I feel your pain. I'm 71 and technology drives me crazy. I didn't get a smartphone until I was 65, they don't come with an owner's manual, and I don't have any children to teach me how to use it. My pet peave now is calling customer service, for anyplace. Nobody picks up a phone anymore and asks how they can help you. Now everyone has an automated system that runs you in circles pressing numbers for five minutes, then gives you a website that supposedly saves you time. If you do accidentally get an option for a representative, get ready to grow old waiting because they are always experiencing an unusually high volume of calls.

Exactly! You nailed it.

I feel your pain, and Im 40. Its not about the advancement of technology but large corporations trying to make everything simple and effective (saving money by not having to hire more people) through all this nonsense but it simply doesn't work. I refuse to call customer service. When I have a problem, I go to their store and I sit in front of them and let them call.

Went to the … store to buy a phone, the salesman began telling my wife how to use the phone what to do if it didn’t work. My wife looked at him and asked if he had a grandmother, he answered yes, she then told him to make believe he was explaining to her what he had just said. The next 10 minutes were filled with simple terms and it was all very clear.

Years ago (decades, really) I went with a friend to see her at a comedy club in Stamford, CT. They gave us a table, which abutted the stage, against the wall, to her right. I laughed so hard that I had to lean against the wall to keep myself upright. After the show, as we were leaving, she came to the lobby to schmooze with the audience. I told her that I'd been a fan since "Women of the Night". She said, "I know you. Whenever I thought I was bombing I looked over at you leaning against the wall and knew I was OK" Only too happy to serve.
