Speaking with my husband (who transitioned 15 months ago) recently I asked him "Who did you come here to help." The answer I received was "No one, I came to learn something for myself." I was quite set back by this. It is at once surprising and liberating to realize that perhaps my idea of being here to help a specific person or a cause is not necessarily an intended focus and could be that the choice to be here is specifically to self-evolve. What does SB say along these lines. Good to be back....been busy coordinating self-isolating for the next few months. Thanks.

If I could add a new theory, I noticed that ES talked about people from earth, us, corresponding to bodily senses. Maybe this means that we experience bodily senses but other people from other planets don’t? This would solve the problem of other people PHYSICALLY EXISTING on them, or at least on our plane of reality. He also says that they are less materialistic, meaning maybe also since they are not having bodily senses that they are more ‘spirit’ or they are spirits but on a physical plane similar to us? A jumble of ideas but what I am trying to say is that we can’t perceive these people living on these other planets because they are completely different to us, they have to be as they wouldn’t survive on these planets if they were us, and since they don’t correspond to the bodily senses then we as humans who correspond to exactly that couldn’t understand or see what Swedenborg was seeing. Also the extra solar planets Swedenborg was talking about COULD HAVE been Uranus and/or Neptune???? Because they are further away from most other planets in our solar system it seems pretty logical that Swedenborg could label that as extrasolar? I don’t know for sure, I haven’t read the book, but I just wanted to get some ideas off of my head. Also, he said that God hasn’t revealed to us of these other people on other planets, and therefore we just cannot know! I’ll put some more down if I think of anything.

Great theories, TheLachstar! Of course I don't know either, but it's fun to speculate and hear how others have interpreted these things! In "Earths in the Universe," Swedenborg spoke to spirits from these planets, not the physical beings, so I do think that they had physical bodies at one point, but don't know how they would have experienced them! I sometimes imagine that we can't see them because they exist in a different dimension or are composed of completely different materials, so our worlds don't intersect - for example, maybe they don't breathe oxygen or aren't made from carbon but exist from other substances altogether. Or maybe we just can't see them or life on their planets because of the limitations of our vision. Or maybe they haven't lived on those planets for a million years. Or maybe what he thought was our solar system was really a different galaxy altogether! So many theories! So much to consider. I do find it fascinating that scientists are discovering more and more inhabitable planets millions of light years away from ours. They're out there somewhere, and with an infinite God, they could exist in infinite ways! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's always a fun trip to guess about these things.

offTheLeftEye I have been reading some other theories - 1. That Swedenborg was misinformed, and attempted to identify the planets he was on based on his limited knowledge, plausible - 2. The book is intended to deal with theological questions, abandoned literal truth, unlikely in my opinion - 3. Swedenborg was describing the conditions of spirits in the world of spirits, not on physical planets, this seems plausible too - 4. It is all literally true despite scientific evidence, definitely possible as God has not yet revealed these spirits to us as ES says - 5. Knowledge about the planets in the spiritual world cannot “agree with” knowledge about the planets in the material world, I really like this one as it makes sense that in the spiritual world he could have been seeing SPIRITUAL planets, it’s a whole different plane of existence so why would the planets and people he saw be the same as what we do in our limited material world? - Being the loving and sincere man Swedenborg is, I personally believe he wasn’t lying and he truly had these experiences 🙂
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 4 жыл бұрын
@@thelachstar4294 I agree, and I like #5 as you say! I don't think Swedenborg intentionally lied or misled anyone. It's difficult to know in these cases how to interpret them, given what we understand from science and exploration. But we are so limited, and of course, so much of what happens in the spiritual world is nearly impossible to translate and describe in earthly terms! So I agree, that this is just a complicated translation issue - and that the message at the heart of this book is to teach us that we are not alone, that there are other human beings and the universe is truly infinite, and that we need to love all beings, since God's children span planets and probably dimensions! Wow, it's a lot to take in, but very cool stuff.

Most interesting subject! It will be a long time before we scientifically are able to identify life that is perhaps unlike anything we have imagined. Even on earth we were surprised to find life in the deep ocean where light never penetrates. But there it is! Life which doesn't need sunlight. Perhaps people from earth will live on other planets and make them their own if they're not now inhabited. Thanks for addressing this!

