It is especially hard when we live in a culture that holds Romeo and Juliet as the grand synonym of romance. But when you think about it, those two were completely out of their minds. (and they even killed themselves at the end to prove it!) Besides most people having toxic values of what relationships should look like, you also have to factor in catcallers everywhere, singles putting up highlight reels of themselves, and widespread stories of one night stands, relationship abuse, rape, and/or sexual harassment all over the media. You simply won't be able to tell who is genuine and who is not, because they all approach in similar ways.
