Yes, all true. My husband is from Oakland, CA. He moved here, North Georgia, at 16. We've known each other for 46 years. He still calls me country. He's terrified of snakes and spiders. He opened the closet door to find a 6 ft long king snake staring at him. And, his reaction was priceless. He slammed the door and stuck to it, as if an Anaconda was going to attack him. I told him to stop, you're scaring it to death!! I caught it and put it outside, no big deal here. They just come inside sometimes, especially when it's 100 degrees in the shade. 😂😮😅😊

Here in Oklahoma we get earthquakes and tornadoes. When we hear thunder and a little shaking we just had an earthquake. When we have thunder and lightning in a rain storm, if the wind is high, we start looking outside for a tornado only if the sirens go off.

That's why it's good to keep your basement or shelter prepped ahead of time with water, food, flashlights, blankets, a weather radio, entertainment for kids (as sometimes it can last hours), keep the phones charged...etc. That way you don't have to scramble for everything last minute. And pay attention to the weather alerts and radar to see where it is. You won't be able to see it if it's at night or if it's rain-wrapped, so the radar helps. We also prep our porch and yard ahead of time so shit doesn't blow away, and ALWAYS anchor your trampoline! 😂

My mother used to suck them up the vacuum cleaner. That is how you deal with the gigantic Aussie spider females and male legs (mid 1960’s). One evening (Now BC, Canada, late 1970’s) she threw the telephone book at one and told me she had killed it. Na-aa. It was still alive 19 hours later! It had been stuck under the book all night and most of the next day trying to get up and crawl out. Yup…vacuum cleaner deployed. Strangely, I am the only person on my mother’s side of the family that is NOT an arachnophobe. And I can’t claim adoption or a hospital mix-up because my mother had me at home. Now as an adult, I pick them up, mostly in a glass trap, sometimes without and chuck them out the kitchen window. Usually this was late at night and we were on the second floor. I used to wonder what would happen if someone was down below…but then the thought occurred that if they were looking in someone’s window…they deserve to have a spider thrown down on them…

Anjelah would appreciate this; After I moved from Boston to CA I discovered bugs I'd never heard of before. I opened the bathroom door one morning and lo and behold, there was the biggest mosquito *I had ever seen in my life* on the back of the bathroom door. I was able to see it reflected in the mirror. I woke up my husband and sent him in to do battle with the beast. As he slowly opened the door and looked, his eyes bugged out of his head just like mine had. Its legs covered almost the whole width of the door! So, I pushed him in and slammed the door shut, expecting him to do battle and vanquish the beast. He emerged bloody and bruised, but victorious. We came to find out afterward that it was actually a mosquito *dragon*. Never heard of them before. They actually feed on mosquitos! 😲

The interesting thing is there are few houses with basements outside of the Midwest. Some areas have storm shelters outside like in "The Wizard of Oz". Head to the bathroom, which has reinforced walls with pipes in it.

I live in Pa and I went to visit my sister who lives in N.C., Her son was off to college and I took his room. Well her hubby went to bed, she passed out on the couch so I went in to bed. I pulled the covers back and I completely lost it. I woke my sister up and we never did find the bug. It was a palmetto bug …it was Huge!

I live in Texas and when we get bad tornado-like weather (and as long as a tornado is NOT in my path) I like to play the movie "Twister" cuz the wind and the trees and the lightening and thunder makes for a GREAT surround sound accompanying the movie. .

Wow I'm beyond impressed, she's an elite imo as far as female "comedians" are concerned. Too many times I've daydreamed/fell asleep trying to give the benefit of the doubt to many. I can legitimately call this wonderful woman a comedian and it's such a relief. Aspiring female comedians? This is the standard you should take notes from!

We just had an F3 rip through a few mobile home parks in my area. Some of the parks that were hit had a requirement that the trailers have ground straps. Those strapped to the ground had some porch roofs and sheds missing. The people inside said they could feel the trailers trying to lift but ultimately the straps did their job. The parks that didn't have that rule: they look like war zones and there were casualties.

Richard was night stalker. He preyed on yellow houses. I lived in LA in a yellow house. Not too far from one of his victims. He bit them and my friends dad was a cop, he warned us to be careful at the store or dance clubs about a guy who had dark hair and crooked teeth. We didn’t know why back then. He couldn’t tell us much but once he was caught and we knew almost all his victims lived or were visiting yellow houses. Omfg we painted our house gray afterwards.

My son went to a really great college in NYC. But the dorm building he was in was ancient and rooms the size of someone’s regular sized walk in closet with a tiny bathroom you had to shift around to move within. Every night he said this huge cockroach would come out of the drain in his sink to visit. He named it. He doesn’t have the heart to harm anything, so it would just visit the sink and leave. NYC. You’ve gotta love it.

There's roaches, waterbugs and palmetto bugs (Florida anyway). Waterbugs are like roaches but just like drains. Unsure of which one since it's NYC though.

I live in the south. We went to a local festival that went pretty late, so we got home and went straight to bed. My son was three, still using the little potty on the floor, and needed someone to go with him to the bathroom. We're both half asleep, but he starts talking about a frog. I'm like no that's a leaf we must have brought back home. Big brown, like the size of his hand. Then i get closer bc I'm blind and not wearing my glasses. It was a giant cockroach. I had to just grab a cup and put it over it. Then wake up my husband. We are a catch and release home, but some things do not get to live and i could not be the one to do it. It truly was the size of a frog.
