I know this is off topic but if they ever go a different direction with 2D Sonic they should let Moon Studio develop it. I think an Ori-style Sonic game would be fantastic. Ori manages to have a great sense of speed and momentum and the mechanics actually remind me of Sonic in a lot of ways. would be real cool to see what they can do.

Personally, I'm really curious about Dragon Quest 12. It was announced over a year ago at this point and they definitely wouldn't have gameplay yet but I could totally see a story CG trailer at game fest live. Especially since square doesn't have a history of partnering with sony on Dragon quest (most of the early ones and 2000s era ones are nintendo console and handheld exclusives)

Who cares if Twisted Metal gets a hype show, it’s not like the recent Sonic games warranted an awesome movie. It’s more about leveraging the IP from its peak and whether you like it or not, Twisted Metal was a huge cornerstone of PlayStation at one point and there’s plenty to mine from it.

Personally, I agree that if Bloodborne was coming to PC, it would be on the Nvidia leak. But, on whether it needs a full on remake or just a remaster, I come down on the remaster side. Just played through it a couple weeks ago. I think the art assets are of good enough quality that they could be left untouched. It needs better texture filtering. Better LODs. Lightning fast load times, of course. And, 60FPS, naturally. And for me, the game would truly shine. I just don't think they need to even waste time remaking those assets. It's already gorgeous as is. Just needs a glow up, as the kids say.

I think Sony's reveals will be split between the State of Play tomorrow and Keighley's "opening night" thing on the 9th. I think Microsoft is going to hold everything they got for their showcase. Nintendo will probably have a showcase in June and again in September. They seem to have fallen into a pattern doing a big Direct in Q1, one in June, and one in September. I also think Sony won't have a showcase until September. That's very late summer so I don't know that you count that September Nintendo Direct or that Playstation Showcase as "Summer Games Fest". I think Sony's State of Play tomorrow mostly focuses on Playstation VR 2 and disappoints because of that. I could see some big things being shown for VR though... Half-Life Alex, Resident Evil Village, AstroBot 2, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, etc. Maybe if the rumors are true and all VR 2 games are playable without VR these things can have a wider reach and interest more people. I don't know that anything high profile gets announced though. Maybe Final Fantasy XVI but I could just as easily see that being at Geoff's thing. I definitely see God of War Ragnarok being part of his opening night thing like Horizon 2 was last year. That'll get a release date for September and right around its release Sony will so a more future-focused showcase. At Nintendo's thing they'll focus mainly on things coming out this year so Advanced Wars, Splatoon 3, Xenoblade 3, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Bayonetta 3, and I think they'll announce Metroid Prime Remake for this year. That's already a ton of stuff to juggle. I don't think they skip on Zelda though so i bet they end with that, give us its official title and a release date for Q1 2023. Microsoft is a bit harder since they have a ton of games announced that we know nothing about and most of them seem to be "in trouble". I don't know which one of those we see. Maybe a release date for Hellblade since that's the only one that doesn't seem to be in trouble. Maybe we find out what Contraband actually is. Two things I expect to see is Gears of War 6, since that was part of the Nvidia leak, and Forza Motorsport from Turn10. Bethesda is a bit easier. Starfield, Indiana Jones, and Redfall are what I expect to see from them. Maybe a sneak peak at ID Software's next game too

We know Xbox are actually confirmed to have something to show at Summer GameFest. We just don't know what. My guess would be Hellblade 2, given how it's always showed up at Keighley's TGAs before now. If it does show up, it will probably be in both shows.

My Five: Dragon Age trailer at SGF. Hat-tip, I think the player character will be a "Lord of Fortune." A very brief announcement of a Bioshock game at SGF. FF Tactics remaster/remake at SoP; hat tip, maybe a quick look at the FF9 anime that tells you to turn into the Netflix thing to see more. Dragons Dogma 2 briefly teased at SGF, but nothing major. Another brief teaser for Avowed at X&BS (It's set in the same world as Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2. I think Obsidian was banking on it before Xbox came along, so I definitely think it comes out eventually).

