I’ve been pulled over 6 times for speeding, I’ve plead not guilty to all the tickets. I now have 4 tickets for a broken speedometer and 2 were dropped…lol it’s a non moving violation and doesn’t raise your insurance like a speeding ticket does.
@timmythompson21863 жыл бұрын
@@linkonmanger7945 we don't have inspections, unless you fixed a salvage car. It gets an inspection to get titled, but not a thorough one. They also won't generally give you a ticket for one around these parts. If you get a shop to verify that it is faulty, you would usually get a break in court, but she was flying past cars and the nose dove from her hitting the brakes. That would say she knew she was speeding. If that wasn't the case and she didn't have priors, they would probably drop it and only charge her court costs if she took it to court with an official document saying that the speedometer was repaired.

In my younger days I just turned on to a city street with my ZX-10 Kawasaki and pulled a "sweet" wheelie through two gears. Much to my dismay while still aiming for the sky I passed two local Police cars sitting on the side of the road. Without a second thought I immediately shut it down, pulled over and waited. Soon enough one of the Cops pulled in behind me. As he approached I calmly said with something of a sheepish smile "Guess I don't have to ask why I'm getting the ticket". He said "Nope", and went on to quietly write me up for 85 in a 35, no mention of the wheelie (which was nice of him). As he handed me the ticket he smiled and said "I guess I don't have to ask if she gets up and goes". With a smile I replied "Nope", and we parted if not friends at least on a friendly note. When I called to pay the fines, the lady asked me what the ticket was for, when I replied "85 in a 35" there was a long pause... finally she said, "That's off my chart, I have to get my supervisor". It costs a bit to show off... something like $400 back when $400 was a lot. Maybe it was the age I was young in, or the way I was raised, but I NEVER saw the point of Blatantly Lying to a Cop, it NEVER works out. I'd rather just take my lumps and be on my way, they have a JOB to do, and its hard enough without some jackass making it worse trying to fight a righteous ticket with BS Lies and bluster. My 2 cents.

Do you realize how many police interactions happen each year? More than 64 million. Police kill less than 1100 people a year. One time I was driving my car for the first time after having work done on it (my son is a mechanic and he did the work), I hopped in and started driving very slow thru all of the residential areas to get to the expressway. Once I was up on the expressway I wanted to set my cruise so I looked down at my speedometer and it read 110. I freaked out, slowed down and got off at the next exit and called my husband. I told him there was no way that I was going *that* fast and I thought the speedometer had broken. He got a ride to where I was (we are a 1 car household since we've both retired) thinking he was going to have to work on the car in McDonald's parking lot (in a Michigan winter to boot). All of that fuss only to find out that when the battery was reconnected it defaulted to kph. I wondered how in the heck so many people were passing me if I was actually going 100+ mph.
