Thank you so much Matt for your critical thinking in 4x4 off road recovery. What you discussed in the video is of utmost importance for all 4x4 communities. Before going on a 4x4 off road adventure it is absolutely critical for all newcomers (and maybe also not-so-newcomers) to get training at a proper (accredited) 4x4 training centre. Why? Learning the safest and most effective & efficient techniques helps to increase human, vehicle and recovery gear [safety], and decreases off road recovery time and expenses! If you don't have to go through an obstacle, go around it. 3 Rules of off road recovery: Safety, Safety, Safety! Keep going, Matt - love your approach to 4x4 recovery - you are doing a sterling job. Kind regards,Joseph (Cape Town, South Africa).

damm, You have no idea how many times I have cried at some recoverys on YT (& whilst doing off-road competition). Its very common that 99% of winch owners don't know what they are doing with them. As you commented, training is everything. Keep it up - awesome explanations.
@OffRoadRecoveryLLC

we hear this a lot, we constantly have equipment companies asking us to use their gear and switch to their brand because most people on YT just send it and hope for the best, and we are trying to look at the situation plan and do it right the first time. So they want people like us backing their products

For those who ask these kinds of questions How many times have you seen a tow truck using a winch blanket?? The answer is none I have recovered and winched all kinds of vehicles is all kinds of predicaments.. And not once have I used a blanket or even snapped a cable.. Like Matt said if you know what your doing you will be the safest and won't need a blanket.. The only time you need a blanket is to keep the individuals warm that don't dress properly for the weather they are driving in..

Really enjoy the content and info. I stumbled across one of your videos and have watched a good bit since. The info provided is excellent and thorough! Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work. Be nice to see you offer some kind of class for this. Especially since I’m in your area. I’d be up for taking a class and finding out how you calculate your loads on a winch pull.

Yes. I mite be the only person around with blocks for an outlander… but a 3500 line to stuck, to tree, or back to stuck. Is so much better than trying to pull apart my little tube frame of a four wheeler… and it’ll pull out a pickup and nothing breaks. I almost never double up unless I’m only pulling myself and obviously not with my blocks. Which are just two pieces of 5x5” aluminum about 12” long. And that’s just enough to stall out 3500… no need to test it at 7000. And I never anchor the bike to anything. That’s what blocks are for. This video is gold if you never did towing for a living. Or at least had a class I guess.

Good video! Lot better than what I learned at "Hold My Beer U"! I'm learning to leave my hard shackles and steel snatch blocks in the storage case. Most of my recoveries are me wheeling, so the lessons on compound rigging hit home. I installed a forward-looking camera and can now keep the hood raised so it helps watching what the rigging is doing, or if the tree is starting to give way. Thanks for the schooling.

I can see one thing a winch blanket is useful for, and that's as a warning flag, e.g., if the line runs across a footpath. However, then the blanket needs to be a bright colour, such as yellow or orange, for it to be of any use. A black one is nearly useless under such circumstances. I keep a bright yellow one in my bag just for this purpose.

Not always but mostly the break strength is usually about 3 times safe working load limits. You can usually use those numbers for rough WLL specs.
@OffRoadRecoveryLLC
@OffRoadRecoveryLLC Жыл бұрын
Correct, but some manufacturers will use 3-1 some will use 4-1 and some use 5-1 But all of them are safer then 0-1

But if someone that’s never done any kind of recovery work ever that has absolutely no knowledge and all you shove in his head is break strength And nothing about WLL He’s going to assume break strength is the golden ticket

with the reduction of safe working load going down with each use in sythetic..... thus requiring replacement more often....... begins to look like wire rope is better cost over time?? (assuming wire rope's safe load limit does not reduce as fast as synthetic with each use. Maybe it does?

I learn the most from crane classes that’s where they break down rigging the most, different configurations of one chain set up will blow your mind of how weak one set up is vs how strong a different one is

I THINK I CAN SEE WHERE YOUR HEART IS IN THIS MATTER...but, wearing the 'White Hat' requires you to 'STICK TO THE FACTS'...you have basically but when you mix the FACTS with OPINION you muddy the water. Wearing the White Hat means staying on the High Ground & using Common Sense (a rare thing today). Don't get me wrong, I'm on your side until I am not, I'll tell you when that happens. Show your formulas when making up diagrams so others may learn on the spot...give them links to further their skill set in figuring their working loads. Don't leave yourself open to all the 'ARMCHAIR EXPERTS on the WEB'. Point out mistakes with your math, math is fact based but include all the load points, ie. that tree...there's a new discussion all by itself...the 'WLL' of Anchors. I admire what your doing and this is my first time watching, I just subbed...remember..."If your going to take the High Ground, stick with the FACTS and COMMON SENSE." (PS...[my opinion]...loose the T-Shirt, it doesn't look good under a White Hat.)

@@OffRoadRecoveryLLC Not taking sides, but when you use poor grammar and incorrect spelling in your posts it really detracts from your message. If you're trying to make a logical point about an inferior product but don't even take time to run your posts through spell/grammar check, then you have lost that argument. Using not useing Dollie is a girl's toy; dolly is a two wheeled hand truck. Supposed; suppose means to assume something to be true.

So let talk about your comment, I am suppose to contact a recovery equipment company who I might add is much bigger then our company, to notify them that their equipment is a reseller item found at 27 other companies and not their own, that their tagging and testing tags/certifications are missing or have wrong info on them? Also notify them that their training professional is out doing illegal recovery work without insurance or license. And says “I’m a volunteer” I’m voided from needing those. And I’m creating many other inexperienced untrained recovery equipment salesmen to sell someone else’s products with our name on it. Also I’m suppose to notify them that their guy is useing wrong equipment for the wrong thing to push sales? Also suppose to notify them of dangerous recovery videos he himself posted?? And I should contact him?? For your information Wes and myself have been in contact He stuck on I’m free I’m going to run every professional out of business And Create a million rookies with our gear I’m also not going to do things right I’m here to sell equipment Also offered me a sponsorship by the way which I declined Now for the trolling part? Showing videos where Mr Rhino the expert recovery guy is useing as “training” videos which he posted himself And going into detail of why they are wrong is trolling? 🤔 Now being a professional recovery guy I run into situations all the time where people who were trained by these guys have gone out and damaged peoples stuff and said tough shit bye Felecia Because rhino tells them your not a professional so when you do damage people stuff throw out Good Samaritan and leave Good policy Also people have died by these guys by the way Because they don’t know what they are doing period They are 100 percent guessing and getting lucky
