? Sounds cool, HK Disneyland is really trying to stand out from having this to the cute Mickey MTR train, Mystic Manor, constructing a much better castle, Arendelle coming soon, and Iron Man Experience. It did NOT deserve to bomb as hard as it did. Audiences today are much more interested in darker stories than they were in the 80s, and Disney now owns plenty of properties that aren't completely child-friendly, so who knows...now might be the time although once this pandemic's over, audiences might want to avoid morbid things again...it's never easy, is it?

I went to Disneyland when I was 6. My uncle put me on his shoulders and took me into the haunted mansion promising to get me a treat. I had no idea what this ride was so I just went along with it like most 6 year olds do. When we went in Streaching Room, and started to go down, I think I started to choke him because I was getting pretty scared. When the lightning flashed, revealing the hanging courpse of (if I remember correctly) Mr. Hightop. When 6 year old me saw him, I started screaming bloody murder and crying really loudly and begging him to take me OUT! That's all I remember but the traumatized me for 1 day and now, 8 years later I ALWAYS have to ride the Haunted Mansion atleast 6-7 times 🤣. As someone who’s spent a lot of time at Hong Kong Disneyland, it always makes me happy when you use the mystic manor music :) On the topic of scary things- HK Disney frequently does walkthrough events for Halloween, with cast members playing parts instead of animatronics. They’re generally very immersive and creepy, and I remember being utterly terrified by their 2007 haunted hotel as a child. There’s not that much on the internet about these as far as I can tell, though there are a few promotional videos can give you the gist.

@@trevorpacelli8056 Make no mistake, people saw it in 1959, but it wasn't complete full houses for months on end. The movie cost a fortune to make from the technical aspects of the picture themselves including the cameras used to shoot it. This isn't even counting the tremendous costs of heavy commercials and merchandise that would make the last two fairy tale films Cinderella and Snow White look quaint. Big production and commercials can pay off, but they are a big risk, especially in the movie making business. Fortunately Disneyland became a success a couple of years beforehand. The aforementioned movies had everything riding on them.

The whole dead body hanging by his neck at the beginning of Haunted Mansion is pretty awful. It's my favorite ride but I hate that part and I never look up. My uncle died from suicide in the same manner and I do a lot of volunteer work for the AFSP. I don't think suicide has a place in the "Happiest Place on Earth." I wish they would remove that part.

I think the entire concept and theming of the Disneyland Jungle Cruise is very scary and morbid. Even in the radio broadcast, it says that when it comes to sleeping sickness, prevention is the only cure. There's so much death in that ride. That must be the reason why the Skippers have to tell jokes, because if you thought twice about what was actually happening in those scenes, it would not be a fun ride at all.

I can affirm that the universal studios Hollywood haunted house thing was pretty scary even for me as a teen. And I actually went to haunted houses pretty much ever year as a teen. I don't remember off the top of my head if there was more, but it was definitely atmospheric and the scary part was really the anticipation of when the scare was coming

Hey Dallin... Were you for real when you said you've never been to Universal? I was at first like "yeah he's being sarccy" but then my mind started to blow up with the thought of you never going through the arches or past the lighthouse. Regardless - your channel is Offhand DISNEY but I'm sure a lot of your viewers wouldn't be opposed to you covering Universal attractions somewhere. Might be handy if you're looking for a fresh load of content when you eventually run out of ideas. However... you impress me every time with so much more detail on the Haunted Mansion, Pirates Of The Caribbean and many others!!! P.S more coverage of Tower Of Terror I'd like way more than Universal. I'm a huge fan of it 😂 Anyway... Thank you so much for all of your videos. They're so good and detailed and your humour is perfect 👌

I was a kid (under 10)when alien encounter came out and loved it. The shoulder bars pressing down a bit, warm mist from supposed blood spray and the air spritz like it's breathing on you neck before licking the back of you head was epic. It was a shame my kids missed it. I showed them old video recording and they said they would of loved it.

Straight up--for years going on the old "America Sings" attraction (built into the original "Carousel Of Progress" ) at Disneyland really creeped me out given that just weeks after "America's" opening a ride hostess was actually crushed to death when the "rotating" auditorium shifted into the next section and she got caught between the walls. In light of such happy thoughts I was glad when "Innoventions" moved into the space eliminating the entire (outdated) rotating theater concept once and for all!

Another good video! I think the Carnotaurus charging the time rover is still a pretty scary thing. Also, the old evil queen/hag in Snow White's Scary Adventures. For me as a kid growing up in the late 70's to early 80's, the original attic scene in the Haunted Mansion with the old pop up ghost heads scared the living crap out of me. It scared me so much that a few times, my parents would have me wait outside while they went on the ride. Now, the Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride, and I really miss those pop up ghosts.

Those are legit all I can think of. EDIT: oh and the jaguar in Tarzan's treehouse that roars WAY too loud, definitely got me to jump every time growing up

The room at 4:51 reminds me of a scene from Bioshock Infinite. That room looks a lot like the rooms where you find Elizabeth living her life. Kinda creepy, actually. The doll at 5:20 reminds me of the characters in Among the Sleep. This is a game where you play a 3 year child and explore his imagination as he tries to find his mother. Many of the things he sees look like that doll.
