I have not been drinking coffee since my ulcer but when I did it was black no sugar, cream, or milk especially no ice switched to Earl Grey Tea but it is only for caffeine if I was going for flavor soda or juice

As someone who adores the scent and taste of black filter coffee, and used to drink it by the gallon as a teen but can no longer thanks to parietal/gastric issues, this discussion is making me very nostalgic and depressed.

Until last spring, I had not had much coffee since I drank my mom's leftover coffee when I was a kid. I had to put so much sugar and CoffeeMate just to make it drinkable back then. Last spring, I decided to give coffee one more shot, so I got an Aeropress, an electric kettle and a coffee bean grinder. The Aeropress does take out the bitterness, enough so all I need to add to it is 4 - 6 sugars.

Typed it before, typing it again. Coffee comes from a berry. It is natural. Now how temperate folk handle plain bean coffee the unnatural mystery. I can't drink that stuff without a chaser, and I'm positive that's why police like donuts, to wash out that coffee taste. My dad can drink it black like water, and only chases it with water for health reasons, but that's only because I was such a pain to raise on his own that he had to adapt. And even then he can't just drink anyone's bean coffee, had to do it himself until Starbucks became a big chain.

I agree with Jim on this point. Cheap coffee is bad and over roasted coffee smells like stunk oil. Coffee can be inexpensive and not be cheap. Whole bean fresh coffee is good. Just filters and coffee. Ice tea tho is good

I quit drinking coffee about 4 or 5 years ago. Haven't missed it since, even though I used to drink it every morning for years. And when I did drink it, I never would specially go out for it like Brian did, lol. I just used a Keurig, or even instant coffee. With instant, you could make it as strong as you wanted as well. I didn't mind the taste since I usually put creamer and honey in my coffee. And Brian, it just makes your argument sound *worse* when you point out you have 4-5 different coffee makers at home, but still didn't want to use any of them, lmao.

I didn't drink coffee for a long time. I started drinking it annually at a work conference where after partying the night before I needed something to keep me awake for the work part of the conference the next day. At first it was just fuel but eventually I grew to actually like it and started drinking it regularly in my mid-30's. If Jim has only had two sips from when he was a teen then he really doesn't know what he's missing out on. I also used to not like wine or beer. Like those, coffee is an acquired taste but once you get the taste for it it's great. Though Brian's household has complicated their coffee prep too much. It probably did take less time for him to drive to Dunkin' Donuts than for him to get all his home coffee ducks in a row but the the fact that that is the situation is what's worthy of criticism.

I only started drinking coffee 3-4 years ago after drinking only tea, water, & OJ for the majority of my life. I hated the taste ever since I was little, I guess I gave it a chance when I was older & happened to find a flavor I liked that day. I just like some particular tastes & it's a good diuretic, though I never got the energy spark everyone talks about.

Not a coffee drinker, that aside, something else I have never understood, IF you are buying groceries why do you buy stuff you don't actually use? "Bad sugar" WTF? Throw it out and don't buy something you won't eat or use. I also don't get how someone can spend hours grocery shopping, with exceptions most people eat the same things again and again, why are you spending hours shopping for something that you know and its been in the same place in the store for decades.
