Angels carry the selfless spirit I arrive at in my life, when I’ve exhausted serving my carnal desires. As I get older & older- the pendulum doesn’t swing as wide as it once did. Now I might have a self indulgent hour and see how silly I feel. That is when I say “ not my will , but thine “. Once I go there, life is no longer small- but it becomes limitless. The earnest desire to do the will of God , is the most sensible and wisest choice. Curtis, Swedenborg rocks !

I don't remember where I learned this, (if from Swedenborg, I would love to know) but I gleaned that the two times in life when angels are felt to be present is during childbirth and death. I know that with my first child, I felt overwhelming unconditional love during and at least six months after giving birth to my first child. I wanted to change my studies and become a pediatrician because I felt so much love for all children. It was such a profound experience that I often recall it when I think about what divine and angelic love are and I am now 72 years old.

Angels are always around us. Swedenborg said that God needs to constantly infuse some type of energy to all life, or we would instantly die. I'm pretty sure that the angels are the ones giving that energy.

I have had those same feelings at times of birth and death, Stephanie. (Chara here, one of the moderating team, age 65. :) ). Swedenborg does talk about angels at the time of death, and he talks about the angels of innocence that surround newborns. But he also says that we're surrounded by angels at all times. Somehow they do seem more palpable at those big life moments, but they're actually there all the time. Maybe it's something about the fact that we really can't control the ushering in and ushering out of life, so our necessary humility allows us to feel those angels -- just a guess! And of course, there are some people who feel the presence of angels regularly -- the "thin veil" types. Not sure why some have that awareness and others don't -- I always just chalk it up to the Lord leading us all in a unique way and on a very individual path. Thoughts?

I love how you bring these subjects alive Curtis and Off the Left Eye team! I need reminders all the time that I even HAVE a guardian angel or two. That said, I have felt their intervention from time to time. Wish it was much more often though! Fighting a looming divorce almost 40 years ago, I was crying so much while driving that I had to pull over as I could barely see to drive. So I did, but then I started sobbing uncontrollably. Now normally it takes a few minutes for me to calm down and pull out of that state but suddenly I found myself sitting upright. My sobbing stopped instantly as if someone had turned off a tap. I immediately felt relaxed, took a deep breath and heard the words "Everything is going to be alright" several times. My state of mind was changed instantaneously with no effort on my part whatsoever. I have always suspected that an angel had intervened in my life here. N.b.- the divorce still went through, but I have since remarried and my ex and I are on friendly terms to this day.

That said, I also understand that I was once involved in planning this life, then I realise that even those ideas weren't mine, even the really crucial deep stuff. Your foray into the relationship between truth and goodness was really important. Today, the weaponization of what I might call corrupted "kindness and caring" is leading all humanity to its own ruin. For this reason, I speak a lot about the importance of truth, to counterbalance the situation. By that I mean, the APPEARANCE of caring-kindness, not based on full knowledge of all facts (truth) ... in fact the rejection of such is touted as virtuous, while undeniable truth is often seen as unkind. Curtis & team, this is a great episode and so important today, as the handful that think they hold the reigns on humanity will shortly fizzel out like that toy. But the purpose - the test of our courage and love of GOOD - is first at hand. I had so many experiences living alone in the remote Himalayas of something behind my eyes when I was in the greatest of danger and could have been raped. It only happened 5 times and this video gave conformation that it was my guardian angel. I didn't pull a scary face but was motionless but could clearly feel something behind my eyes that instilled terrror in the culprits and they fled - ran away. In the days ahead, this is all we need to do; surrender completely - no thinking/fear - and allow angels to take us over when our backs are truly against the wall. Love from your 'unified.' %>

Does God give us angles in the form of human beings? I ask this because my daughter taught me more about the love of God than anyone. Looking back, from a very young age (starting around 3) I would catch her crying or she would start crying when we were sharing a moment. When I asked her why she was crying she would reply " I don't want to grow up, I don't want to leave you". When she was much older my mom and I were having a conversation, my mom said she would be the next one to die, I told her with all my disabilities that it would be me. My daughter spoke up and said we were both wrong, that she would be the first to go. She had so much knowledge of love and truth that I was in constant awe of what she taught me about the love of God. I know she was my blessing because before her all I knew about was fighting to protect, she was the only person in my life that taught me about unselfish love. I believe she knew from the beginning that she was sent for a short time and was sent to show love to what others may consider unlovable, to help give strength to those fighting for peace and when God decided she had done his work, he took her when her heart was breaking over the rise of hate in the world. If she was not an angel in human form, I believe she was open to the gifts of angels that guided her.

