Officials release bodycam footage of Ma’Khia Bryant shooting

Officials have released audio of a 911 call and bodycam footage which shows the fatal police shooting of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.
In the footage, the teenager appeared to be holding a knife as she pinned another woman against a car before multiple gunshots were fired by Officer Nicholas Reardon.
On the 911 call, a woman urged the phone operator to bring police to the property in Columbus, Ohio.
“We need a police officer here now,” a woman can be heard on the call.
“We got these grown girls over here trying to fight us, trying to stab us.
“We need a police officer here now.”
Officers attempted “life-saving measures” after the shooting and Ma’Khia was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Ma’Khia’s mother Paula Bryant told US media the teenager had called the police for “protection”.
Officials said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation would lead an independent probe into the incident.

At the moment of the attempted stabbing it was no longer self defense. She was in full control of the situation and had every intention of stabbing the other person out of anger. This is proven by her statement of, "I'm going to stab the fuck out of you bitch". I think it's horrible that she had to die, she was still young with her whole life ahead of her and I wish this could've gone differently. Ideally he could've used a taser, but it wasn't an ideal situation. Tasers don't always take a person down due to different factors including weight or drugs in the system, and in that moment he had to act quickly or the other person would've been killed. Deadly force is allowed when another person's life is in immediate danger. In some cases police brutality or police killings are racially motivated, but I'm not sure that was the case on this particular incident.

The kid got into a fight and chose to fight with a knife, biggest mistake of her short life. What we don't know yet is why she was in a fight, who instigated the fight or who introduced the knife to the fight. For all we know, she may have been a sweet nurturing peaceful girl fighting for her life after being attacked. The cops knew none of that, they just responded to an urgent call for help, saw a kid with a knife about to inflict serious, possibly life threatening injuries on another kid. At that point there was no good outcome possible and the cop had seconds to decide which bad outcome to go for.