I just watched this again with some new thoughts. Since we are spiritual beings living a life in which we are somehow attached temporarily to a material body, our reality isn't physical. Therefore people could exist in their natural spiritual "form" on any planet. We don't know the spiritual nature of planets and just barely know about their physical nature, but maybe there is a purpose for a planet being in the state that it is. Maybe it would be better to assume that everything in creation has a purpose even if we have no idea what it is. It's interesting that since you posted this we are now aware of a near-by red dwarf star with 5 planets in the habitable zone.

I must admit that I was somewhat disturbed when I initially learned that Swedenborg wrote about other beings residing on other planets of our solar system due to the contradictions of science. However, I’ve recently been reading “The Ra Contact: Teaching the Law of One” that resembles much of what Swedenborg taught. The info from those series of books was supposedly channeled from higher density beings that took place in the early 1980’s. The main message being that we are all one in the universe and that we evolve through various density levels as we mature spiritually with love, wisdom, and unity. It was frequently discussed in those set of books that this solar system (including planets of the entire universe) has had and still has various densities of life. There are supposedly seven densities with each subsequent density made up of a denser vibration of light that is only visible to that particular density (sounds kind of like the levels of heaven that Swedenborg wrote about). This earth is supposedly in the transition of 3rd and 4th densities. It was discussed that earthly humans initially evolved from Mars and Maldek 75,000 years ago, which are no longer habitable. Venus has supposedly cycled through all of the densities up to the sixth. Saturn is currently a sphere of sixth density and Uranus is currently a 1st density planet. It’s interesting how similar the theology of these set of books correlates with Swedenborg’s writings. The main difference, however, is that the Ra material claims that we reincarnate multiple lives in this 3rd density plane until we choose either a positive polarity vibration or a negative polarity vibration before moving onto the 4th density: the positive polarity correlating to love & service to others, and the negative polarity serving mainly the self. Here are a few links to the Ra material: Volume 1: www.llresearch.org/library/the_ra_contact/the_ra_contact_volume_1.pdf Volume 2: www.llresearch.org/library/the_ra_contact/the_ra_contact_volume_2.pdf KZbin: kzbin.infovideos?view=0&sort=dd&flow=grid

I found something interesting in Divine Love and Wisdom §106: "[...]if our world's sun were not at the distance from the earth as we see it to be, it could not be present and effective with its warmth and light in all our lands" I am not sure if I'm interpreting it correctly, but this makes me believe that Swedenborg fully understands that earth's distance to the sun is critical to the fact that life is sustainable here, and consequently that the planets closer to the sun are too hot and the planets further away are too cold for human life. This should mean that Swedenborg did not intend to tell us that there is human life on the other planets of our solar system right now at this time. I personally like Karin's fourth theory. The concept of parallel and alternate universes goes very well with what Swedenborg experienced on other planets. :-)
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, Mewier, Swedenborg did seem to understand about the required distance of the sun from the earth, and he likens it to the fact that direct contact with God would incinerate us. And yet he talks about spirits from other planets and how they interact with inhabitants on those planets..... The question I always carry is, "Who says all 'human' life has to look the same as earthlings?" If being "human" means having a will and understanding -- the true image and likeness of God -- couldn't that spiritual capacity exist in other life forms, suited to different environments, etc? I have no idea, but that's where my mind goes. Of course we have very earth-centric thoughts here, but the universe and all of creation sure is vaaaaaaast. And Swedenborg talks about how endless variety is what makes perfection. Just a couple of thoughts..... I'm glad you like Karin's Theory #4! So nice to have a somewhat comfortable "file" to put some of these more out-there ideas in! Thanks for joining the conversation!

Interesting - but raises more questions! Why wasn't ES taken to Uranus and Neptune (would it have upset him so much to have discovered these planets exist)?

Swedenborg was permitted to observe and record what the Lord deemed useful to the human race. So, I'm not quite sure the reason as to why he visited certain planets over other ones. Certainly he kept busy until his last breath, so it may have been a matter of what was useful to observe, taking into account that life in the natural world is limited. That being said, I am glad that he was able to record as much as he did!

