We need you now more than ever. I wish I felt like celebrating. I usually struggle to make Christmas worthwhile,and don't have relatives (that I speak to) to motivate me. Back in August I bought the white tree with blue ornaments that I've wanted since I was 8, but it'll probably sit in the box.

I know what you mean, but I think you should set it up. Do some other things you enjoyed as a kid. I'm naturally a pessimistic person, but I'm trying to find some joy for my family. We'll go into the forest and cut down our tree and really do it up this year. Honestly, I just don't know what the next few years will look like.

Eugene was an interesting place in the 70s. Southern OR was awesome in the 70s. I briefly attended college there but got caught up in the counter culture. Hippies were everywhere - they even took over a whole town called Takilma. Fun times.

Senior year at Springbrook, the guidance counselor (forget his name - Mr. P? - though I can picture him!) asked where I wanted to go to college. I told him I wanted to go to Hopkins and become a doctor. He laughed and said I couldn't because I was a girl! So I went to Goucher. My mom had gone to Mills in Oakland. I've often wondered what my life would have been like if she'd argued for her alma mater and I'd ended up in the Bay area in 1966! Those roads that diverge and the paths we take. Government employees that think they might get let go under the new administration, one of my suggestions would be to go get a part-time job during the holiday season and establish yourself to give you a way of possibly getting a full-time job and transitioning into something. The holiday season is a good place to get your foot in the door with a retailer at least, along with making a little extra money that you need to save in case something does happen

I actually love Christmas time. I like the TV specials, the cookies, caroling, Santa’s, lights, music etc You can still mourn and grieve. At Wash U which is half Jewish we all still celebrate Diwali and Christmas and Chanukah and they represent light in the darkness. We don’t need hope when we get our way we don’t need hope when the qualified candidate wins. We need some hope and feasting now as much as ever. I believe America set itself and the rest of the world for a Great Depression and possibly a world war. Here is my ray of hope. Both Japan and Germany are world class countries to visit right now. Give the USA 85 years and we’ll be ok again.
