Layne really went above and beyond with this arrangement. And I agree with you regarding the way that the higher voices are able to switch between having a beautiful blend and then each having such different textures when singing individually. Eli's voice especially just shifts seamlessly between that smooth blend and his individual gritty rock sound. Also, I'm on the bandwagon of hoping that DeeJay Young might be taking the role of Tenor 1 more permanently. 🤞 Just imagining the riff-offs between him and Eli gives me chills!

I agree, I also think that Deejay would be such a perfect tenor 1 for VoicePlay!

This was especially hitting close to home for them because J None is temporarily leaving the group to serve in the Navy. They did an awesome job. Great reaction!😁

I really enjoy the way you break down the techniques. VoicePlay has been knocking it out of the park with beautiful and unique arrangements this year. Check out "Eleanor Rigby", "Go the Distance", and "Bang!". All really different from one another but SO good!

Those are all fantastic performances. As I mentioned at the end of this vid, I’ve seen all of their other work, but if I see multiple requests for a breakdown/analysis (not reaction) of any of their previous sounds, maybe I could make a video out of that :)

Eleanor Rigby is criminally underrated. The arrangement is superb

@@laundrygoddess4 Eleanor Rigby was the very first Voiceplay video I watched, and it was only because I had just watched an online Beatles lecture series, and was searching on KZbin to listen to the various versions of that song that Paul McCartney had done over the years. Voiceplay's video kept coming up as a suggestion, and I had finally clicked on it. I absolutely no idea that acapella groups even existed, and that arrangement blew my mind so much that I watched it about six times. I loved it and was intrigued by Goeff's voice even though he really is not singing really low in it, and once I saw one of their more 'theatrical' songs, I was permanently hooked on them!

You’ve done two VoicePlay now. Would you consider reacting to Home Free cover of Helplessly Hoping? I don’t think country is your usual choice. But I maintain that Home Free has at least one song that every person will enjoy. Plus I think you will enjoy the harmonies. I enjoy your reactions. And I look forward to more VoicePlay and/or Geoff Castelucci reactions, too.

You need to hear their arrangement of BANG! So much fun. So sad that this is one of the last 2 videos that J will be in. He's joined the Navy I think.

Personally, I think that they're usually consistently awesome, even when things do stand out. I think that's more like, "everything is already great but let's draw your attention to this for a while" 😊. Thanks for another great reaction! Hope you'll do their next one coming in about a week as well! Since your last reaction, I've found myself checking your channel for more, so now I've subscribed.

Haha, I’m so glad!! I originally had Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze in that spot, but that got the video blocked so I had to re-edit and re-upload, which is why it came out so much later than I wanted it to. Glad you liked the song choice 😄

I enjoyed your reaction/analysis very much. I’m a singer and love acapella songs, they’re so much fun to sing! I also have voice lessons and am looking forward to being able to meet for lessons and choir practice again soon - lockdown has been brutal for music lovers and performers especially. You obviously know your stuff and I hope to learn more from you. Subbed ❤️

Please react to "Misty Mountains", by Peter Hollens, featuring Tim Faust , of Home Free group. It's a cover of the song from the movie "The Hobbit". Peter layers his high vocals and Tim brings the bass . It's magical!

Great reaction! You should definitely check out some Homefree! You will not be disappointed! Check out their mashup of Ed Sheerans ThinkungvOut Loud and Marvin Gaye's Let's get it on. It is Amazing. Or their cover of When a Man Loves a Woman. They do all genres of music. 5 incredibly talented guys. Their bass guy has a 5 octave singing range. Their beatboxer/ vocal percussionist is a national champion. Their harmonies are phenomenal! Thank you.

I have a question. Does Van Canto qualify as an A Capella group? I know they would if they had a beat-boxer instead of a drummer. Also are you familiar with the A Capella group Eclipse 6? So I guess I had two questions.
