Real quick, I'm from Inglewood/South Central -- grew up in the late 80's early 90's. I was 17 and went to Chicago 1993 to visit my relatives. I was on the south side, Stony Island and 75th(ish) somewhere. I was at my relative's house and had my hat cocked to the side a bit. Bottom line, I was grossly unaware and it was my fault. Anyway, I get to the store, buy my lil shit or whatever and as soon as I walk out, a lil nigga--no older than 14-15-- rolled up on me on a bike and said, "Yo hat broke, G." I said, "WHAT!?" he said, "I SAID, YO HAT BROKE." Then I said, "BLOOD, I'M FROM WESTSID....." and before I could even finish bangin' the set on him, lil bro pulled out a revolver and said, "I AIN'T GIVIN' A FUCK ABOUT NUNNA THAT. NIGGA, I SAID YOU HAT BROKE!" OK. Somehow, in that moment, I suddenly spoke his language and instinctively turned my hat straight. Told him, "You got that, lil homie." He said, "That's what I thought," and rode off. To this day, my Chicago relatives still talk about that, "You remember when you came up here and them lil niggas was finna smoke you?"
