Would be awesome, but they are using the likeness of these people. For a KZbin thumbnail that's fine, but as soon as you start making a profit from their likeness (like selling merch with their faces on) then they have the right to be compensated. For some of these folks that are portrayed in a positive light (like the Rock n Roll/ Midnight Express guys) will probably not have an issue. In this angle Jim said something like "We are the real NWA, and this is the official NWA championship. Any organization claiming to trace the lineage of their championship to the NWA championship is lying. As far as we're concerned the WWF and others are outlaw promotions, and soon we'll put all these outlaw promotions back under the control of the NWA." If they had portrayed them like legitimate threats, I think this angle could've been salvaged. I really like the idea of an old and vengeful empire trying to reclaim its old territory. They could've made the NWA into something like a conspiracy or something, like it turns out X wrestler has been working for the NWA this whole time because they want wrestling to be old school.

As an avid WWF viewer in the 90s, the NWA invasion was trash. With all due respect to the NWA talent involved, the Raw audience gave ZERO shits about them. Regardless of quality, to the general audience the NWA was a dead brand. With all due respect to the man, no amount of build could have gotten mullet-wearing out-of-shape Ricky Morton over to the WWF audience in 1998.

I remember this. This was before general fans were wise to other promotions. I knew about WWF and WCW since that was all that was on to in the UK. And almost no WCW until Nitro, but you could buy videos of events. I thought the Rock n Roll Expressed looked like a couple of weak, short old men who in no way looked a threat to the WWE athletes. I couldn't take them seriously. A bit like Jim now feels about a lot of AEW guys. I felt the same about Flair in his first WWE run. He looked like a little old man in the world of steroid stars. I'd seen him on some videos but his fame and legacy hadn't really touched the UK at that point. He worked as a heel though because he cheated so it was ok if he looked weak. The NWA angle could have worked if they had some wrestlers who looked like they could compete with the WWF guys. Wrestlers Vince might have wanted to keep.
