Reuben's Deli, New York In 1914, a hungry actress named Annette Seelos visited the New York Jewish deli and asked for a filling sandwich. The owner, Reuben, or his chef, improvised the recipe and created the Reuben's Special.

Lol that rant at the end by Daz, I know that feel. My wife and I visited Philly for work a while ago and when we came back to California and tried to get a cheesesteak, just not the same. It's funny because a lot of places (even here now in the PNW) try and put their own spin on it with additions when I just want the traditional like what Josh had in this video. I totally feel him when he complains about the lack of salt/seasoning on the meats though.

And I'm sure there are people that don't order their Italian Beef with cheese, but I don't know any. And get the giardiniera on the side! As for the Philly Cheese Steaks... I had one made from thin sliced ribeyes, and I would never eat it any other way. I've made my own that way, and all the ones on his list looked gross by comparison - although the winning sandwich looked REALLY good, it didn't look as good as one made with ribeyes.

I've also never had any of their sandwiches, I've always been there for dinner, not lunch. I never had a bad meal there, in the front part, the old bar section, there's a wall with awards on it for their servers and some of these guys have worked there for 40+ years. I took my parents there when they came to visit me one year, we had dinner upstairs and they had the Flamenco Dancers show, it was a good time. I miss ya mom and dad. You gotta go to Reading Terminal Market, trust me. You could spend a month in there and still not try every delicious item in store. Truly magnificent. Some say the Roast Pork sandwich is greater than the cheesesteak. Give it a shot and see for yourself. Also, the best thing about cheesesteaks is there is no one-way to order it, you get it the way you want it and all is good. It's all about your own personal preference, brother. Take care and cheers!

Even in NY, nobody makes a great cheesesteak like they do in PA. (not just phili, you can find great ones in lots of pizzaria's in central to eat PA) I think the biggest mistake people make is that the beef comes out dry, and they don't mix in the cheese with the beef WHILE it's cooking, they add it in after the fact. The cheese is suppose to blend in and fuse with the beef.

14:26 To quote a 1980s Wendy's commercial "Where's the beef?" That sandwich looks like 💩 all I see are two green peppers and a little pinch of beef. Is there any slightest bit of beef underneath the peppers? So he gave that sandwich an eight out of ten because the beef is nice (what little bit of beef I see) even though he said the peppers were super overcooked (which they don't even look cooked at all to me) and mushy and the bread was completely obliterated and he said it was a mushy mess. It just looks like a green pepper sandwich.

Anybody who doesn’t believe me do your own research. I learned from research and some training I had to do for the shrimping license I once had. Shrimp loses half its flavor in 10 minutes after leaving the water. So you have 2 choices immediately cook it and eat it on the boat or immediately flash freeze it on the boat. It’s the one exception fresh seafood is the best not with shrimp. Also shrimp and prawns are not the same. Like I said look it up for yourselves
