28:00 Maybe a crazy idea, but I’d send Ziggler home for six months to a year to get him off the radar, then repackage him as Mr. Perfect. There’s been multiple Sheiks, Nature Boys, and Dutch Mantels (among others), so why not? He’s got the look and he could definitely pull off the obnoxious arrogance. He’d be selling it as a tribute to Curt, but in a backhanded way that generates even more outrage. I think he’d get some heat and some buzz, and probably revitalize his stagnant career.

The argument about her mic work is hilarious considering how much Jim bitches about there being too much focus on promos. It's also not a complaint he has about Bryan Danielson, Roddy Strong, Kyle O'Reilly, or any of the men who do work rate stuff and don't talk much. He just plays favorites. He's allowed, obviously. But there's no rhyme or reason to who he does and doesn't like half the time. He complains incessantly about Finn Balor, but Roderick Strong (who is...smaller and less charismatic) is one of the best workers of the last 15 years. He hates Asuka but he likes Carmella. The way Jim gets on Asuka is quite ironic. Charlotte has her own compilation of botches, especially dives, and I’ve never heard a peep from Jim about it. At best, you’d get a “the other girl’s timing was off.” Also, to say that Asuka is a 1-note, regurgitated character, answer me this: what has Charlotte’s gimmick been since 2015? The conditions are that you must describe said gimmick without mentioning her father or the fact that her personality is just having championships. Considering the focus on her for all these years and the incessant need to only be in championship related storylines, it’s no wonder that there’s barely any women’s storylines w/ PPV payoffs not about a championship and are of substance.

The problem is that Jim never saw Asuka on NXT, only on the main roster. On NXT Asuka was a badass joshi girl who was undefeated for here entire tenor there. Job girls who got in the ring with her would have the crowd chanting “Asukas gonna kill you.” When Asuka made it to the main roster they, unsurprisingly, killed any momentum she had. They turned her into a goof and didn’t sell her as the badass female wrestler she is

I just don't agree with Jim on Sami. They had lightning in a bottle. He shouldn't have won the title at EC but it should have been a set up for Sami to be put in the main event at Mania. Cody is a made man if he wins or not at Mania, long term he'll be champion. But Sami deserves his Mick Foley/Daniel Bryan moment, now that is lost. Sami is a legit draw on ratings, social media scores, he's absolutely a star right now and a near year of storyline like this that has delivered should culminate at WM as the ultimate underdog story taking down the most dominant final boss in decades with all the Uso stuff culminating too. Cody's stories can go many directions long term and it'll deliver. This is a real missed change imo. Sami could hold the titles for a couple of months, it wouldn't matter about the reign itself but more about the moment. Long term I actually see Cody going heel, once all the nostalgia and backstory has got tired he's absolutely a smug sanctimonious heel. I don't buy him as a face long term, put Brandi on-screen with him and the heat would be nuclear.

I've listened to Jim for a while now. I've heard him talk about racial stereotypes in pw/se and it's been a while since I seen Gail Kim's stuff, I'm aware Jim is a fan of her work. I'm also aware he's not into Bray Wyatt's stuff, he's been critical of Asuka so I know he won't care about kana/asuka (even if most ppl like her). I'm guessing to him, he probably see's Asuka now as a asian female Bray Wyatt instead of the murder clown kana and if you heard Jim talk about Bray yeah he probably looks at Asuka more like now a talent that will bury stars instead of helping talent improve just like how he talks about Bray. Her work has always seemed all over the place, and as time has gone by, it's looked less believable. It's almost like the gimmick has overtaken the actual wrestler. And a great gimmick is always cool, but sometimes I just want to see a good match that doesn't look worked, and that's all too common with a lot of the women on the main roster.

As far as I'm concerned part of the problem is that WWE had Alexa, Asuka, and Nikki Cross all start to "snap" around the same time. Nikki has the weird crazed Ultimate Warrior thing going on, but at least they showed her taking the losses as Nikki ASH hard. Asuka went from happy-go-lucky excitable ball of energy to losing a match, disappearing for a few weeks, and coming back as a creepy clown version of herself. If you know her history, you get it. If you don't and I'm guessing Cornette and Last don't, it likely doesn't make sense. And Alexa was starting to revert to her Possessed Alexa persona before Asuka returned as Kana, but then Alexa suddenly disappeared after the Rumble. So are they going to have all three do a crazy gimmick now? Is Alexa out while Asuka and Nikki run with this?

@Adam N Whatever you want to call it. Not for nothing, there is something to be said for someone enthusiastically getting into a persona. But that's about all I have to say positive, and that seems like a shame because she seems like a great person from everything else I've seen. Just...nothing to justify the praise in the work she's done lately.

@@williamzebub3252 I think another part of it is..a lot of it DOESN'T make sense. And in all three of those cases, the work in the ring has looked lackluster. AEW gets a lot of crap for their work looking performative, meaningless and unbelieveable. But the same criticisms apply here, as well. At least for me, most of the in ring stuff in wwe from Asuka and Bliss just looks lackluster. I cringe every time I see Asuka 'connect' with that back handed spinning punch she does with the kicks. The kicks look great and then that damn punch. And her gimmick now seems to be "get beat up, impossible to pin..act crazy..win randomly." Maybe her work has changed over the years, and I will say her earlier WWE work had a lot more energy. This all kind of came into more focus watching a match between Alba Fyre and Ivy Nile..which just made me go.."holy crap, it looks like they're actually fighting, why isn't more of the women's (and men's) roster doing THIS? If they did that, they could have randy orton come out dressed as Yankee Doodle and I'd go.."sure, why not, at least the work is amazing" The great workers just make the rest of the stuff look worse by comparison. Obviously just my opinion here, but..enjoying wrestling has just been a lot tougher these days.

Asuka or Oscar lol is really good but she has this Japanese stereotype about her. She doesn't really speak English really good, makes too much noise and WAYYY too hyper making her look like a joke. She became that awesome killer clown character from Japan but she is not serious. I have Japanese friends who speak perfect English and they don't make themselves look like stereotypes. She or WWE needs to learn this and become more Americanized or try to be so she can get a little more over with the people. Not to be racist, but Indian wrestlers like Jinder Mahal, Sanga, Veer and Great Khali all have this same problem. Stop being stereotypical and be normal, serious wrestlers. People will be behind you. Just out of curiosity...how many mainstream platforms were hyping up Omega/Page? Was Kenny on The Late Show? Or Good Morning America? Were ESPN or Sports Illustrated covering that? The thing AEW fans usually don't understand is that the world is bigger than you and the 60,000 basement dwellers who like the shit you like. Nobody knows who Kenny Omega *is* outside of the IWC. The ratings totally bear that out. And that...matters...when you're comparing scores. If one guy has been on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon twice...and Nobody knows who the other guy Is...the guy people have heard of is having the bigger match. 🤷🏿‍♀️ I mean, fuck Wrestlemania in general is a bigger international platform and Reigns has headlined it like seven times now or whatever.