I have an affinity for Swedenborg and his writings. I had the opportunity to read through them for many years. What a delight. I have also had the privilege of talking with some spirits from other planets and my experience was a bit different. We did some experiments with the help of bright spirits with God's words written on their heart and discovered they had actually been born on earth but had some emotional injuries that they had avoided so did not have the recollection of their earth life until they felt through and released the injuries. Just sharing my experience. Cheers

Ok, as I had mentioned this was an experiment. In truth I had no idea what would come of it but it had been suggested to me that the spirits inhabiting other planets had been conceived on, or born on earth. With the desire to know the truth some time later an opportunity arose to meet a spirit and her mate who where helping earthbound spirits to move to the spirit world. They ( Margaret and Matthew) mentioned they are from a planet outside our solar system but still within the milky way galaxy. A planet that as of yet we have not named. I suggested that may not be in the full truth and asked if they would like to try an experiment with some bright spirits. They agreed to enter into the experiment for they know the brighter the spirit the more love and truth they have in their soul. It was really a blessing the bright one's I had the privilege to introduce them to are celestial angels who have learned the way, and partake of His very Nature in Love and Truth and had become at-one with God and their soul had been transformed into a new creature, or simply said they have God's words written in their heart. ( As a side note, Its hard for me to believe the blessings that has been bestowed upon me to be a witness and participate in these blessings). With that said and as Swedenborg mentions these spirits do look a bit different. Also as Swedenborg says and I paraphrase:" each plane or sphere in the spirit world is a place and a condition, it has all the accompaniments that make it a reality to the spirits who inhabit it". They are brought together there buy the Law of Attraction. Like attracts like. Margaret came to me a couple years later and said she had discovered she had been born on earth but do to some traumatic childhood experiences on earth she had disassociated herself as a being or soul from earth. Her looks have changed and she is progressing. Again I desire to say this was my experience. Hope that helps. Cheers for now

There’s definitely a “familiarity” with everything Swedenborg mentioned about other worlds. Why is there so many stars and a ethereal space between them? The Lord loves life and I believe He made so many other planets that orbit these stars. And that is only in this dimension. There is also the time principle involved also. Swedenborg spoke of communicating with spirits from different planets in our solar system and why not? It’s really possible life “ could have” existed there before or will not exist there until much later in time. The LORD not only can see TIME spans but also the levels of dimensions. So the possibilities are endless. It’s true we are only a grain of sand along a beach or a drop of water in the sea. Curtis mother is very knowledgeable of Swedenborg’s writings. It’s always a great pleasure to listen to her talk about Swedenborg . Thanks. 😃🌸👍🏻🍀

The physiological and neurological aspects we share with humans from other planets are very interesting. It's as though each planet represents a piece of the anatomic puzzle of a pattern of the universe we find in all creation, including our bodies, which is always the same everywhere. It makes me wonder if planets are intercellular processes of a giant body we call the universe. I understand now when somebody said that they could see the whole world in a leaf because the pattern is always the same.

Thank you for broaching this sensitive topic. Swedenborg was allowed to enter into dialogue with these extraterrestrial beings often by means of a device which he called an angelic column. The writers of the book of Mormon also were spoken to by angels by means of angelic columns. We see space beams used as tractor beams frequently on various sci fi movies as well. The angelic column however does not seem to be a tractor beam, but a device for allowing people from completely different planets to communicate by altering the state of each to the point of contact. I have been fortunate enough to have actually experienced space beams or angelic columns on two separate occasions. I did not see or hear any other human or spirit, but by means of a very powerful force was able to shed some erroneous beliefs and at the same time to have certain skills enhanced. The beams that I experienced were witnessed by many others, and in fact on the first occasion, the beam, a powerful force of golden light, descended through a roof and into a spontaneously formed circle of seven people. No one asked us to sit in the circle, nor had we ever done so before, it just happened. The beam lasted for only a minute or so and it felt orgasmic to a very high degree. We were all too stunned by this experience to talk about it, but it certainly took place. This occurred in a remote area, but whatever was beaming on us must have been visible to those outside, because even though we were miles from town and it was after dark, many people came to our house that night. When I went downstairs after this event, the whole living room was filled with other people, at least thirty of them. At that point I was enabled to project a very powerful force out of my palms. This appeared as deep blue cones of light about ten centimetres long. It was powerful enough to make a woman jump out of her chair as if she had been shocked with electric current when I encircled her wrist with my hands projecting the two cones. I have had many very unusual experiences since that time, and have such a passion for making humus that I can barely lift a hand to do anything else, and I do it nearly every day even though I am way too old to be shifting tonnes of stuff. I am very passionate about the works of Emmanuel Swedenborg, and have read the entire 'Arcana' while making extensive notations. It took me around ten years to read. It is miraculous to find this person, who two and one half centuries ago wrote concerning these very things. I absolutely love him, and have read the entire five volumes of the 'Spiritual Diary' and its newer translation, ''Spiritual experiences' sixteen times, now on the seventeenth reading, and it has taught me so much, I will probably still be reading as they shovel dirt onto me.

