the whole goal is for the controller to be identical to the original so that you get the authentic SNES experience. for example, if the Y button isn't recessed and the same angle/distance from B, and the joysticks get in the way of the original feel, then it misses the point. in competition, you want the real deal.

I've experienced the over sensitivity, but it was only activated when I slightly press up while pressing left or right. These diagonals are mis-inputs as I clearly wasn't pressing on the button in order to get a diagonal. Couldn't agree more. With the 8bitdo controller you get a home button, screenshot button, a functional zl&zr, along with dual analog sticks that still feel good when you're playing games outside of 2D/retro style games, and the D-Pad seems to be superb on mine (doesn't favor diagonal inputs). My one and only personal gripe is the position of the analog sticks, and that's simply because I have larger hands/fingers. Playing super metroid, the left analog stick sometimes gets in the way when going for the select button to switch to missiles/super missiles/etc. As far as pairing issues are concerned...read the instructions that come with the controller and don't be dumb 😂👍

I definitely have had an issue with the d-pad on 8bitdo controllers, but my understanding is that it's been fixed. It's not something you'll notice on a lot of games but if you play any Mario games and find yourself unable to crouch slide, then you'll see the problem. I did the ring fix and added a couple small layers in the center underneath the pivot ball and it works perfectly now and feels excellent. FWIW my controllers are the ones analogue sold with the SuperNT, which was before 8bitdo allegedly fixed their d pads. Definitely well worth the money though, even if I had to tinker to get it perfect.
