"I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way." That line is seemingly contradictory. But when you've lived a long time, you realize how much sense it makes.

i'm not sure why it's this specific song that stands out the most in my memory, but when i was probably 12, so in probably 1998 (+- 2 years to be honest), i was walking around the national mall in D.C. with my dad. i grew up just outside the city in arlington/fairfax counties, and my dad and i would occasionally make the quick trip downtown when the weather was nice and stop by a few museums, grab lunch, etc. while we were just walking somewhat aimlessly between the washington monument and the capitol, my dad stopped and cocked his head and said "i hear music. it sounds like paul simon. let's go." we followed the sound to a small stage where a few people had gathered to listen, and my dad was understandably surprised to see the actual paul simon up there. i believe he was playing in D.C. that night, and i guess (someone who has followed him more closely can hopefully verify) that was a thing he often did - an unannounced rehearsal the afternoon before a concert. i wish i could have better appreciated what i was experiencing - there were literally less than 30 people nearby enjoying this, and at 12 years old, i didn't know hardly any of his songs besides mrs. robinson and cecilia - but i vividly remember him playing this song and me attempting to quickly learn the lyrics to the chorus so i could impress my dad by appearing to know the song. i'm fortunate enough that i can still spend time with my dad when i want, and music has always been a big part of our relationship, but i want to thank paul for providing me with this memory that i'll never forget

Apparently it's about a homosexual relationship. I hope people don't cancel it or boycott it now. Beautiful song. Must have been a story in Newsweek?. I know Simon wrote his Broadway play Capeman based on a newspaper story. Topical, artistic, brilliant. One of the few artists my Mom liked those days. Everything got real dark bc of Vietnam. I just think it's so cool that somebody could blatantly talk about 1 thing and facilitate people feeling/thinking something else. True artistry no matter how u feel about the subject.

My best memory (tbh, my only memory) of this song was when my older sister (who was de facto my mother figure) was taking me to school.. maybe 7th or 8th grade? This came on the radio, and I had to turn it up loud, and she was cool and let me... We had a fucked up family dynamic, which is why she was what she was, lol... but I always loved her, even when she moved away with her husband and kids... I've always felt this was one of my cleanest and brightest memories.... years later, my sister died and was buried a month before I was even told about it... like I said, fucked up family dynamic: she wanted to spare me grief over something I couldn't control, but I wish I'd had a chance to tell her how much she meant to me.

Good, humorous, lighthearted, joyful, catchy sounds so simple yet todays music just can't replicate this as much as it tries

Amazing song. First time I heard this was on my grandpa's jukebox in the late 90's when I was a little kid. Will definitely always hold a special place in my heart.

Ashkenazim kids, like Britts, definetly have something very special musically. Their People gave us so many amazing musicians. I am wondering if there is a musical gene?

When I was living in New York City back in the 1980s, this song got air play on a lot of radio stations. However, I didn't hear it as much on radio stations out in Los Angeles after I moved out there. Then again, New York City is Paul Simon's hometown, so I can understand why more radio stations there would play this song than anywhere else. In any event, every radio station here in our nation should play this song. I give this song a thumbs-up. :-)