Off the left eye, Thank you for acknowledging my comment. Seeing that the celestial revelation presented to us by Emmanuel Swedenborg is undoubtedly the foundational knowledge which will be the basis of the new world wide church, I would like to present books from your publishers to various Saturday Sabbath keeping churches anywhere in the world. I have been keeping the Saturday Sabbath for over two decades and as we are told, it is a very great blessing to us. In my experience, the Sabbath has been of such value to me, that I have to agree with ministers who teach that the keeping of the sanctified day, appointed for the pursuit of spiritual matters and rest, is the most important of the ten commandments. We are giving our most valuable resource, holiday time, to the Lord of the Universe. Needless to say, He gives us a much better sort of holiday in return. The Bible is clearly a book of prophecy, and the time of these prophecies, in their culmination, is now. Now is the time for the individual churches, incidentally, Swedenborg tells us that the person is the church, to keep all of the commandments. Swedenborg was very clear about the necessity of keeping all of the commandments, but because he did not realise the falseness of the Sunday Sabbath, although, I have the suspicion that it was on the edge of his understanding, the time was not yet ripe for the Saturday Sabbath to be resurrected from the ashes of the Roman church. The Catholic church is a false church and Swedenborg makes no bones about that point. We must avoid the practices of the false church, which has created the Sunday Sabbath, 'because she could.' As well, we should be keeping all of the ten commandments because it is the keeping of the commandments which makes a human the church, or at least it is a necessary concomitant of becoming a church. This being the case, it follows inexorably, that the only churches, whether persons or institutions, that qualify as true churches, are those who keep the Saturday Sabbath. Therefore, I would like to conduct a deliberate campaign to bring Swedenborg to the Saturday Sabbath church where ever it may be found, There are fourteen hundred of them in the U.S. alone. The New Church, I am quite certain, will honour and adore keeping the Sabbath day when it is finally the only church left standing, but in the process, the new church will consist of informed Swedenborgians, and the massive amount of parishioners in the Saturday Sabbatarian Churches. This is a marriage made in heaven, because Swedenborgians tend to shy away from bible prophecy, while the Sabbatarian Churches are following world events very closely due to the fact that they know exactly who subverted the Sabbath day. This is the same church referred to in the Bible as the Harlot, a perfect description of a false church. When the celestial revelation reaches the ears of a person keeping all of the commandments, the magic begins. I am prepared to begin this process by purchasing these books from you, and having you send them on to the churches who I will locate by means of the internet. I do not yet have any internet banking set up, so I ask you to consider this proposition, and get back to me via my email address. This is: greenlife.ken@gmail.com. I am prepared to use my entire tithing budget to further this cause. I need to know which system of payment is best for you and safest for me. Thank you for your great programs. Peace and Blessings.

I'm so glad that your Saturday Sabbath practices have felt so meaningful and rewarding! That is wonderful. I myself am inclined to understand the command to keep the Sabbath as an inner practice, an inner state of mind. A state of mind in which we have the Lord in mind in everything we do, every day of the week, and also the union of goodness and truth. So, I think that can be achieved no matter what day of the week someone uses to outwardly dedicate to the pursuit of spiritual matters and rest. (See the quote below.) We are very happy to support your desire to purchase books for Saturday Sabbatarian Churches, and if you e-mail info@swedenborg.com, our staff member Brian can help you work out a payment method, and how to get the books to where you'd like them to go. Wishing you all the best, Ken. God bless! "Remember means to keep it constantly in mind. At the highest [heavenly] level of meaning, Sabbath day stands for the union of the Lord’s actual divinity with his deified human manifestation. The inner [spiritual] meaning of it is the connection between his deified human manifestation and the heavens, and so it also means heaven and the marriage between goodness and truth in heaven. To consecrate it stands for not weakening this union in any way. Six days you shall labor and do all your work stands for the battle that precedes and prepares us for the marriage between goodness and truth. And the seventh day is a Sabbath for Jehovah your God stands for goodness being implanted into us and the consequent marriage. You shall not do any work-you or your son or your daughter, your male servant or your female servant, or your beast, or the foreigner who is in your gates signifies that now there can be heaven and blessedness for us in every aspect of our lives, inwardly as well as outwardly. For in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea symbolizes the rebirth and rejuvenation of our inner and outward life. And everything that is in them symbolizes every aspect of our inner and outward life. And rested on the seventh day is symbolic of the fact that now we are at peace and are good because we love being good. Therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day is symbolic of the fact that at this point there is a heavenly marriage from the Lord. And consecrated it means this marriage can never be weakened. Remember obviously means keeping something constantly in mind, because when we say remember about something that should never be forgotten, we mean we should always keep it in mind. Something that is always kept in mind is universally sovereign there. We keep it in mind, even when we are thinking about other things and are engaged in other business. Our thought incorporates many ideas at the same time, because it is formed by a series of ideas entering our mind. These ideas come to our direct attention, and we focus on them so we can see them with the enlightenment of our inner sight. Everything else is pushed off to the side, becomes obscured, and is not noticed unless we come across something associated with it. These ideas get pushed further and further away, and they do not stay on the same level but drift downward. These are ideas we reject and oppose-evil and false ideas if we are good people and good and true ideas if we are bad people." -Secrets of Heaven 8884-8885

