Moving from out east to LA I changed the expression "If you don't like the weather, wait for five minutes" to "If you don't like the weather, Drive for five minutes" This video truly shows how you can have it all in one area. Greet review. I have the AX41 on my r1200gs which I use on and off road. They are great. Really good on the trails and the quietest on road adventure tires I’ve used. I had tractionator adventures, Shinko 804/5, anakee wilds and now AX41’s. The AX have been the best so far. However, they are a bit sketchy in the wet. Had then out in a 4 hour storm last week and that tested them severely. It was so bad the rear tyre was hydroplaning under power. That being said, I slowed down a bit and they were fine. In the dry, they handle the pavement really well, and off road they are confidence inspiring on a heavy bike.

Thank you for your message Digby. Great feedback. We did not experience the lack of performance in wet weather that you did... hydroplaning sounds sketchy. Your views between the other tires you have ridden are right in-line with how I am feeling after having run them all myself... Great tire Bridgestone! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

@@chaparralmotorsportsthanks for the response. In fairness to the tire in wet weather, I was in a massive storm and the roads suffered from rather bad tar snakes which caused the sketchy and hydroplaning behaviour when wet. I don't think any tire would have behaved better. Slowing down a bit made a big difference. I had total confidence in the tire, but not the road. As always, ride to the conditions available. I am totally impressed with the AX41 as a knobbly covering all conditions well.

Just rode 50 miles of twisty pavement and 16 miles of mountain gravel roads. Complete confidence on gravel, these tires transformed the bike. I don’t care about loud tires on pavement because I come from a dirt bike and 4X4 background, but yes, they are louder than a street tire but in a fun, menacing way. They held well on tight turns and sweepers, zero knob squirm, no dancing around, and I’m riding a 500lb 1000 V Strom. They are actually quieter in a turn which tells me they put some science in rather than simply slapping rows of paddles across a carcass like the TKC80s and the Shinko 805s. The grip so far is confidence inspiring overall, tread wear is yet to be seen. Going straight, to be honest, they feel best when kept below 70mph, but I’m not about to slab it across five states, I’m riding twisties and dirt. Overall I am initially very happy with this purchase.

@chaparralmotorsports
@chaparralmotorsports 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your inquiry Pedro. The Karoo 3 Tires were a favorite for a period of time... But this AX41 has become my new favorite. The Karoo 3 takes a long time to break-in.... like 1,000+ miles. It is super slippery for at least 1k miles... only then did it become fun to ride. Karoo 3 tire is very knobby and vibrates on the road at speed and very much so when coming to a stop. It did handle ANYTHING I threw at it. I did get about 4k miles out of my Karoo 3 tires. The AX41 I have been on for just over 1,500 miles now and I think that they will not last as long as the Karoo 3. The AX41 tire is smooth on the pavement and does provide the best high speed canyoning feel of any 50/50 or knobbier tire. I really like them. Yes, better than the Karoo 3. - Kyle

If you had a distance of 600 kilometers on asphalt with rain and snow and normal contitions, also some very slipery asphalt roads but also on paths with soil, sand, stone, etc. 100 km at most. Contitions the same as those you tested in the AX41. Generally the routes are more on the asphalt and with difficult conditions than on the soil. A 90/10% ratio. The AX41. The Karoo 3 is sketchy for on-road for the first bit. Takes a while to break in and get used to ... The AX41 is good-to-go out of the box and has amazing street characteristics as compared to the Karoo 3. That being said, I get about 1k more miles out of the Karoo 3 than I do out of the AX41. Wet weather, the AX41 kills the K3... no comparison. Deep mud, the K3 is the winner. They each have strong points and weaknesses... You really can't go wrong with either... but if given the choice I'd pick a set of AX41's every time... UNLESS they were out of stock ;) then I'd run the K3 without hesitation. Thank you for your inquiry. I have used all of these tires. The Bridgestone AX41 has become my favorite On-Road-Knobbie tire. Unlike the other two tires, the AX41 gives amazing road feedback, similar to a sportbike tire. The Anakee Wild is a great tire too, but if feels very "cloud like" for more than a thousand miles. The blocks are tall and they move under the bike and that feeling is a little hard for some to get used to... I have yet to wear out a set of the AX41's but I think the Anakee Wild will end up getting at least 1 to 2 thousand more miles over the AX41 which is showing quite a bit of wear on my KTM 1190... and I have only 1,500 miles on the tires. Yes, this is true. Airing down is a key "tool" to use when the going gets tough. I personally like 30 psi for an all around solo rider pressure that works well in most cases. I have found (through blown out tires) that some tires don't allow much air down due to their very soft sidewalls. Stiffer sidewalls like the K60 Scout and Motoz Adventure tires can nearly be run flat the sidewalls are so stiff... Thanks for watching and for your comments. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

