It did get into the Top 20 in the UK in March/April 1986,as the follow-up to the number 1 hit West End Girls. Love Comes Quickly was released as a single after the album was released, and I think a lot of people had already bought the album, so didn't bother to buy the single. Having left home at a young age from an abusive house in 1985 and moving overseas, I felt alone and invisible. These guys and their music spoke to me and acknowledged my pain. "King's Cross", in particular, made me realize the reality of my situation - that I would never be loved at home, and that I couldn't go back. At least, I knew that I was not alone in the world, and that there were others who were feeling the same way. I was 18. I'm 56 now, and I will be forever grateful for their music. When West End Girl first came out, I immediately fell in love with this genius SynthPop duo. It was so fresh and different. When they released Love Comes Quickly as the second single, I knew I would be a fan. And I’ve been listening to them, all their releases since. They have too many masterpieces to name, but this will have to be my favourite. It’s just perfect. The trumpet or clarinet sound towards the end, which is more prominent in the 12” version, was hauntingly beautiful. Listening to it now more than 35 years later, it’s almost heart-achingly nostalgic. Pet Shop Boys, it’s been a pleasurable and memorable musical journey ❤

They actually were one the top bands of the 80s, they had lots of number ones, most notably West End Girls and it's a Sin, this one got to about number 7, it was their debut single about 1984

@@andrewisotope8146 Thank you Andrew for all your interesting information. I admired almost all pop and soft rock bands from the 80’s era. I was actually raised listening to these kind of music. Stay safe...and thanks again.

They should have continued with the kind of new wave romantic, sentimental sound. 30 years later in 2016 this song still sounds so great and softens my soul thinking about how I felt back then. One of the best albums of 1986.

dampen damp they wouldn't have survived the 90s with that music style and that would have been unfortunate, because some of their best stuff had yet to come (thinking of the "Yes" album).

Ronald Schwartz they were good times for me, being a teenager back then, love was always around. Sorry but when you hit your 40's you realise that love is for young fools and poets. Sorry people, that's just how it is unless your doing it financially. Cheers people.

TheGodParticle........wise words....you have to make your own dreams and achievements come true and enjoy it on your own, before you get taken advantage by some crazy so called , I love you..person....(the devil never sleeps ).I have seen that happening to a lot of people......be careful....very careful....
