We're after power and we mean it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced, or objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.” Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand “The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.” - Ayn Rand

Incorrect. He already stated that they already accounted for the suspect vehicle. They were actually no longer looking for a vehicle, but a man on foot. Then he supposedly sees a car flying down the road. I don't agree with that sentiment at all. But, playing devil's advocate here: If there was a crime, you are looking for a vehicle, you find the vehicle abandoned and now are looking for a person on foot, and then you see another car driving in that same area, it isn't unreasonable to assume that the person you are chasing either stole a car, hijacked a car, or this is a cohort picking him up to get away. But this is all moot, because that's not the reason the officer gave for pulling him over. It was "speeding" and "reckless driving."

Yes, an officer can write you a speeding ticket based upon his observation alone. The prosecution has to prove that the officer has sufficient “expertise” to determine whether the car was going in excess of the speed limit. Generally, the officer will testify that: He has been a police officer for more than 5 years During that time the officer has spent thousand of hours in a police car “cruising”, observing cars driving the speed limit, and observing cars driven at different speeds. He often follows cars with a radar and that he often “shoots” cars with radar guns, and thus has experience in viewing cars at different speeds. He will say that he has probably checked the speed more than 10 thousand of cars. (200 days per year x 10 cars per day x 5 years)

Well in Florida that is true! To be certified in Radar AND LASER training in Florida you have to properly estimate vehicle speeds within 5 MPH to pass certification. I know that personally from being certified in both Radar and Laser Training as a Former FL LEO myself. Although, you could only cite someone for "excessive speed" and not their actual speed which makes the citation a lower cost. I use to live in Dekalb and Gwinnett Counties in Georgia when I was younger. Upon request by Georgia POST I sent my entire Florida Police Standards in Training material to the Head Officer of Training at Georgia POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) back in the early 1990's. I did this to see what I needed to do to be hired in Gerogia as a LEO. Georgia POST actually requested my material to compare GA to FL training for their own learning purposes. I was even told if I changed my mind Georgia would pay for shipping and return shipping of my material as they really wanted to compare both states training. After they review my material Georgia POST stated that all I needed to take what their simple "Georgia Law" Training course.I was told I could be actively hired "before" attending the GA Law Class as long as I was actively enrolled to attend their Georgia Law Course due to Florida Police Standards and Training being mush longer and which included more hours of training than Georgia did at the time. The State of Georgia actually copied every page I sent them to add to their own training. I applied to Gwinnett County Police Department. They had over 600 applicants. I was told that they had 8 open positions to fill at the time. I placed at number 9 on their hiring list. In the end, I decided to remained in Florida as a LEO instead of waiting for another position to open back up. I would have had to travel back to Georiga to redo their physical abilities testing. "Most" LEO Agencies that I knew at the time would keep a qualified applicant on the approved hiring list for one year without requiring you to travel back for their physical abilities testing.
@valarianne2284Ай бұрын
Don't forget the ones who have "special training" that allow them to determine whether or not you're impaired after you've blown all zeroes. They can magically tell if you're "on something" simply by asking how much sleep you've had, what you ate and drank, etc. They can't tell you what, but they "know" you're on "something". All this without any blood or urine test and blowing all zeroes on a breathalyzer twice! They sure are "special". I bet they even took a "special" bus to a "special" school! Just another way to Rip off the public and ruin lives.
