Nepotism is inevitable. We mostly speak about direct nepotism, that comes in form of result. But there is indirect inevitable nepotism that goes into the process of becoming successful. For instance, if parents are from well educated background, children get right guidance, know how and training to succeed while a child from marginalised background has to struggle to find their own way out. In this way, there is always inter-generational transmission. Also, nepotism in-itself cannot make one successful, though it may provide some initial advantage. Take arjun tendulkar or stuart binny for instance. World is not a level playing field. Each have advantage in some and disadvantage in other. Earlier social structure like heriditary profeesions were the means to capitalise on these initial advantage. Now that we have agreed to have equal opportunity and make our on choices regarding our aspirations, we have to accept the fact that there are others already in the field who have advantage. As they say with freedom comes responsibility, it is our responsibility to fight for ourselve rather than blamming systems or society. One is a true hypocrite who says i will fight on my own and not transmit the same knowledge and advantage to my children or family.

Nepotism can be seen through the prism of an ethical dilemma. Is that a more narrow way of looking at it or does that make nepotism more acceptable?