Swedenborg was adamant that parts of the Bible are actually literal. If the Lord says do not kill or steal, this is a literal instruction. Keeping the Sabbath is a literal instruction. It is amazing how many people do not keep the Sabbath saying, " I don't need to do it because I keep every day holy." Saturday is a sanctified day, and even if you are a minister totally absorbed in the Work, it is still of benefit to keep the Sabbath separate and honour it by resting and pursuing only spiritual matters on that day. I am totally engaged on a daily basis in doing what I consider to be spiritual work, but I keep the Sabbath regardless, and it is a boon to me. It is also a literal instruction to study the prophetic portion of the Bible which consists of about one third of its contents. Most of that prophecy is happening right this minute, such as the ruination of Damascus which is taking place before our eyes now. The weakness of so many Swedenborgian students is that they get so involved in the celestial revelation, that they neglect to read the Bible for which there is no substitute. Swedenborg stated that his visitation by Our Lord was the second coming of Christ, and I have no doubt that that is the case, but, it was the beginning of the second coming. The final stages of that literal event are coming now, and if one is not looking for it, he or she may not see it. If you want to be sure about the value of keeping the Sabbath, there is only one way - keep the Sabbath!!!

I agree with you about the importance of the Bible, but I see there, too Jesus pointing out in Matthew, chapter 12, that to do good works like gathering grain, healing, and helping people are appropriate things to do on the Sabbath. (Jesus also discusses this in Mark 2 and 3). So what I mean is, there are many ways to keep the Sabbath holy, and the most important thing is the inner intent to serve the Lord and the neighbor, no matter which day of the week or how one acts outwardly. I really do share your deep devotion to the Bible, even if we interpret some things a little differently. And I agree with you that the second coming of Christ is an ongoing process, not finished yet! There are many gates to the Holy City, and so I'm glad to know about many approaches for receiving the New Church and the second coming of Christ. Wishing you well, Ken. Your devotion is an inspiration!

Jackhammers, this has been an extremely touchy subject ever since Swedenborg wrote about ETs over 200 years ago. Some people have decided that Swedenborg has no validity since he wrote these "crazy" things. So, we need to roll it out kind of gently, test the waters, so to speak, and start by presenting it in a way that doesn't come across as "sensationalist" but (as with everything Swedenborg writes about) grounded in an orderly divine structure. That said, I myself love all the fascinating detail that he goes into about the character and lifestyle about the races of people from other planets, and I hope we can get into that more in our shows eventually, if viewers seem open to it. What would you consider to be more "exciting?" in this topic? (Remembering that he was writing back in the mid-1700s, and wouldn't have any info about what is happening right now.) And of course, you can always get a hold of Swedenborg's book on this topic and read for yourself, though the older-translation language can be sometimes a bit hard to wade through. (New translation coming soon from the Swedenborg Foundation!) - Karin

I am just realizing that you are the person Chelsea was telling me about, from the live chat, who has just lost his son. I am so terribly sorry! I know full well the pain of that, because I lost my 8-year-old daughter back in 1991. I can promise you that the pain will ease, that you will get through this, but it hurts so badly during the first intensity of grief. It's like losing a limb. It's excruciating, and then you have to totally re-learn how to "walk" again.-Karin

