The ice quality was terrible in this game. That's why you see the players constantly tripping and falling. Florida in June is problematic when it comes to having good ice.

Edmonton in the summer is actually called festival city, we have a ton of different events happening including a Fringe Festival (the oldest in North America - 1982) that is the next biggest in the WORLD after the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We also have the most city trails in North America, most of which are in our river valley, but the Oilers are big partially because of the Gretzky dynasty and the hockey culture in Canada.

Bobrovsky has a history of being a streaky goalie. When he first broke into the NHL with Flyers he had a reputation for playing brilliant for a handful of games, and then playing terribly for the next several games. He also was a strange cookie on and off the ice. That is why the Flyers let him walk. Now that was a long time ago, and he has steadied his game a bit, but he has always been tabbed as a streaky player. It will be really interesting to see how he does the rest of the series.

Sometimes the announcers here on ESPN will mention how fast a slap shot was, but I never notice any graphic that actually appears on the screen that notes the speed. So they obviously have the technology to track the speed but dont feel that it's important enough to throw up on the screen. I remember a while back, like 15-20 years ago (probably not ESPN at that time, more like FOX or NBC) and the shot mph graphics were rather common, but that sort of died out here with the American broadcasts. I always thought that particular graphic was for more casual fans to Ooh and Aah at. Most hard-core fans will know the importance of so many other factors like screens, deflections, timing, rebounds, etc.

Edmonton also has a great and long standing CFL team, much older than the Oilers. [75 years vs 45 years]. From 1979 to 1983, they won 5 consecutive championships (Grey Cups). Interesting: 1983 was the beginning of the Oilers Cup dynasty (with Gretz and the gang). At that time, Edmonton was a football town. Attendance over 62,000 for most games. Then came 1983 and something miraculous happened. In April, the 5 year old Edmonton Oilers won their 1st Stanley Cup and in November, the 40 year old Edmonton Eskimos won their 5th in a row Grey Cup. What a year, what a story, what the fuck... and that's why Edmonton is known as the 'City of Champions '. I just thought you ought to know.

Are you guys gonna react to game 6? That was a good one. Hopefully The Oilers can bring the Cup back to Canada. It's been a long, long time. Much love from Canada 🇨🇦 ps> love the channel. Also, Toronto is the centre of the hockey universe.. but yeah, Edmonton holds on to more of those iconic Canadianisms that you'd expect. Toronto is the most culturally diverse city on the Planet, so the crowd tends to get mixed more a bit.. but if the Stanley Cup Finals FINALLY come back to that city, you watch how many band wagon jumpers blow the roof off of that place haha.. there's a lot of fair weather fans out there and The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't had much fair weather in the playoffs in longer than I like to admit. ( Leafs are my team, but I always loved and rooted for the West Coast teams after the Leafs games would wrap up on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights. . Also, the honeymoon period after the 80s Oilers was during my childhood years, so they're my number 2 team.. but I want any Canadian team to take the cup when it gets to this time of year.. Go Oilers Go!! ) plus, McDavid deserves it.. this would be quite a chapter in the history books if they can pull it off. Only done once before , way back in 1942 by Toronto. Insane.

Saw Gretzky, Messier and co skate the Cup around the ice when I was a kid and had to go through the 2006 run so I've been with the team since I could crawl, and have witnessed it all (family has had season tickets since the WHA). This is what that city needs and I'm stoked (I live in Victoria, BC now). I believe there's an Edmonton in the UK there somewhere so I'm hoping that city is cheering for the Oilers too. Tkachuk pretty much guaranteed they'd win game 5, he tried. Great save on his part but still can't stand the guy though. Edmonton has the Edmonton Eskimos football team too (North American), but they've been sucking ass for awhile now so little fanfare. I'd bet 99% of the people in Florida have never laced them up, while in Edmonton, that would be more like 20%.

Pro tip.. when reviewing a hockey game like this always do it from the winning teams commentary not the panthers because you will never see close up replays because they dont care

Edmonton has the Eskimos(renamed now as the Elks). Unfortunately they need to get better again. The Edmonton Eskimos had the longest streaks of being in the playoffs of any sports team for over 50yrs until over several yrs ago. As for being the best player, compared to other athletes in different sports, with the speed and distance they're playing on the ice, McDavid has the fastest reaction time&best hand to eye coordination and considered the best athlete in the world.

The Eskies went woke and went broke. I haven't watched a game since the name change, and most fans haven't either. Get woke, go broke. Fuck the "elks".

I am From Edmonton We are all Die hard Oiler fans Oilers for Life We Bleed Orange & Blue, Best NHL Hockey Fans in the World ask anyone in any City. McDavid top speed has Been recorded at 43 km/h. Edmonton Oilers Shook Bobrovsky in Game 4 & 5 they also out shot Florida in general they will win next game 6 in Edmonton and 7 they figured how to get it passed him. Plus a tip from Gretzky on air helped them to stay away from his glove side unless it's a high corner shot over his glove. Edmonton Oilers are just warming up to take the cup back to Canada after a 30 year Hiatus, Not won in Canada for over 30 years it's time to bring The Stanley Cup home. We All BELIEVE IT'S COMING HOME. LET'S GO OILERS 👏👏 👏👏👏 LET'S GO OILERS 👏👏 👏👏👏 LET'S GO OILERS 👏👏 👏👏👏

There have only been two players in history to score two 4 point games in the final series, Gretzky and McDavid. Only McDavid has done it in back to back games. He has also surpassed everyone including Gretzky for most assists in a Stanley Cup playoffs and may add to that number before its said and done.

mcdavid has 42 points in these playoffs which is the fourth highest total ever behind only gretzky (twice) and lemieux, if it goes to seven it's possible he could break the record (47). mcdavid just had back-to-back 4 point games, the first player ever to do that in a finals series. as a series progresses skinner, in these playoffs, gets better while bobrovsky gets worse in all previous rounds. in all previous series skinner is 9-0 in games 4-7. the panthers may have a problem. the ice in edmonton is a lot faster than in florida where it's soft and slow. the next game should be crazy.
