To this day I think the biggest mistake Khan made was not getting Punk and the Elite into a room, sorting their shit out and making the whole thing an angle. Punk vs the Elite could have been the hottest feud in wrestling, something they could have actually put forward to challenge the Bloodline angle with. Instead, Khan left it to the lawyers, kept them apart and it all went to shit anyway. If it's all going to go to shit, have it happen on camera and make some money out of it. Punk vs the Elite could have been gold. Forget what you think about the Bucks and think of it in pure wrestling business terms. Punk and MJF had AEW's best angle by a country mile, even if Punk is erratic, he's still box office and reality sells tickets. Instead, Punk got into it with Perry and almost killed Tony (according to Tony lol) and is now part of WWE's secondary Mania angle, which is still way hotter than anything going on in AEW and all Punk is doing is talking. He can't even wrestle right now and he's getting WWE over. Think about it. Cody, Rock and Roman is the big Mania angle this year, right? But Seth, Drew and Punk, a secondary angle, could easily be the main Mania angle any other year. The Mania build overall this year is one of the best in recent memory with multiple stories, feuds etc being expertly built. Every single feud for Mania has something worth tuning in for. Meanwhile, AEW has the sum total of sweet fuck all. They have the talent but not the ideas.
@NoName-cz3wn8 ай бұрын
Here's the thing... I actually have no trouble believing that Perry was a scapegoat. Maybe they had that talk on Collision, Punk was a bit.... direct... and prob annoyed that the agents even asked him to get involved with a Bucker and talk him down after they already tried. So Perry vents to his friends in Cucamonga, and rather than being EVPs, they acted like kids and said "see, told ya he's a prick. Wanna get back at him? Do it in London.... that's if he even makes it to the arena". Then Perry realized he fucked around and found out once Punk emasculated him and facelocked him, and prob WANTED to say "I'm a scapegoat in all this... the EVPs egged me on and the leader didn't lead!" That could ALL be valid. Here's the problem... you're the company that you keep. You only had a contract, a label as a "pillar", and constant TV time over more deserving talents BECAUSE you kissed EVP rear. So who do you THINK is supposed to take the heat? It's not gonna be the mob Bosses. It's gonna be their underlings. That's who you were, Jack. So unless you figured all this out and wanna expose the Bucks and Tony, stfu and take the money. And even if he DID wanna do that, the only way he's getting out of his contract is with an NDA anyway

The four pillars of AEW being MJF, Allin, Guevara and Perry is laughable for a promotion trying to position itself as a legit competitor to WWE. Vince wouldn't let people see him sneeze, and no-sold tearing both quads. Tony doesn't seem to care at all about showing any weakness or looking like a mark. There has to be something inbetween these two extremes.

How can anyone run a wrestling promotion and not be confrontational?!? Jim is 100% correct that this B's wouldn't have happened had there been any constructive discussion or any authority shown by the owner/booker. BrawlOut is on Kahn for not being able to manage the talent he pays millions or rein in EVP shenanigans.

It’s fascinating that Tony is the one who lost the most here: Punk: Uses new relevance to mend WWE bridge for big money. Perry: Keeps a presence in the wrestling world for another company while collecting AEW paychecks and has a possible new gimmick. TK: Loses his biggest superstar/investment, loses one of his “pillars”, looks like a weak boss/promoter, and further fosters the idea that his company has major backstage issues. I legit kinda feel bad for the guy.

Don't feel bad for him. Tony is a grown ass man doing this to himself.

Being honest, releasing Jack Perry only leads this goof to work in TNA or some minor league promotions, because WWE will not hire him, specially with Punk being involved in some stuff in NXT. And let's be real, when this guy return, he will get a cheap pop, "F*ck CM Punk" and "Cry me a River" chants, and Tony will understand this as "OMG Jungle Child is a star!!!"🤦🏻

The storyline should’ve been Jungle Boy gets fired but he continually tries to sneak back into the show backstage and uses different costumes to hide his identity. They could’ve poked fun at it.

If Dave had just stuck to live gates, attendance, contracts, show results, and history, he’d have been a respected journalist. But he had to delve into rumors and reviews and cheerleading and now he’s been exposed as a total fraud

I wonder if Tony is just stinging because Jungle Jack-off was suppose to be one of the 'pillars' AEW was suppose to be built around. Tony anointed him and Tony was wrong... and it seems Tony doesn't like being wrong. And having Perry around reminds Tony that he failed in evaluating that talent and situation in general. He chose the EVPs and Perry over Punk, and is getting burned by it constantly. Hell, the only 'Pillar' that apparently is even worth WWE picking up is MJF.

So, in summary, Tony talks through Dave and Jack talks through Bryan.