I am a little surprised that during all these predictions, basically nothing was mentioned for the MS/Bethesda event. I know we still have the whole 'MS has no games, or if they do, they are miles away' attitude, but they do have a 90 minute showcase, and is their big time to go as hard as possible, so I see a few of those predictions for SGF, to actually take place during the MS event instead, because if all their games are 2023 and beyond, then they need to fill this in with 'big' 3rd party reveals, with things like a Calisto Protocol, Dead Space, etc.

My predictions: - Compulsion's game will be revealed and it will be an horror-esque immersive sim like Bioshock or Prey - Coalition's next non-Gears game will be revealed with a very CG trailer similar to Avowed where it will only give away genre, tone and name but not much else - Jeff Grubb's finally proven right about it and Kojima's Xbox game is finally announced. Maybe just a title for the game. - 343 and Certain Affinity showcase the Halo Battle Royale/Invasion 2.0 mode, playable this year either a beta during Season 3 of Infinite or full release in the fall - The WuTang Xbox game is shown at the Xbox/Bethesda Showcase and WuTang comes out on stage

Avowed is 101% going strong, it'll take place in the Pillars of Eternity universe (not totally a new IP), you have no idea how much RPG fans love Obsidian games (maybe more than Bethesda's). The shadow of The Elder Scrolls 6 doesn't move the plans even an inch.

My predictions: Fortnite Genshin Impact Fortnite clone Genshin Impact Clone COD Something Star Wars or Marvel everyone gets outraged about Kojima saying a lot of words while Geoff stares at him with puppy eyes. A phenomenal CGI trailer for a PC tower defense game. Something with Ryan Reynolds that has nothing to do with video games. One too many mobile ports for PC master race. Some cell-shaded Indie that sounds profound but isn’t and has no combat that nobody can remember the title of except that one chick. A celebrity who never plays video games who pretends they do. At least 2 awesome CGI trailers for games that will never release that people expect to come out for the next decade that will actually secretly be canceled in next 6 months before being started on. Some dev with blue hair in a hoodie. Product placement ads 16 times the detail and processing Devolver presentation that’s way more interesting than any of their games A game company that says, “we heard you!” and proceeds to explain how they haven’t. A totally unnecessary sequel to a game nobody remembers but everyone pretends to be excited for to keep their gamer cred. Shots of Devs’ backs pretending to be working in front of PC work desks. Some RTS game for PC your geekiest friend is overly excited for and keeps trying to make you play for the next 5 years. Netflix gaming that will “revolutionize” gaming the way Amazon and Stadia did. Apology for a game delay citing “world events.” Minimum 3 JRPGs that you’ll never remember which is which with made up words for titles. Announcement for mobile port of that game you loved as a kid now with microtransactions. Some TV show. Something Ass Creed. Something Far Cry. Open world Zombie game. A racing game that’s nowhere near going to be successful as Forza or GT. A fighting game that’s nowhere near going to be successful as Street Fighter or Mortal Combat Gotcha mechanics and NFTs A live band that 99% of people facepalm except the one dude or chick chair dancing to. Vin Diesel.

Tease Project Dragon and Xbox officially acquires IO. - Deathloop DLC at game fest, launching into the new PS+ service and will be part of the release for xbox version in September. - PSVR2 launches free with a Star Wars Mandalorian experience this fall, as well as a Stranger Things Inside the upside down experience. And a week later it’s announced on Xbox’s stage the real Mandalorian game. - God of War Ragnorak is coming this year, November 18th with a mostly dark PS5 special edition. - Geoff gets Silent Hill, but after the reveal people release the property wasn’t really the hype part from that demo so many years ago.

KOTOR isn't beloved because of it's groundbreaking turn-based gameplay. 99% of KOTOR players love it because of the story, twists, characters, and choices. changing the gameplay won't change what makes the game special.

@@BasketCase-rr7tx I think FF7 and KOTOR are completely different examples. Most people loved old school FF gameplay.. no one loves KOTOR gameplay. Just because a game’s gameplay is changed doesn’t mean it’s always for the worse.. look at RE2 remake, it was phenomenal yet very different. Sure.. there’s still a fanbase who wants fixed cameras, but the change was definitely for the better.

I predict there's no way you see BotW2 this year. I think it's a Switch 2/Pro launch title, and Nintendo is just going to sit on it, even if it's done. I think the increase in Switch console sales during the pandemic pushed back Nintendo's internal timelines. Why release new stuff when you can't keep current gen in stock?
