Every time you make one of your assist I learn more. good taying thanks, and I have a question if offset hooks work on short jigs 4 or 6 sm in other words what the minimum length of jig I can reg it with the offset hooks
@TheFishingKit7 ай бұрын
offsets are better for long jigs.

Awesome work! I saw these hooks at Barracuda but couldn’t tell if was for a slow assist or fast
@TheFishingKit9 ай бұрын
they can be used for both since its a medium wired hook.

Dang so pretty. I need to search your library for offset hook building. I don't know anything about the offset tool you have. Also what kind of thread are you using?
@TheFishingKit9 ай бұрын
It WAS made by Angler Support Service, which went under - but I have instructions on how you can make your own - just search the channel for "assist hook puller"

Can these hook be used to tie a fast jig assist hook? To be jigged on a fast blank. Should the hook eye be offset from the shank for slow assists ?
@TheFishingKit9 ай бұрын
I dont get the question with the eye of the hook...
@salt.mechanics9 ай бұрын
@@TheFishingKit sorry too many things in one question… the hook you presented has a short shank and an eye which is along the shank. Others have the eye tilted backwards away from the shank axis. Is there any preference of deciding which hook to be used with which jigging method based on the shank length and eye?
@TheFishingKit9 ай бұрын
OH....you mean upturned or downturned eye. Most jigging hooks have a slight upturned eye (eye going opposite from the point) This one has a straight eye. Majority of the jigging hooks have an upturned eye to make the cords hang straight and not have a bend. This, like needle eyed jigging hooks are designed to be rigged with a splice as a single hook. Mostly used for tuna fishing - I obviously didn't rig it like that for this jig - because the guy who is going to use it (Wael) likes offsets more than two single hooks. @@salt.mechanics
@salt.mechanics9 ай бұрын
@@TheFishingKit thanks for the info since i was looking for a tuna hook to pair it with slim semi long jigs . When i saw it in the shop i couldn’t decide if it was the right one to be rigged as a single assist hook or not. I also found one of your videos explaining assist hooks 🫣 cheers 🍻