I have to donate books and supplies (and plants) to a place I found in Florida where the schools are very bad…I send them in boxes in the mail to the woman who set up the place in her yard for the donations. Because my kids went to that school when there was busing and now that we moved there is no more busing and that part of the city is in gentrification so I just have to send things there‼️. Also I help several of my friends with their gardens because my yard is in the shade. I’ve learned that it’s a good use of my time and my friends feel happy ñ supported that way too.

So many things that you covered in this video really resonated with me. The power an Angel has just from a “look” reminds me of Louis Pendleton’s book, “Invisible Police” where the angels that policed the spiritual world could control evil intentions with just a “look”. (My mother had that ability. And while trying to sit through boring sermons, we saw it way too often!!) The fact that we are constantly surrounded by spirits, both good and evil. The understanding that only one or the other can be near (in our inner bubble) at any given time. And we have to be aware of which spirit we draw near us and be able to recognize and control whether we are in the presence of good or evil. I am constantly having to kick their butts outta my bubble cuz I let them creep in and implant scary and terrifying thoughts in my head. Yeah… I can be my own worst enemy! @@offTheLeftEye I actually have two copies, one printed in 1932 and a newer print (paperback). I also have his earlier book (copyright 1894), “The wedding Garment”. Both real eye-openers. My late husband gave it to me about 20 years ago. I also have 3 books written by Naomi Gladish Smith that are my absolute favorites… along side of Aqueduct Papers. But then I love anything that Brian Kingslake wrote. I just wish I could find more books like these. So informative and interesting. These books are truly some of my treasures here on earth.

@@offTheLeftEyeyes, in a positive way. i have seen them with my minds eye, or third eye..and they are very fierce looking, with a stoic look on their face..not smiling but a focused look that is so serious you’d would think that perhaps they were angry if it weren’t for the peace that accompanies them. also they’re very tall and made of golden light. and huge. and you can’t tell if they are male or female..it could be either or both at once. at least that was my experience. i was also physically moved by them once too (on a different encounter). i didn’t see them that time but felt one on either side of me, as if they were holding me by my elbows, and they transported me faster than my thoughts across a huge deep ditch in the ground. it was intense and changed me ..from then on i wasn’t the same. they are always with you. you are never alone. ever.

Well, 1808, I'm not sure what all the various concepts and definitions are in the world today. The purpose of our channel is to share what Emanuel Swedenborg learned in 30 years of being taught by spiritual beings, as he claims. He doesn't talk about "spirit guides," per se, and he says that angels (and all inhabitants of the afterlife or spirit world) were once alive in our physical world. There are definitely other opinions out there, but that's the angle we come from.

My Beloved is an angel in Heaven now. And he has enormous power. He did save me from a car wreck one time and since he also writes to me, that evening he let me know I needed to be more careful. It was the only time ever that I think he was a little frustrated with me. I think it takes a very strong connection to God for him to intervene like that. I could feel the steering wheel being grabbed and yanked to keep me from wrecking. He also has a lot of "magical" power that God gives him because we love each other so much and we do work together still for God's Kingdom. A funny coincidence: After he left for Heaven, I found an interesting photo among the photos I'd taken of him at a presentation where we first met. There was a bright light right above his head that looks like a halo.....and he was so kind, I even referred to him as an angel. In my view, Swedenborg describes angels perfectly. I do know a lot more angels because my Beloved introduces me to them, many of them are members of our soul family, some are our teachers.

@@offTheLeftEye Yes, I quoted that from Him in the most recent book I wrote, and I had to remove some material for another time. I had to self-publish my book because the publishers wanted me to delete things I did not want to delete. Plus, I included a lot of color photos which document our history and some of the miracles God did for us, and publishers always want to limit photos. So, I print it myself. Well, maybe in 500 years people will want to read it. It's about true twin flames, based on scripture and what God has taught us. It's funny in a way. Everyone wants to believe they have met or will meet their twin flame, but they don't want to hear of the truth that God has said about such divine love and what's required. True twin flames are very rare because there are so few couples who are "on fire" for God. I feel like too many people are being taken on the wrong path (due to all the twin flame "experts" out there) and they are really missing out by not obeying God first and foremost. And so I have recorded our story for the future. It just makes me sad how slow so much of the world is to turn toward God.

Im thinking... Let's say I want to emulate the same thing like what the angels are doing.. That whatever good thing I do actually come from the Lord and not from my will. However the challenge is: When I do something good - I think that when I solved a problem and it's my own effort anf somehow contribute that as my own effort.. Without realising that its my own hardwork.. Hence I deserve the credit. How shall I handle it? As not to take glory for myself and yet be authentic about it as it belongs to God - just as how angels does?

