@@JamesEatWorld7758 I disagree that it’s overrated. I think it got a lot of praise but I don’t think it’s undeserved. I’ve been a fan since IKS and this is still my favourite simply because I feel the song writing and instrumentals are top notch and it gave a very cinematic feel to the album. Not to say their other albums aren’t also amazing.

To anyone who doesn't know the story. Ten Speed is a demonic possessed bicycle that's also a figment of the Writing Writer's imagination. It symbolizes the evil urges and dark side of the Writer's mind when it comes to the Writer's former lover Erica. Ten Speed wants Ambellina dead, the character in Writer's story, and manifestation of the good things that kept Writer with his girlfriend Erica, saying that Ambellina is the reason The Writer is miserable and should just kill her off. And so, the Writer finally agrees in the end

Even though i overlistened to this band a lot (that was my fault) Coheed will forever have a special place in my heart for introducing me to progressive rock, when i first listened to Second stage it inspired me to play drums again after getting discouraged for a long time. I like all of these analysis's for this song. I would like to point out though, for those without the luxury of reading the comics, the bicycle is a personified version of the writers inner most desires. This song goes over the inner turmoil that the writer faces when his girlfriend leaves him. He is now faced with the decision to kill off the character that he wrote her into. The writer is borderline insane at this point in the story...and honestly...I love it!!

For a story of how I came to like the band. Back when they would play Welcome Home on the radio I'd jam to the intro riff, but as soon as Claudio would start singing I pictured someone trying wayyy too hard. Then they were at a concert with other bands I specifically went to see, and my god. They are an AWESOME live show, and it's immediately clear it's an intentional aeshtetic but not in some kind of hack way. He's like performing pop songs from the radio of his paracosm. They were my favorite act there (even more so then the one's I intended to see) and have loved them ever since. In short, the band and Claudio in particular are extremely pretentious, but rather than in the "look how cute my makeup... what music?" way, it's the "I've got a universe in my head I'm going to sing songs about with no prior context for anyone who hasn't gone out of their way to find out, while projecting my authentic self. PS: This may be my art but it's not shamelessly over-serious and is self aware" way
