Fun tip..."speaker" wire (single pair, unshielded) works very well for DC power wiring needs. Of course, you need to use a large enough gauge wire. With LED lights, you can get away with 16AWG, but I always prefer 14AWG to be safe. You can get this cable with a black jacket. This would hide well in your enclosure and make things just easier. I suggest you call your AV contractor and ask for some. They always have miles of speaker cable laying around.

6:38 The Escalade might not actually need both front shocks. It's a good idea to replace both when one fails on a high-mileage vehicle though, as when one fails it usually means the other is not far behind (probably why both were recommended). That said, if you really need to save a few dollars you can replace just the one that is currently bad and replace the other later on. It'll cost more long term than replacing them both at once, labor time wise, but it's an option.

Hey matt little tip for lights on ranch: you can hook up negative treminal on baterry to your metal construciton than u need just hook up your lights negative terminal on the construction. Pozitive you need wire. Like the car. 😊 less wire.

MERE: I had knee problems and couldn’t run at all because it hurt like heck, but I discovered that i could run on an elliptical. If you want to keep running, maybe do most training on an elliptical to reduce wear. Plus glucosamine may have been helping, too, I did both. Good luck!

For anyone with a diesel concerend about a runaway that doesn't have a gate valve like Matt here did tankfully Keep a decent size CO2 extinguisher in the vehicle, usually with a knife. if the engine runs away, if you can pop the hood, stab a soft spot pre-turbo, insert the fire extinguisher and empty it. the engine can't run on CO2, it will choke an die. you might toast the tubo hitting it with thermal shock like that, but a turbo is way cheaper than a block or a fire. even drychem ones will work if there's no better option, but you're cleaning a hell of a mess out of the guts of the engine then

Best option in a runaway is neutral, jfyi. To save the motor if you anticipate a potential runaway again would be an oilfield safety shutoff. Being a Positive Air Shutoff. When tripped it will fully block the intake

I'm looking forward to the Holden Bros video on WHY it ran away now... Reasons a 12V can run away, off the top of my head; 1) Oil leaking into the intake via the turbo 2) Bad governor in the IP 3) Misadjusted metering rod; they can catch if they are set out too far And the one my truck has done a couple times, though not really "running away", just uncontrolled throttle, 4) Sticky metering plungers, or the metering rod, from running ULSD in an IP designed for slippery, sulfured diesel (tolerances too tight w/o the added lubricity). Adding a high-quality diesel lubricant with each tank of fuel seems to have fixed this for me, fortunately!

Sounds like you had engine oil build up in your inner cooler, get enough boost going that the cummins is running on engine oil so shutting the fuel down won't kill it! Make sure the turbos aren't leaking oil into the intake side of the turbo.

I'd bet it's a stuck barrel and plunger in the injection pump. If it was oil from the turbos, it would be smoking horribly.

@@JMC9837 I should have said if it was oil it would be gray smoke. I bet if he takes the AFC housing off the pump and looks down he will find the rack stuck. He said he tried restarting it and it tried to runaway again. If it was oil, most times they will start low then run up and away again. When the rack hangs it goes to the moon instantly especially with no load on the engine.

Hey Matt I actually had an almost identical surgery a few years ago, had a patch of cartilage that had gotten worn out from my kneecap though for different reasons. The tissue the tried using unfortunately didn’t hold and they had to actually get a donor piece of cartilage to put in. Wishing you two the best and I hope Meridith recovers quickly ♥️

Its actually not the steering or anything. A runaway diesel is when its stuck at full throttle. It was impressive the ditch was deep enough to make the cuda look like it didnt even have a tire on the right front though. Swallowing 40" tires is impressive

Everything stayed together but the hole in the draglink got egg shaped. Never would have guessed a cast iron knuckle could bend 35 to 45 degrees without breaking lol

@9:05 Runaway Diesels are no fun. It's usually a turbo seal that goes and dumps engine oil in. I used to work for Deutz here in Atlanta as a Warranty Engineer and one day we had a brand new V12 twin turbo monster on the dyno. Bosch injection pump governor failed, and it ran away. Everybody else did too except Hans the shop foreman. He stood there and disconnected the fuel line. Brand new engine. We took it apart later and found it was *just* about to scatter itself (and anyone nearby)! Totally scrap! 😮

I have the '22 Explorer ST with that same engine and drivetrain... Put on a new bigger intercooler, stock one is TINY!, put on the high flow catted downpipes, aFe CAI, and then tune it... Can push nearly 515hp/485ft lbs at the wheels.... That little TT 3.0 is a powerful little engine that could!!!!

Ive never had a big diesel runaway but I was doing a fuel pump field mod on a bobcat 3cyl tractor (kioti) and I put one part of the pump in wrong and pinned it all the way open so when I started it, it took a lot of cranking then once it got started it quickly kept revving higher and higher, turn the key off and it just kept going, luckily the airbox has a 2 inch intake hose that goes right to the front of the machine that I just covered with my hand, and it was like nothing ever happened, except for the panic when you turn the ignition off and nothing happens. Also ADV fiberglass makes very nice looking fenders for the bronco raptor

You probably know this, just wasn’t thinking about it at the moment but if a vehicle starts to go full throttle and doesn’t stop when off the gas put the vehicle in Neutral. That will stop it from continuing out of control most of the time.

When I was in college, my gas pedal stuck on me at about 60% throttle, and I could not get it to stop. I banked it into a mostly empty parking lot and hit the key to turn it off before I got into park. I had one passenger, and it scared the hell out of him. It's a scary situation. I was lucky to not hit someone. That was back before the days of common cell phones, so I had to flag down one of my friends who was passing by, another lucky thing.

Yeah, you just never know when the diesel is going to run away. I’ve seen old and newer run off. Good thing you were able to shut it down. The few I’ve seen the guys just jump and and run off while the engine explodes. It’s actually pretty cool if it’s not your truck. I think it’s a fairly rare occurrence yes?

My buddy has a 2021 Badlands Bronco with 35k miles. He was off-roading with us last weekend and ended up having to be towed to a local dealer because his alternator went out and it is located in such a tight place that it’s impossible to fix trail side.
