rick venturi... the ultimate fill in coach. The ultimate one win coach who won one game at each coaching spot. Filled in for saints after mora in '96. filled in for colts after macpherson in '91. Also coached northwestern '78-'80. 52 games coached. 19 nfl, 2-17. .105 win %. 33 at nw. 1-31-1. 0 big 10 wins. 3-49-1 overall. And mora wasn't a bad coach. He made saints a playoff team and got saints to playoffs for the first time in '87. He also took usfl stars to two titles too. Things just got stale in n o and the lack of a qb took him down. He won with hebert and fourcade as qb's there. And jim everett was just a shell of himself by the time he got to n o. And i remember mora calling out fans in n o one time for openly cheering when fourcade got knocked out of a game after a hit. Mora just got railroaded out of indy thanks to peyton because he clashed with peyton's soft ego. Dungy basically won the s b with the team mora had put together. 'PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS?...'

Saints couldn’t win a game before Mora, so above .500 was an incredible job. Before Mora the Saints were a joke and he made them respectable…with great defense including Rickey Jackson, Pat Swilling, and Vaughn Johnson.
@kerryblanchard94253 жыл бұрын
Before Mora, the Saints had gone 19 straight seasons without a winning record, coming closest with 8-8 marks in 1979 and 1983. Total record for those 19 seasons and 9 coaches: 83 wins, 187 loses, 5 ties, for a win percentage of .311. They were so awful that their overall franchise record still hasn't recovered, although they're now only 44 games away from .500 in total franchise history. Mora resigned because he didn't see a way out of the mess the franchise devolved into once the early 90's defensive core, among many others, left New Orleans mostly for $$$$$. And that's not a shot at the players, that's a shot at a front office that mostly struck out on finding their replacements.
