This is probably one of the toughest videos I've ever had to do. I explain why I withdrew from IPF worlds after months of hip issues and then 2 herniated discs in my neck I had to make the decision to withdraw. I have no time table for my return.

not to be negative but after suffering from chronic elbow tendinitis for over 2 years, I entirely realigned my values. Fitness should be to enhance your life, not cause you pain and suffering. Having said that, I quit power-lifting and have taken a complete different approach to training and being healthy. I'm sure lots of people go through the same phase when they realize it simply isn't worth it. I'm lucky, its just an elbow, If it were my back or knees, I could not imagine that.

+Jason 56 I respect your decision, however I broke a world record on the biggest stage in powerlifting in the world. I got a silver medal in the most competitive world championship there has been. I don't care if I broke both my legs and back. I wouldn't trade it. It was worth it

Layne, I was a client of yours back in 2012. Don’t know if you’d remember this, but just as we were making progress, I suffered a hernia. I was devastated. You encouraged me to overcome the setback and come back strong, which I did! Now it’s your turn to do the same! “Every adversity carries with it the seed of an equal or greater opportunity.” Look for the opportunity my man. You got this. Crush it. Also, I know you don’t want advice on treatment, but look into Prolotherapy if you haven’t already. It has been successful with unique and stubborn sports injuries. Worked wonders for my rib-cartilage injury after many failed orthopedic and PT visits. Thought it would be worth mentioning.

Layne, I've been a huge fan of you and your content for a couple of years now and it kills me to see you face these injuries. I can't help but find a parallel between you and me though, you coming off of the excellent IPF worlds performance last year is similar to my junior year of high school last year, I was all state in football, placewinner in wrestling, and runner up in shot put. This year I would've been a shoe in for elite all-state in football, a state finalist in wrestling, and a champ in shot put. Unfortunately i bulged a lumbar disc severely in June (herniation by some evaluations) and as usual when it rains it pours I had a wrist injury 3 games into football season that has kept me out of every sport since. Things won't be getting any easier as next year Im headed off to arkansas and the sec west to play football but everyday Im embracing the challenge and I'll be back, better than ever, just like you

Wish you a quick recovery, Layne. As this quotes says : "Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.". You are a huge inspiration for people like me and many many others. I remember some of your words from your vlogs about not to give up. You said that "Quitting is not acceptable. If you quit, you wont get what you want." or " Failure is not final unless you quit." We - subcribers - are supporting you. Even if this comment means nothing and changes nothing. We are with you.

I hear you. I messed up my left hip joint while squatting a little over a year ago. Can't do squats, deadlifts, or any other lower body exercise anymore. Can't run. I lost a great deal of muscle mass in the meanwhile, especially in my legs. About six or seven months ago I started working my upper body again. Tried doing squats and deadlifts a couple of times with 50kg to at least try and stay toned because my legs became pretty limp, but I can't even handle that because the pain I had to deal with afterwards was pretty debilitating. At this point I gave up on working out my lover body completely. The idea of having hip surgery terrifies me, so I pretty much learned to live with the discomfort and decided to postpone it indefinitely.

herniated discs are often fixable. It takes time and effort. I know how scary this can be I deadlifted with perfect neutral form but went for more time under tension then had severe DOMs in spineal erectors. Thought I slipped a disc but no pain. Still scary. Also had bursitis in shoulder due to bad bench form but rested for a month and used bands. There are ways to get around this. But everytime I feel like something is telling me...chill out.
