Unc was def on that level. I remember we were going fishing one time when I was fourteen. He had this tiny little purple car. I think with an orange stripe down the side. We were at our destination but we had to go down and curve and up some to get to our fishing spot. So we're driving down there and I had my iPad from school and I was playing RUSH. He started laughing and said "haha wow. I guess you listened to me about music" not those words exactly but thereabouts. I miss those days a lot. KZbin is a place I come to somewhat relive my childhood. I wish I could turn back time and undo stuff I did. I hurt a lot of people. Maybe not physically but definitely emotionally. Special my Great Aunt who is basically my mom. She raised me. That woman has sacrificed so much for me and for a long time I wasn't grateful. I'm much more grateful now. A lot more. I'm a 73 year old white woman, and I've been listening to this everyday. Having been part of 1960s civil rights marches (was in DC with MLK in 1963 on the Mall) and lived in Chicago in 1968 when the town blew up after MLK and RFK were killed, I am glad I lived long enough to be part of this time of racial reckoning. I listed to Slick Rick in the 1980s and I am so happy to listen to him again today. Rick cared about the children back then who inherited poverty when the streets were their teachers. I hope I live long enough to witness better opportunities, a more fair and more equal union, when black children are no longer poor and other voices and opportunites are as available to them as to us.
