Clark Harris was hurt so they had to go with a back up long snapper. And a in game back up long snapper is not very good. So I don’t blame Kevin Huber because the next kick could have and would have been missed. The long snapper is the most under appreciated position. There just aren’t back ups in a game because all a long snapper does is snap and a coach isn’t suiting up 2 of those and having 2 on the 53 man roster. I’m a Steelers fan and we lost a game when our snapper got hurt and the back up James Harrison snapped it way over Mitch Berger’s head.

On the sack before the punt Ian Eagle was going all crazy because the Bengals recovered the fumble and returned it to the 34. There’s a couple of interesting parallels to Detroit Lions games from the last couple of years: • In Week 7 on October 25, 2020, the Atlanta Falcons failed to not score a touchdown with little enough time left as to not allow the Lions a chance to come back, scoring with around 1 minute left (notice that the Bengals gave Pittsburgh roughly 1 minute in OT in Sunday’s game) because of a stupid run where the runner failed to get down before it was too late. This led to Matthew Stafford throwing a TD on the last play of the game to tie it up at 22-22, before Matt Prater made the P.A.T. to give the Lions a 23-22 victory. • In a much simpler example, in their Week 10 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 14, 2021, they and the Lions were also deep into OT with a tie being a possibility -- albeit the tie actually happened.
@SgvSth2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the runner did try to stop in the Week 7 example. The defense just did a good job lulling the runner into having too much speed and not enough space to stop in time.

The "sack" was even worse. Burrows actually fumbled the ball and it was recovered by a teammate. Since it was a fumble with less than two minutes to go, it could only be advanced by the fumbling player. I got to see this game because DirecTV had the free preview week of Sunday Ticket, plus they're giving it to me free for the third consecutive season. I randomly picked this one in the fourth quarter because it was moving the fastest of all the 1 PM kicks. This game didn't exactly seem "on the level" so to speak. The Bengals did almost everything to try to give the Steelers the game. The officials did almost everything to try to give the Bengals the game. Each 1 PM kick except for the Ravens - Jets and Dolphins - Pats ended up being a one possession game in the last 5 minutes even if the games were seemingly over prior to that. I have to question some things when all of that happens. As for the punt itself. The Steelers could have declined the DOG, but the clock still would have run down. Honestly, I think the long snapper situation was such a distraction, nobody even thought of taking the DOG there. The Bengals were in OT because the long snapper couldn't execute an extra point snap, and then botched the snap even worse on the 29 -yard FG attempt.

Official JaguarGator9, you need to break down the hideously bad coaching by Nathaniel Hackett at the end of the Broncos-Seahawks MNF game. You need to rip this guy for: Trusting a kicker to make a nearly improbable field goal instead of the star QB (that the organization paid a premium for in the offseason) to convert a makeable 4th and 5. Letting the clock run down and then calling a timeout with 1 second left on the play clock. STILL deciding to kick the field goal after his kicker missed the first 64-yard attempt badly. Dude should've been fired on his way back to the locker room. I know that's an overreaction, but his coaching during this final sequence (and the entire game) reached Hue Jackson/Urban Meyer/Adam Gase levels of ineptitude.
