Jesus Zamora NXT , NWA powerr, NJPW are close to real modern wrestling. NJPW wrestling is all about strong style and traditional form of sport wrestling. They don’t get into the Entertainment with stupidity in storyline. The njpw wrestlers do their own character development without scripted. NWA powerr is all about clever wrestling matches with amazing promo in the ends. It’s old school wrestling with 1980 theme. However, NWA powerr will grow into the new modern era wrestling. NXT is a new wwe with a modern twisted. NXT suppose to be a development company for wrestlers to move on to the main roster. However, NXT is kicking WWE main roster ass for a long time. I think NXT will be the next big thing in pro wrestling. If HHH grabs Jim Cornette to bring in NXT. Modern wrestling fans and some pro wrestlers will lose their shit. Because Jim Cornette is the most infamous in pro wrestling. If Jim Cornette sittings in the audience people will be talking in twitter. Jim Cornette got some pretty good insight on how to bookings their wrestlers. Anyway, (N)WA powerr , (N)JPW, (N)XT has everything in common is: 1. Their first Letter is N 2. Their matches are not stupid. 3. They focused on common sense storyline that is clever and relatable.

I respect Jim's opinion because it's his opinion. I've been watching WWF/WCW/AWA/NWA since I was 7. 42 now, I enjoy AEW for what it is, it's fun for what it is. Now ROH,NJPW,MLW,NWA. I will watch over AEW or WWE. Because. Both of those get way to goofy. Not to say the others don't, but they don't do it as much. Now.. NWA has me hooked pretty much for over a year now. The only show I look forward to, out of any wrestling out there.

Are they really petite when most of the roster is of similar size? The two largest male wrestlers on their roster are Hager and Wardlow at around 260. The average size of the rest of the male roster is around 5 9 and 200 lbs. Obviously this is an estimate with some being bigger than that (Dustin Rhodes or Jon Moxley) and some being smaller (Darby Allin and Jungle Boy).

When I got into wrestling, I knew it was a work, but I was able to get behind the characters. I knew The Undertaker wasn't really an undead zombie from the old west or some satanic monster, but I could see him as a guy using that imagery to play mind games. I could totally believe Mick Foley and Terry Funk were actually crazy. I could believe that there was real heat between Stone Cold and Vince, or that Hulk Hogan was the all American hero. I knew it was "fake", but the characters got me invested and I enjoyed watching them beat the crap out of each other.

Yes he is. I like AEW, because it's another wrestling show to watch. The first thing that I shook my head at was Jericho vs Darby Allin. This was a Philadelphia Street Fight, but for some reason there were rope breaks in it. Huh??? It's a street fight meaning there is no DQ. If I'm in the match and hold the ropes past the 5 count, what the hell is the ref gonna do???

I'm already getting tired of the honeymoon phase that fans are in with AEW. From listening to them, you would think that WWE hasn't had a good storyline or even a good moment in the last decade.

What I'm about to say is gonna piss off the AEW faithful if they read it, but I prefer NXT over AEW at the moment. This past week having the OC come out and face Ciampa, Lee, and Riddle was solid. Then Balor coming out and giving AJ the 2 guns while AJ gave him too sweet, got me even more excited. Also, not a fan of the Inner Circle. When I look at them as a whole, they don't seem to fit together. That's not a knock on the talent themselves because I like all of them. It just feels like a hodge podge of guys similar to Aces and Eights in Impact. I'd take the Undisputed Era over them all day. I try to be objective whenever I watch a show. Sadly, I don't see the hardcore AEW fans being that way.

Wrestling changes with the times but it also doesn't. Every era has the stuff that could be considered goofy. Shit look at when Cornette was a fan before he got into the business or even his era. You had George Steele who was a wild man, Adrian Adonis who was a pretty boy, Ted DiBiase, IRS, The Undertaker, Kane and even Cornette himself. Jim has a very narrow look on what Wrestling should be. He thinks that you have to do it in a certain way, the way he watched and liked. People typically confuse Jim only liking not indie stuff like WWE or even that he liked the Attitude Era. What Jim is a fan of is certain territories way of wrestling. Jim focuses a lot on the context of a situation when explaining the 'goofy shit' that he liked or booked back in the day, however, he simply doesn't have that context in the wrestling he watches. And at the end of the day, All Elite is looking for the 50+ market of a wrestling fan. AEW will be looking to get younger people into wrestling, not to make it mainstream but to attract a large audience of people that will want to watch AEW. I imagine AEW are looking to grab 16-40 year old. People who were young during the attitude era. As an 18 year old, I can tell you that AEW is a lot better viewing for a young person than WWE, and what Jim is trying to do is to pull in an audience of babies to old people on their death beds. Where you can't really do that much anymore, you have to select your audience and try and pull them in and from there you can start appealing to other people. As long as your main demographic is strong enough that you won't risk running some of them off.

What Kayfabe really is is a fictional work keeping its story straight. When you watch a TV show or a movie or read a book or whatever it establishes the world it is in and then things happen that follow the rules of that world. If I'm watching Star Wars I can accept somebody using the Force, even though there is no such thing in real life, because it is established in that fictional world that that is a thing that exists and is plausible. If someone was using the Force in The Sopranos it would destroy the show. Wrestling is a show about a combat sport, presented as if you are watching a real sports broadcast or are attending a real sporting event live. So kayfabe is just making sure that this fictional work fits within that established reality. So something like a penis suplex looks ridiculous because it is inconsistent with the established reality. Same with anything that openly acknowledges that wrestling is fake. The Rocky movies are fake but Rocky doesn't sometimes identify himself as Sylvester Stallone in the movie and acknowledge he's an actor. As a result you can get emotionally invested in it despite being fully aware that it's not something actually happening and the characters are not real people. If your entire promotion is goofy comedy wrestling then I think that can be consistent with the established fictional setting but then you can't mix it with serious stuff or acknowledge it in a wrestling league that is playing it straight.

Mr. Wombatt there are so many spots in each match that you forget about most of them once the match is over, plus the camera only catches some of them anyway. Every match also feels like it goes 3-4 minutes TOO long which takes you out of it. Gimmicks either don’t exist or aren’t explained. There have been multiple times throughout every single episode of Dynamite where the rules of the match are very confusing, people not getting counting while on the outside, lack of counts during tag team matches, rope breaks in No DQ matches, yet they try to make it realistic via time limits and W/L records on the lower third graphics. So yeah there’s a lot of wrestling as far as wrestlers in a ring, but I guess if a lot of it doesn’t make sense and makes it hard to suspend disbelief, it’s not GOOD wrestling. It is, in some ways, good SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, and AEW so far has been good at sports entertainment, as triggering as it may be for them to realize it.
