Wow when I heard $3800 plus tax+ for the Workhorse 1969, I am happy to have gotten my 1975 in February of last year for $3600 with shipping and tax included. Inflation is going up quickly and so is metal getting expensive! Me personally $5200 for the franklin is too overly hyped. I had both, and workhorse has done me better in my opinion. I sold my Franklins and bought the WH1975. On Franklins, there is less room to cook, 1/4" instead of 3/8" in WH all around, no top grate when its great for chicken ribs, oxtails, jerky, etc. Brisket is not the only option for bbq. Also no firebox which allows you to have direct fire cook for you food. And 4 thermometers have helped me when putting food close to the fire and farout depending what im cooking instead one 1 on Franklin's. Either way, great video explaining the differences.

Glad to finally see the 1969 and Franklin in the same video. I ordered a 1969 this year because of price and the cowboy firebox. I'm sure they both cook extremely well.

We've had the 1969 for about a year and a half, just love it. New to offset cooking, but the lack of a little work shelf is really my only complaint about the '69. I can probably get someone to make a fold down shelf, but that pit is about 750# and it's not leaving my backyard 😊 Also the door on the '69 is pretty heavy and I've noticed a trend that I'm getting a little bit older every year. Couldn't imagine having a 1975 lid to open. Franklins looks nice, but you're going to want more real estate than one cooking shelf. Temps on that '69 top shelf can balance out when your fire settles in.

Local BBQ dealer had trouble selling the Franklin and finally sold their last one after discounting 30%. They now are a Workhorse dealer and can’t keep them in stock.

Thanks for the breakdown! How does shipping to Nor Cal look for a Brazos? Not a dealbreaker, might be able to convince some family down south to hold onto something until I could pick it up 😂

5k is alot to spend on a backyard smoker thats not being used to make money with. Its not the pit its the pitmaster that makes good bbq
@TheBBQHQ
@TheBBQHQ 8 ай бұрын
Yes, 5k is a chunk of change. However we sell $5k plus gas grills an every day too. Yes, the pit is singularly not going to make the food, however I’ve cooked on plenty of smokers that will not turn out the level of food this does, especially a brisket, as easily as this one.

I own the larger workhorse 1975 wagon model…I’ve had smaller smokers and while I was able to turn out great bbq on them all, this next level pit makes it so much easier…the way the fat renders on briskets and the ability to cook 3-4 briskets with zero problem was what I was looking for…not to mention it’s a work of art that just looks bad ass sitting on my back patio…my last cook I had 3 briskets, 6 racks of ribs & 40 chicken wings all on at the same time with room for more…

If I was going to spend 5K on a smoker, I’d make sure that it would be big enough to run a small business off of it😎💯

These smokers are the cat's meow. Unfortunately the price point has doubled since 2020, more than 2X the rate of actual high inflation experienced during that time. Not just these pits, but all the high end offsets.

Brazos is definitely the most “bang for the buck”. Metal in the last few years has become exponentially more expensive. Yoders have doubled in price from when I started selling them 10 plus years ago.

@bayareaartist999
@bayareaartist999 2 ай бұрын
@@billbryant1288 I don't need to have one to see that the goldees is a game changer. That guy thinks outside of the box. You should buy a 6" 90° and build one for yourself. The fact that you can load 9 briskets in it at once instead of 4 in yours proves the point. Law of the jungle. Adapt or be left on the side of the road.
@billbryant1288

@@bayareaartist999 Maybe so, or maybe they are all so good that it's more the Indian than the arrow at this level and all make great BBQ if you do your part. (I never need to load 9 briskets; if I did, I'd be looking at none of these.) What are you cooking on?

Can buy the 1969 direct for $2300 and you sell for $3700?
@TheBBQHQ
@TheBBQHQ 9 ай бұрын
A few things about the difference in price: Workhorse has a lower price factory direct than we are held to as dealers. However, the wait far longer than you would get through a dealer if you go direct. They are supposed to move their prices up to match all their dealers. The other part of that is the cost of getting the smokers from GA to CA. It isn’t cheap!

That Franklin pit is overpriced for what you get. Not sure why anyone would pay 2k+ more for that vs a 1969 pit. The wheels and insulated firebox do not justify that price imo
@TheBBQHQ
@TheBBQHQ 10 ай бұрын
Overpriced is subjective. The 1969 and the Franklin are both fantastic cooking pits, and I enjoy cooking on both. The Franklin has a few nice touches and characteristics beyond the Firebox and wheels that some prefer. The rounded exhaust end of the chamber, the balance of the lid, the baffle design to name a few. Out here on the west coast it’s about a $1500 difference between a loaded out ‘69 and the Franklin. Always good conversations though. As I mentioned in the video it’s like cars 🤘

Stack extension can be done from Lowe’s with a piece of pipe and an insert for $15 bucks. So anyone watching this go buy it there and save your self money. And the franklin Pitt cost $5200 and it’s only a 20 inch chamber. The workhorse has a 24 inch pipe

Yes, the cheap ducting works but some prefer a more finished product. To each their own. Yes, the Franklin and the WH 1969 are 20” chambers. The 1975 moves to 24”.
