@@SortaNonymous basically one of the Jets rookies caught a pass and ran it in for a touchdown.. only to drop it on the 1 yard line for a touchback. Basically the Desean Jackson situation all over again.

Haven't watched it live. Depending on your definition of what is considered a "play" in which manipulating a ball includes then I most certainly know what you are talking about.

Thus is tradition, like the Titans did for the Jags, and the Jags did for the Texans. Let the flaco magic consume the Texans, let the colts somehow magically get into the playoffs

The Houston Texans remind me of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year. They win the division by proxy because the rest of teams suck.

@@esdeathisbae9480but if the Colts do well enough agaisnt other AfC teams and win enough they could still make wild card...I think it'll be close for the cotls making playoffs..not syaing they will the win the divsion but maybe playoffs possibly inegeral

Exactly. If Corley doesn't fumble on the 1-yard line, the game is out of reach at 28-10. The Texans were losing this game no matter what.

This decision making was like trying to make a car that turns into a boat like in the Bond movies. They actually tried it in the 70s and, as you might expect, a device designed to do two things did neither thing well.

I could make a defense for this one. The Texans needed a field goal, onside kick, touchdown, and 2 point conversion to tie the game. They needed time to do all of that. Since they had a chip shot on 3rd down, it made sense for them to go ahead and kick the field goal so they would have more time to drive down the field if they recovered the onside kick. It didn't work out and I personally wouldn't have done it, but I understand the logic.

2022 Titans collapsed and the Jags benefited. 2023 Jags collapsed and the Texans benefited. 2024 the Texas will collapse and the Colts will benefit? Maybe

don’t forget the Colts in 2021 basically just needed to win one with two to go to make the playoffs, including a game against a 2 win team who was the worst in football. and they lost both of those games to miss the playoffs

Dumb decision for the kick on third down. Once he passed up the FG opportunity at 1:20, you're going for the TD and you should take all three shots at it. Frankly, I'd have probably tried for the TD on third and fourth down, because there wasn't realistically enough time to get a touchdown after an onside kick at that point. Once he played on at 1:20, it was TD or bust.

This is not a dumb decision, it's a lack of execution by the players in the redzone causing the coaches to pivot to a field goal. They settled for 3, they had 29 seconds left and giving the offense a brief rest before a potential second drive if you recover the onside kick makes a ton of sense because they're struggling down at the goal line and you're down to less than 30 seconds of gametime so what down it is starts not to matter. Personally I'd go for the touchdown all 4 downs. But I don't disagree with this decision by Houston. Not having optimal yardage efficiency is not a dumb decision in this scenario because seconds matter much more at that point in the game, not yards.

I cant hate on Demeco too much about this. He was up against it either way. 3rd down was clearly a white flag. Lucky CJ didnt get hurt with all the hits. Some obsevations from faces in the background.... 4:09 Ginger Giant practicing pouting lips selfies for his IG 7:40 Scott Ian brought the girl from Orphan trick or treating 8:50 Molly is kicking in for Kapt Krazyface.

There is 42 seconds left in the game even if they get the touchdown and get the two point conversion, they still have to get an onside kick and at least a field goal the Texans aren’t too worried although they should be

Wasted an attempt at a touchdown to give more time for another attempt at a touchdown, but from a farther spot and depending if you even win the onside kick. Yeah, dumb decision.

I would have kicked field goal after 4th down conversion. That way, they didn't have to do an onside kick. They could have played defense (better chance than onside kick these days) and try to get ball back with around 25 seconds. Being down by 8 is a one score game.

You still would have to do an onside kick, would make no sense to kick it deep, gives you 2 chances to get the ball back instead of 1.

They didn't have enough timeouts to play defense at that point in time, they couldn't just kick the FG then kick it away to the Jets because giving away possession at that point in time just means the game is over.

@Nichrysalis Texans had 2 timeouts and with about 1:17 left after kicking field goal.

@TheRealfan1 Not enough time, even if the Texans got a 3 and out they would get the ball back with about 15 seconds left. If the Texans had all 3 timeouts left I would still do an onside kick.