Does Swedenborg discuss what seems obvious (to me) that a Planet can be as much as a physical place in the Universes as a spiritual place in the heart? Or did you just say that?

offTheLeftEye ... good morning Karin, yeah, I know what you're talking about😃 ... an unpredictable hair living a life of its own depending on the weather condition is a real challenge indeed...if I slightly straighten the hair with a plier, doing some colored coils at the hair dresser, putting a high quality light hair spray when the hair is weat, brush through, softly dry the hair with the hairdryer on minimum and last but not least gently squeezing the hair tips with some very light and special serum you should be able to take control over your hair, the effort may sound exacting maybe but give it a try, who knows? - oh, the shampoos and hair conditioners I think making a sense are the natural ones like Lush, Lavera etc. If you give the cure a try pls let me know how the experiment went🙂

That word in Genesis 1:6,7 is translated a few different ways in different Bible translations: firmament, dome, vault, air, sky, space, expanse. Swedenborg translated it "expanse." He learned that the Biblical creation story is a divine parable, not to be taken literally, just as Jesus told parables. So, it is a divine story about how our minds are transformed (reborn) from dark and lifeless to spiritual and full of God's life. The "expanse" that God created in the story represents an inner, deeper, more expansive level of our minds that God opens up when we are in the process of being reborn. Once that level of our minds is opening up, God can put things into it, represented by the sun and moon being placed in the expanse in verse 14. Into that higher, more spiritual level of mind God can put heavenly love (the sun) and faith (the moon).

It's revealing that the Jewish leaders in Jesus' day interpreted their prophecies concerning their expected Messiah in a very literal way and thus failed to recognize Him when He arrived. Jesus never emphasized taking a literal interpretation, but the opposite. His parables were easy to remember and didn't have to be remembered word for word. If literal meaning was important, He would have seen to it that they were written down so that He could approve their authenticity. Since He left it to oral transference from heart to heart implied that each persons' understanding of the spiritual lessons was the important thing. Later Christian leaders reverted to the literal meaning and enforced this understanding on the faithful.

Does Swedenborg say anything about the Nephilim or Anunnaki?
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 6 жыл бұрын
Swedenborg references the Nephilim roughly 35 times. He describes them as a conniving and incredibly dark people who use their powerful sphere of influence to subject spirits. In the Word, they were people who "through a persuasion of their own loftiness and preeminence made light of all things holy and true". Swedenborg goes on to say that "that race, which lived before the flood, is such that they so kill and suffocate all spirits by their most direful phantasies (which are poured forth by them as a poisonous and suffocating sphere) that the spirits are entirely deprived of the power of thinking, and feel half dead." Are there other concepts of Swedenborg that are as difficult to validate as this extraterrestial claim ? Just curious, I love most everything else intellectually and spiritually.
@offTheLeftEye
@offTheLeftEye 7 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question, because there are so many things Swedenborg writes about that people can have a hard time believing, and ask if we can prove or validate that. People have asked us, how do you know God exists? Can you prove that? How do you know there's an afterlife? A heaven? A hell? How can you just say there is deeper meaning to the Bible stories? Or different levels of the mind? Or that all our thoughts come from spirits? How can Swedenborg know things about ancient churches in pre-history? And describe a "science" of correspondences? Or that heaven is organized like the human body? Etc. etc. So, I guess it all depends upon what things are compatible with things in our current, individual mindsets and what things aren't, right? Different things will come across as too "out there" to different people! I do appreciate that this is a particularly tough topic to swallow for many people, but, like all the other things Swedenborg writes about, I suggest that if it doesn't resonate, don't worry about it! Concentrate on the concepts that really reach your heart, and help you make sense of life. Swedenborg wrote that his books and descriptions are not supposed to be ends in themselves, but just tools to help a person open up their own mind to connect with God. So, no need to accept every concept in the books, but just to find what helps open the heart to God and to love. We want to just go ahead and present a variety of topics that he writes about, to reach as many kinds of mindsets out there as possible. And an amazing thing about Swedenborg's books is, there's something for everyone, from Bible to ETs! :)

Yes, I know, Mark. I know you don't want to be here on earth right now, without your son. Hang in there. Your son is with you in spirit. It's just going to take some time to adjust, and to be able to feel him in a different way. He would not want you to dwell on memories that haunt you and give you pain. He would want you think of him as he is now, alive and well, loving you more strongly than ever. You need to grieve, of course, and to give yourself time to heal. But try to find moments and ways to picture him in the present. Talk to him, write to him, imagine what he might be doing. Do something that he and you loved to do, and picture him with you in spirit, smiling. These are ways that you can connect your spirit to his. I know it is so very hard. Wishing you strength and healing.

