For me. it is almost 40 years. LOL. Graham Bonnet singing this great song with that beautiful girl dancing off to the side was my favorite MTV video watching as a young teen in 1979, early 1980s. It still is today 39 years later.
@smmx656 жыл бұрын
Why do lyrics have to rhyme?
@nycinstyle6 жыл бұрын
Most songs contain verses with lyrics that purposefully rhyme certainly at various times. Not necessary though, always. That is for sure. A well written song is a well written song and it comes across to listeners as just that. This great song and Paul Simon's "America" come to mind. The lyrics ending every line dont rhyme with the previous line, etc., nor do lyrics rhyme too often in any other rhyming pattern. Most all songs do. It is rather unusual.

However this is Gram Bonnet & although required a different style of singing The Man really shocked me back then AND still today i just cant stop replaying & watching the TWO SCREAMS & the way he makes a point to just reeeeach for it & just YANKs his voice UP Then STILL UP AGAIN another level during the same word! I NEVER SEEN /HEARD /WATCHED anyone accelerate their voice like this ! Who knew their could be more in him to step the scream into a scream!!!???? Ha haha ha ha!!! Wow! & then when the lyrics return for the 2nd round , the camara jumps to him mid scream , his hands already feeling the need to help THROW his voice even further out towards the back of the arena in case their was a “hearing impaired” RAINBOW FAN that might not heard the first roll threw!!! & AGAIN pulls off liftoff mid flight but to the highest level of the song!! WHEW!!! he coulda “started” the song witha “MIC DROP” ! Guess he knew he had huge shoes to fill AND NAILS IT!!!! Thanks for that Gram!!! Ya won me over First time!!!

I heard Blackmore say, a couple of years ago, that in his view it's not how many notes you can play a second, it's the feel of it. A great riff and something with a bit of soul is infinitely better than clinical, over-worked, shredding. I could identify guitarists back then on my first hearing of a release. Cozy was a big reason why he was in Rainbow. And why he would rejoin him in MSG. When Cozy left MSG Graham's days were numbered. I am glad all these miss and matches were made by Sabbath Purple and Rainbow. Graham Bonnet I first knew from Alcatrazz, whata great job he did there. Same here. Unique and graceful personality.

Saw Rainbow with this line-up, supported by Rose Tattoo at the long-gone Queens Hall in Leeds, around 1979/80. There was more rust than roof, and still to this day, couldn't say whether it was rain or condensed sweat dropping back down from what was left of the roof that soaked you through whenever you saw a gig there. Aaah Happy days... and totally brilliant music...

WTF! Blackmore, Glover, Bonnet, Powell and Airey? This is not a band, this is a SUPERGROUP.

Wow, I always loved this song as a youth but this is the first time I have seen it performed and I must say that Bonnet's appearance certainly belies that tremendous powerful voice! Looking at him without hearing him, you would never suspect that he could sing so powerfully or so well.

I saw Bonnet at the Arcada Theatre in Illinois a number of years ago and at around 70 he can still sing
