Edmonton in the summer is actually called festival city, we have a ton of different events happening including a Fringe Festival (the oldest in North America - 1982) that is the next biggest in the WORLD after the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We also have the most city trails in North America, most of which are in our river valley, but the Oilers are big partially because of the Gretzky dynasty and the hockey culture in Canada.

Bobrovsky has a history of being a streaky goalie. When he first broke into the NHL with Flyers he had a reputation for playing brilliant for a handful of games, and then playing terribly for the next several games. He also was a strange cookie on and off the ice. That is why the Flyers let him walk. Now that was a long time ago, and he has steadied his game a bit, but he has always been tabbed as a streaky player. It will be really interesting to see how he does the rest of the series.

Sometimes the announcers here on ESPN will mention how fast a slap shot was, but I never notice any graphic that actually appears on the screen that notes the speed. So they obviously have the technology to track the speed but dont feel that it's important enough to throw up on the screen. I remember a while back, like 15-20 years ago (probably not ESPN at that time, more like FOX or NBC) and the shot mph graphics were rather common, but that sort of died out here with the American broadcasts. I always thought that particular graphic was for more casual fans to Ooh and Aah at. Edmonton also has a great and long standing CFL team, much older than the Oilers. [75 years vs 45 years]. From 1979 to 1983, they won 5 consecutive championships (Grey Cups). Interesting: 1983 was the beginning of the Oilers Cup dynasty (with Gretz and the gang). At that time, Edmonton was a football town. Attendance over 62,000 for most games. Then came 1983 and something miraculous happened. In April, the 5 year old Edmonton Oilers won their 1st Stanley Cup and in November, the 40 year old Edmonton Eskimos won their 5th in a row Grey Cup. What a year, what a story, what the fuck... and that's why Edmonton is known as the 'City of Champions '. I just thought you ought to know.

Also, Toronto is the centre of the hockey universe.. but yeah, Edmonton holds on to more of those iconic Canadianisms that you'd expect. Toronto is the most culturally diverse city on the Planet, so the crowd tends to get mixed more a bit.. but if the Stanley Cup Finals FINALLY come back to that city, you watch how many band wagon jumpers blow the roof off of that place haha.. there's a lot of fair weather fans out there and The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't had much fair weather in the playoffs in longer than I like to admit. ( Leafs are my team, but I always loved and rooted for the West Coast teams after the Leafs games would wrap up on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights. . Also, the honeymoon period after the 80s Oilers was during my childhood years, so they're my number 2 team.. but I want any Canadian team to take the cup when it gets to this time of year.. Go Oilers Go!! ) plus, McDavid deserves it.. this would be quite a chapter in the history books if they can pull it off. Only done once before , way back in 1942 by Toronto. Insane.

This is what that city needs and I'm stoked (I live in Victoria, BC now). I believe there's an Edmonton in the UK there somewhere so I'm hoping that city is cheering for the Oilers too. Tkachuk pretty much guaranteed they'd win game 5, he tried. Great save on his part but still can't stand the guy though. Edmonton has the Edmonton Eskimos football team too (North American), but they've been sucking ass for awhile now so little fanfare. I'd bet 99% of the people in Florida have never laced them up, while in Edmonton, that would be more like 20%.

@@JT.Pilgrim Just because a team is old doesn't make their fans the best. Maybe next time include "in my opinion " when making statements. Cause it's just that...an opinion. Many fans would disagree with you. Have a wonderful day.

@@TheTimbo911 social media is precious. So are you, precious. Here is my opinion. Most people would connect the dots and realize it doesn’t have to be expressed that it’s my opinion. It’s implicit when i speak or express. More FYI. Same is true for you and everyone. Now grow up and stop making stupid issues.

@JT.Pilgrim in New World or in reality would anyone say that Toronto has the best fans, or the most loyal

If Leafs tickets weren't so outrageous in price. The crazy fan's like myself would go to a lot more game's than we do. On that note Go Oilers..I mean I'm Canadian😂😂

mcdavid has 42 points in these playoffs which is the fourth highest total ever behind only gretzky (twice) and lemieux, if it goes to seven it's possible he could break the record (47). mcdavid just had back-to-back 4 point games, the first player ever to do that in a finals series. as a series progresses skinner, in these playoffs, gets better while bobrovsky gets worse in all previous rounds. in all previous series skinner is 9-0 in games 4-7. the panthers may have a problem. the ice in edmonton is a lot faster than in florida where it's soft and slow. the next game should be crazy.

Don't underestimate McDavid. He could break the record in game 6.
