Musicians react to hearing BABYMETAL Syncopation「シンコペーション」 LIVE Compilation (HQ)

Syncopation is a big fan favourite but sadly they don't play it live very often. I waited years to finally get to see it live and I finally saw it at Legend MM this year and it was epic. Syncopation was the Japan exclusive track from the Metal Resistance album; the international version got the song From Dusk Til Dawn instead. For some reason, Koba thought that Syncopation was "too Japanese" for the international audience. For a long time, they didn't play it live outside Japan, but they played it once in 2019 in London, and they played it a few times on the 2023 world tour and most recently at Legend MM.

Our queen and princesses are undecided if they are really in love, like a syncopated heart. Syncopation was the song exclusively for Japanese album while "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released for International version of Metal Resistance (of course that's my next recommendation), although later on they performed this song outside of Japan because is a blast. Along with Karate, is one of those songs many fans got that anime vibes, for me Karate would be the opening and Syncopation the ending, although it works like an opening too. Till this day those were the only BM songs with that anime vibes for me, but after the new single Divine Attack - Shingeki came out now i got three songs lol In this live compilation Kano Fujihira is one of the avenger filling the third spot as a backup dancer, you can see the original trio performing this live at Tokyo Dome 2016 or live at Fox Festival 2017. The East Kami Band is playing in this live comp but the footage also shows the West Kami Band in another live show. You can also enjoy the newest official live version at Legend MM MomoMetal's 21 birthday last March. In October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it. Great reaction. This was a Japan exclusive track on the second album (the international release had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead - and completely different but equally excellent song .... live from Budokan 2021 for that one is the way to go). I was in London in 2019 the first time they played 'Syncopation' outside of Japan - the crowd went wild when the heartbeats started sounding, we knew what was about to happen and couldn't believe our good luck. Su said she was so surprised everybody there knew the song already since it had never been released in any form outside of Japan. This compilation used audio with the Kami Band of the East playing - BABYMETAL just recently released an official live performance video from Legend MM in March this year and that has the Kami Band of the West ... either Kami Band is excellent of course.

Good one, thanks. I still consider "Syncopation" their best song overall. I mean, once I put aside all my personal preferences and biasses (and I have a ton of them). 😁 About the musicians... this is a compilation video (unfortunately) and I've seen both sets of the Kami Band (which is bad). You are hearing (probably) the Japanese musicians (but I don't know because the OG video is apparently unavailable on that channel). So yeah, you have seen some Schecters and also ISAO Fujita's gigantic 8-string ESP E-II HRF (6:02 mark on your video) and also Leda Cygnus's headless Strandberg (6:11 mark). At 6:38 mark, we have Takayoshi Ohmura with his ESP Snapper 7 Ohmura Custom (aka pink chan) and also BOH (Atelier Z BOH Custom 6 bass). 7:50 this is Anthony Barone. I've seen so many videos of them (and so many times) that I'm able to recognize them, masked or not, even when they change guitars between songs, only by the color and the shape of their instruments. Also, if you have a closer look, you will recognize them by their tattoos, their physical appearance or the way they hold the instruments. 😅 🤘🦊

This is a very good compilation, which includes footage from several different performances back in 2019 and 2020. But the audio is all from _BABYMETAL Arises - Beyond the Moon - Legend M,_ which was in celebration of Moa's 20th birthday and held in her hometown of Nagoya on July 6 and July 7, 2019. It was the Eastern Kami Band performing those evenings, so what you are hearing is Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda on guitar, Boh on bass, and the inimitable Hideki Aoyama on drums. The Western Kami Band did play on some of the other shows though, so they are also featured in the video. Syncopation is held in quite high regard by many Babymetal fans, but although I like it just fine, it's not really one of my favorite songs. It's definitely interesting and well put together, but I generally prefer when they go really heavy or really cute. Still, it's a respectable mix of pop, metal, EDM, punk and prog, that they somehow make work really well together. It was written by *Norikazu Nakayama* (generally credited as either Norimetal or Nakametal), who also co-wrote _Doki Doki Morning, Megitsune, Road of Resistance, Yava, Amore, Night Night Burn!, Arkadia,_ and _Ratatata._ I love the first four or five of those, but am rather indifferent to the rest.

I kinda thought you guys would love this song. It is a banger. There's also a recently released version (WORLD TOUR 2023 - 2024 LEGEND - MM) and the lead guitar gets a bit more flex time. The whole band is playing at 11.

I prefer the studio ver. and the Tokyo Dome ver. Both performed with the Original Japanese Kamiband including the one-of-of-a-kind drum genius Hideki Aoyama. This version is not bad but the Japanese Kamiband is a lot better in my opinion.

Another great song with a Kami Band (East) intro is "Kagerou", which I believe is the finished version of a song named "Tattoo" that they have done in the past. It is another banger music-wise, but it's an incredible song from a vocal and lyric sense. Su does a masterful job as usual.

Regarding the comment about the gentlemen or gentlewoman who speaks no Japanese but can sing the songs, I have the same thing with Wagakki Band. After being a fan for about 6 years now, there are several songs that I can sing along with. They are Nijiro Choucho (Iridescent Butterfly), Sabaku No Komoriuta (Desert Lullaby) and Roku Chounen Monogatari, which I do not know the English name for. Others coming along are "Doppo" (a duet about people meant for each other but always walk away), Senbonzakura (One Thousand Cherry Blossoms) and "Ame Nochi Kanjouron" (not sure of that name either, lol). You might want to react to one or two of them, they are just magnificent and beautiful music.

👍 👍 Great reaction to a great song. I love Suzuka's vocals, the backing vocals, the on point choreography and the insane instrumentals by he West Kami's. It had everything that sets BABYMETAL apart from the rest. BABYMETAL has changed the way I enjoy music. After becoming a fan of these young ladies and their Kami's I find it difficult to enjoy a LIVE performance of a band simply playing music onstage and not accompanied by top notch choreography 😉

Wait is it the really the west kami band? I think i saw Boh's bass (at 6:39) and the solo was Ohmura's style of playing with the crazy vibrato bends, also the headless white guitar could be Leda.

@@KrPa9781 you could be right. It was a compilation so it may include performances by both however the LIVE performance audio that came from the one concert sounds to me like West Kami (especially the drums which sounded like Anthony Barone). But you could be correct.
