HQ2 will probably be much more modest than this video suggests. They've paused construction on a lot of it. The whole process of Amazon asking for cities to bid on the project was just a way for them to find out what were the best locations to put fulfillment centers in and to extort the most subsidies.

I'm originally from Cincinnati Ohio. The Brent Spence bridge carries Interstate 75 (a major north/south route) over the Ohio river. The problem is that the exit and entrance ramps are very short and require cutting across lanes of traffic in very short distances. There's no pull off lane. If a car breaks down, it can't get off the road. Also, the bottom level has the highway signs up in the overhead girders. So, you have to look up to read the signs while cutting across lanes at freeway speeds. They've been supposed to do something for this bridge for about 25 years. It's about damned time!

Speaking of our danger noodle pals aka nope ropes aka SNEK! Several nights ago I was walking in a friend's yard, which is quite rural, with the only light being nearby over the front door/porch area. After several steps I stopped and stood still, turned to look towards the light and then forward again, before looking downward. At first I only saw a small, relatively thick patch of clover, but it didn't look right, almost blurred, and upon a bit of further investigation, I realized the "blur" was the front half of an imo immature Eastern Copperhead, which if unaware is most certainly venomous. One more step and I'd have been right on top of it, a thought I was not fond of, not one iota. Gathering my wits that had become scattered about due to exposure to this new notorious and none too kind Slytherin brand of bippity boppity, I slowly backed away and to my left, eager for the less accessible and hopeful safe haven of the porch. 😅

Sorry Gaynor, but planting seeds from an apple is not going to produce the same variety of apple tree that the seeds came from, that's not how genetics for apples work. Apples are not true to seed. You could plant 50 seeds from the same apple tree, and you would get 50 different varieties of baby trees, most likely all cider apple varieties and none like the parent tree. You would have to get a graft (live cutting grafted onto a root system from another tree) made from the specific tree that you want. That has been the method used for apple trees and other types of fruit trees for centuries, as it is the only way to get the desired variety.

Just to fact check the statement about zero emissions from electric cars in Texas, that is false. Electric cars are not zero emissions. Electric cars simply produce their emissions somewhere else. Then, convert the emissions into electricity so you can run your car. They have broken down the engine into two parts. The first part of the engine is the coal burning electric plants. The second part of the engine is in the car. It's quite a magician act how they convinced everyone that electric cars are zero emissions. You're just shifting the dirt somewhere else is all you're doing.
@mycroft16
@mycroft16 Жыл бұрын
No one actually thinks the process of powering an electric car is zero emission. Everyone knows the power comes from a power plant somewhere. Or solar/wind. However, it has been conclusively shown that the process of charging a car battery costs far less in emissions than does driving an internal combustion engine on top of the extraction and refinement of the petroleum to gasoline. So while the process isn't 100% emission free, the vehicle itself is (cleaning the air within the city and around roads), and the overall process is cleaner as well.

ST3, the train system in Seattle, is a massive waste of money. I was shocked when our voters approved it. It's going to end up costing a lot more than 54 billion by the time it's done and won't do anything substantial for our traffic issues. The shady people who proposed it even said so in their reports. It MIGHT take 2 or 3% of the cars off of the roads and will primarily take commuters off of buses and put them on trains. It barely covers any of the region. It doesn't spiderweb out like NY's subways, it just goes north and south with a couple of east-west branches. These idiots even have free minivan shuttles to get riders closer to the trains. It's such a dumb idea and a colossal waste of our money. They could've just increased the bus service 5 fold and achieved a greater effect for a sliver of the price. We have dumb voters here.

They totally ignored any military procurement projects, which make those costs seem like nothing. They also ignored totally NASA's Artemis project for a more permanent presence on the moon which , altogether, will cost at least around 100 billion dollars. In short these are consumer infrastructure megaprojects, and that's what this video should have been titled : "Some of the Top US Infrastructure Projects". Arguably, MOST of these do not fit under the name of "Mega Project" which is supposed to refer to things that push engineering and technology to their limits, by making the biggest, the fastest, the most powerful, etc. (edited to clarify what a megaproject is.