Hi Mitch, how have you found the tyres? Noisy on the bitumen or what you'd expect for a 50/50 tyre?

Great review, I was waiting for a decent review before I fitted up a set to my R1250gs. You have alleviated any concerns I was having - wet road & off road traction along with tyre noise appear to be good from what you are telling us. My bike came with Bridgestone A41s which I find a good as road tyre but they don't hit the mark in the dirt. Thanks for the review!

Hi, this is probably one of the best adventure tyres review on KZbin. How do these Bridgestone compare to the competitors relatively to mud and wet/cold asphalt? I'm looking for an upgrade to Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR on a KTM 790R because I find them perfect except on mud. Do you suggest these Bridgestone or other brands' models? Thank you
@chaparralmotorsports
@chaparralmotorsports 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your inquiry. The Scorpion STR was great on the street and this AX41 is in the same realm. The AX41 does provide the best road feedback of any full knobby tire I have run. I have run the AX41 in 40 degree weather and wet roads and did not have any issues with grip or slip. I have not had the opportunity to run it in mud as of yet... but my eyes are peeled and I am looking forward to that test.

@chaparralmotorsports 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, what do you consider noisy? Noise level can be different for different riders-especially those that are very sensitive to noise. Other factors can come into play as well such as, the type of surface you are traveling on, how much noise your motorcycle makes (exhaust/mechanical), how well your helmet protects you from external sounds etc. In our opinion, they are not extremely loud/noisy.

So after reading the comments and watching the videos lets rate these tires...I will be putting them on a Honda AT I will need a true 50/50 tire. Riding the Oregon and Washington and maybe the Idaho BDRs this year..My list what do you think????.No 1...E07, 2 AX41, 3 GPS,

Thanks for watching! All of the tires are great choices. This AX41 is one of my favorite tires at this time... it works really really well. HOWEVER.. I have blown through two of them now and the most I have gotten is just under 3k miles. I think the GPS tire is a far superior tire to the E07. I just ran the E07 three weeks ago... and was not as impressed as I thought I was going to be. Slippery on pavement and in the dirt it backs in quicker than these other tires. Longevity... GPS, E07 then the AX41. All that being said... Any of the three will work the BDR's and will suite you well. I rode the Idaho BDR in 2016 and it was amazing! Have fun! - Kyle

Wow, I can get a set of tires for the price of a rear for my KTM 950 or 1190. That rear would have to last me at least 10,000 miles,lol. Great video though. I will stick to my Scorpion MT90S or TKC - 80.

We are currently testing a set of Kenda Big Bloc tires on a KTM 950, KTM 990 and a KTM 1190.... They doe REALLY well off road, and are not too bad on the pavement either. They are smoking cheap in price! Fronts are $69 to $84 and the rears are $78 to $114. Now... just how long will they last!??? - Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

I feel like all these adv tire reviews should be compared directly to the K60. Or Motoz GPS. The K60 seems like it’s made the biggest compromise to be super long lasting on the Hwy while trying to remain at least a little bit aggressive off road. As opposed to most 50/50 or 60/40 tires really are just street tires imo.
@chaparralmotorsports
@chaparralmotorsports 5 жыл бұрын
Great feedback Kermit. We are running the 50/50 tires and the 80/20 tires and will compare all of the tires in each category respectively. Beginning of July the full test results will be released. The K60 is a great tire I have run 5 times on three different bikes. It LASTS a long time... and it works okay. It does not perform in the dirt as well as the GPS and for sure is not a "road worthy" in cold and wet as most of these tires. Thanks for watching!
