Easton had to change the song's title here in the US and Canada due to not releasing it on our continent until the 9 to 5 movie and Dolly Parton's title track coming out between the time Easton released the song in her native UK and the time she released it here in North America. That's why I sometimes forget this banger's original title. I went a bit too long without listening to it.

The song is pure pop genius. Nothing to take away, nothing to add. And her vocal range is amazing. Also the video is pure 80´s gold, just the style which somebody calls bad, but when you thing about it - how original and fresh is this compared to the videos of today? Of course, different strokes for different folks. But my definite opinion is this. And dear Lord how beautiful is she.

In the city of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia there really was a TV commercial that was made advertising that city's train system that had people going to work on a train wearing suits, ties, hats, etc. and carrying briefcases. One of them starts to sing this song, and very soon every other passenger in the train carriage joins in. And imagine their shock when the train stops at the next station and standing there on the station platform is the one and only Sheena Easton, about to catch the same train with them.

@@lilyleon1475 Only in theory. Since the 1980s, when there was a huge variety and already highly advanced technology, music has taken a slide into the abyss. The 1990s were still great, although not as innovative and already a little narrow in terms of variety. But the average quality of post-2000 music is just horrendous. Obviously, in every era, there are wonderful pieces. But 1980s had the richest combination of audio quality, video quality, variety, and innovation. It is easy to determine from how many memorable songs of all kinds there are. For example, post-2010, there are literally just a few, compared to the countless hundreds from 1980s. Today, music is very limited in terms of style, there is often unbearable repetitiveness, etc. Obviously, if people became internally free and independent again, like so many were 40 years ago, music could shine again or even more, thanks to the basically unlimited audiovisual capabilities of today. But the problem is that most artists tend to conform to certain unhealthy trends that turn their creations into a monotonous mess.
@lilyleon1475
@lilyleon1475 2 жыл бұрын
@@jakubkrcma - What do you mean by "only in theory"? This isn't an academic subject we're talking about, it's purely subjective. Let me explain - for most of us, we'll identify the music at the time of our formative years and teens as the best, simply because that's what we identify with. I grew up in the 70s and loved the music from my generation, but now I'm older, I appreciate the music back then was written and performed by artistes, using real instruments and not synthesisers. So much so, I've gone back to the 60s and actually prefer the music of that time period. I can't say the same for the 80s, simply because the synth, killed off a lot of the creativeness and allowed any idiot to creative an automated backing track and sing to it. Look at the Stock, Aitken and Waterman hits for example. All sounded the same, but with different artists and a very polished video. Well, I listen to music for the musical content - I don't want the video and the difference here is that music from the 60s and 70s, were mainly heard on the radio and MTV changed all that. You make some good points and I agree with a lot of what you said, but returning to my original comment now, I maintain that 80's music is easily bettered and JJBgaming might agree, if he / she actually listened to music from the two decades previously.
@jakubkrcma

@@lilyleon1475 I love music from all eras, lots of stuff from 1950-1980. But 1980s were the turning point where stuff stopped going up and started to go down for me. When you said that it can be bettered, I thought you were referring to something post-1990 because of the chronological dependency of the verb to better. Clearly, the '60s and '70s were the peak of non-electronic music. A wonderful mix of modern music with more classical instruments.

I'll tell ya what. I'm old. I am. When this song came out, I was well into adulthood. I've heard so so so many tunes in my life, and honest to god, all genres, this is like Top 5 for me. Its obviously "pop", but it transcends that, too. It's just amazing.

This Classic Sheena Easton song first hit the airwaves in 1981 (my high school graduation 🎓 year). I always loved it, and had a teenage boy crush on beautiful Sheena Easton. I loved her and Olivia Newton John with "Physical" which came out months later I believe in 1981-82. Great memories! I miss that time period.😊😊👍😇🙏✝️♥️

[Verse 1] I wake up every morning I stumble out of bed Stretching and yawning Another day ahead It seems to last forever And time goes slowly by Till babe and me is together Then it starts to fly Cause the moment that he's with me Time can take a flight The moment that he's with me Everything's alright Night time is the right time We make love Then it's his and my time We take off [Chorus] My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him [Verse 2] He takes me to a movie Or to a restaurant To go slow dancing Anything I want Only when he's with me I catch light Only when he gives me Makes me feel alright [Chorus] My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him [Bridge] All day I think of him Dreaming of him constantly I'm crazy mad for him And he's crazy mad for me (crazy mad for me) When he steps off that train Amazingly full of fight Work all day to earn his pay So we can play all night [Chorus] My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him My baby takes the morning train He works from 9 to 5 and then He takes another home again To find me waiting for him (My baby takes the morning train) (He works from 9 to 5 and then) (He takes another home again) (To find me waiting for him)

Ashes to Ashes.... one of the greatest songs on 1980! My mum bouggt this and Ashes to Ashes. There were too many amazing songs to afford them all in the 80's! I always remember the songs mum bought around that time and the tape we used to play in the car.. Ashes to Ashes, Shandi, Winner Takes It All, 9 to 5, Downhearted, Dreamin'... so many good songs. I was only 3 when I started buying records at the age of three in 1980. It was hard to buy all the records I wanted with $5 a week pocket money when a single was $2.49/$2.99 and an album was $10.99. Which of course had climbed to $19.99 by the time 1989 came about and records were being phased out.