@pauladams6617 The perspective of Swedenborg on life on Planet Mercury, Planet Venus, and Planet Mars lacks evidence, particularly given that modern science regards Mars as a barren planet. However, these views may hold merit and be comparable to Kabbalah and various Eastern and Western religions. As a dedicated meditator, I can attest to real experiences of transcending time and space. We exist in a spiritual world inhabited by multidimensional spirits, an experience accessible only through solitary meditation. Is there life after death? Undoubtedly. I can assert this based on my experiences and deep desire to explore life beyond our conditioned state.

Not exactly. Swedenborg just talked about one infinite Creator. But Swedenborg does talk about God being outside of time and space. He talks about God both being inside at the very life core of everything, every cell, but also beyond and outside of everything that is created. So, he does talk about levels and layers of reality, and that a lower level cannot see or comprehend the higher levels unless they evolve to that level. Heady stuff! Peace!

If you investigate Near-death experiences which can be found on-line in the thousands, you'll find that most people who have had this experience describe the next world much as Swedenborg did. Modern medicine has made in possible for more people to be revived from death and it is more accepted now that these are people's honest experiences. Check out NDERF on KZbin.

I think Swedenborg had influences from Heaven and from Hell and maybe got them confused thinking all his revelations were from God/the Lord because his description of other beings in other earths is ridiculous, especially because we were made in the image of God.

Thanks for the feedback, K. Feel free to take what works for you and leave the rest. For myself, hearing about the experience of beings on other planets helps me see my life in a larger context. Not everyone is part of the systems that surround me, and still their path is one that leads toward heaven as well. I wholeheartedly agree that we are all in the image of God, whose infinite qualities can take innumerable forms. Even the variety in nature reflects that.

How can people live on these other planets? See swedenborg lived In a time when people didnt really know about our solar system but we do nowadays and we know that life is not possible on any other planets on our solar system. Especially mercury which no one would want to live on in human form or spirit form. And jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune are gas giants. I like to listen to his audiobooks because no one else describes death, life, heaven, and spiritual realm the way he does. It's very interesting but some of the things he says just seem to be nonsense. Same with Jesus second coming I disagree on his view on it. I 95% believe in a physical second coming on Christ but whatever that's something that can be interpreted differently but his view on life on other planets in our solar system just really throws me off. I mean you can buy a telescope for $500 and clearly see mars, venus and there I'd nothing there except an environment that would instantly kill any life form.

Hi Vitaliy -- You are certainly not alone in finding Swedenborg's view of life on other planets a stumbling block! If you've watched this video, then you've heard some of the perspectives that could be taken. Everyone, of course, is free to reject the ideas. A couple of thoughts that come to my mind are: Why would we be the only planet in this VAST universe that has human (or alien) life? And, might there be other possible forms of life, completely different from the life forms supported by Earth's atmosphere and therefore unrecognizable to us as Life? We encourage everyone to sift these ideas through their own rationality and understanding. They work for some, and not for others. Glad you find Swedenborg's reports about death, life, heaven and the spiritual realm useful and interesting. All other ideas you can just put on the shelf. Thanks for commenting!

Hey, Thomas, Swedenborg knew full well that the concepts he wrote about, based on what he learned and scientifically cataloged during 27 years of daily spiritual experiences, would be hard for most people to swallow, and it's understandable that this "grand human" concept seems pretty crazy. Swedenborg learned that this is a secret of ancient wisdom, that all of humanity is organized in relation to each other in the ways that the functions of the body relate to each other, and thus that we are all connected in a very real way, and all affect each other. Actually, ancient kaballah teachings also report this, and they call it "Adam Kadmon." And modern science is learning more and more how connected everything actually is in ways we don't normally perceive. We always encourage people to think over for themselves what makes sense, but if you are interesting in learning a little more about this "grand human" concept that Swedenborg wrote about, check out our show "The Shape of Heaven." kzbin.info/www/bejne/iImZnpSVgr97gck

And there's also the idea of fractals in mathematics and in nature, that things are organized in similar ways on a macro-scale as they are on a micro-scale. Swedenborg was setting forth that that principle also exists in spiritual science.