Thanks for this question, TropicalGarden -- it's one that has come up before, for sure! One of the paradoxical things that Swedenborg says is that the more we are united to the Lord, the more we feel like our own unique self. This comes to mind when I ponder your question. Seems to me we can take some delight in coming up with a solution to a problem, because we can frame it as feeling grateful for being gifted by God with certain interests and talents, and we can enjoy being a conduit for God's love and wisdom in this world. Another quote from Swedenborg says that because God can not benefit us directly (in this physical world), he inspires us with his love -- so WE get to be the ones that are doing God's work in this world; being his hands, so to speak. I think the Lord wants us to feel happiness and delight when we have something to contribute to the world. In fact, in heaven, the real source of happiness is being of use to others. So I think it's OK to feel good about doing something good. We can think of it as being in partnership with God, and both partners are necessary for the success of the thing! That's perhaps a way to keep our ego from becoming too inflated and getting in the way of further partnership with God. ??? Just a few thoughts. What do you think?

I remembered this : An idea came to me to solve a very difficult problem and once solved my boss was very happy about it. I was very tempted to claim that and figured that I must very intelligent.. After that.. I realised that it was not me. It was the angels who inspired me and they inturn give that glory to God. Hence.. Finally it was not mine to begin with. Thanks for this response, TropicalGarden. I think probably ALL of us are always working on finding the balance in this kind of thing. Who knows how angels or God will respond to a plea? Sometimes the "answers" come in a way we're not expecting or not wanting, or sometimes they don't seem to come at all. But Swedenborg says that prayer is "speech with God." Of course you can directly ask God for help. It's part of the partnership. God WANTS us to feel that we have our own life, while we also acknowledge that "without thee we can do nothing." Seems to me that just including God in the equation when we're thinking about anything is a kind of prayer, a kind of plea -- just acknowledging God's existence and love and power in our lives. Ya know?

I guess that's one way to look at it, John. We believe the Lord is with us at all times -- and angels are His messengers. Whether you say "in" us or "with" us is perhaps a personal choice -- either way, they are present for us, balancing out hellish influences and inspiring love, truth, and goodness. And yes -- that IS kind of how I imagine the Holy Spirit: God's effect in this world, everywhere and always!

Ahh Heather, You may not have a physical brain, that squiggly organ in your physical head, but you WILL have your mind and your heart -- the real part of you. Your desire to follow God is what will lead the way, and helping angels will support you through your initial adjustment process when you get to the other side. Physical brains really have nothing to do with consciouness except being the medium. (There are rare people who lost their brains and did not lose their consciousness! Where does "Satan" and that whole apparent reality of bad energy and negative beings get their power from. The story of the war in heaven for example. Is Satan still plugged into God consciousness on some level? Is there anything in Swedenborgian cosmology that speaks to this?

Hmmm, yanbibiya -- Here are some short and perhaps simplistic thoughts: According to Swedenborg, there isn't just one "Satan." Rather, he sees that hellish force as an aggregate of all humans who have taken God's life flowing into them and inverted it to serve themselves. We ALL have heaven and hell flowing into us, and we get to choose which influx to indulge and act on. So "Satan" only has power through the people who choose to act on that dark influence. Because yes -- ALL people (i.e., the folks that inhabit heaven and hell, after they leave their earthly bodies behind: Angels and Devils R Us) are children of God and get their life from Him. Satan has no power, zero, na-dah, except what is specifically allowed by the good angel councils. Satan wants to have nuclear war? He's got to clear it first. Satan wants to give you a serious disease, he needs permission. All devils and demons have turned their backs on God and therefore are powerless by definition. The reason God allow them to exist is critical. God uses them to counterbalance the goodness and truth in the world and that balance is what gives us freewill, perhaps the most important gift we have. It's a little vicarious but it works!

That's kind of how I see it too, shostetler. That is, angels can't stop a flood, or stop a war, or make pollution disappear -- things on the physical level. But as MaryKingsley said in her comment to you, I think they are working in people's mind and heart, providing courage and strength to stand up for the right thing, etc. That's very powerful, too, it's just not making for instant clean-sweeps of all our problems. As for your other question, our mission here is to share what Emanuel Swedenborg learned in this "visits" to the spiritual world. He never uses the term "spirit guide," but he talks about how we are always influenced by the spirits (good and bad) around us, and we even have a couple "assigned" to us specifically, to maintain a balance between good and evil. Perhaps that notion is the equivalent to what people mean by "spirit guides." Does that make sense? How do YOU conceive of spirit guides?

This form of social media is flooded with religious nonsense that impedes intellectual development, instills guilt and affects mental health generally.
