Apparently the theory is while ditto was the fans perspective of a parasocial relationship, omg is from the idols perspective where everyone around them is putting their assumptions of who they are onto them. The core of this MV is contained in the narration Hani said in the intro. All of them have lost themselves and think of themselves as different beings. Those are the images of an ideal idol that people want to see.

So to add to other people's analysis where they are telling fans that they can be delusional, here's what I think: Hanni - Iphone - Idols are just tools of entertainment for fans, some people think that they're entitled to demand and order around idols. Haerin - Cat - Sometimes we can dehumanize them and treat them like pets like we're their owners. Hyein - Princess - I've seen people treat them like extreme attention seekers and they do everything for us Minji - Doctor - Fans have this parasocial relationship with idols where we expect them to cure us or save us and while that can happen, we shouldn't expect them to do this. Danielle - Delusional(?) - This one I'm not sure about but based on the clip where she's laughing at the broken TV, sometimes we always expect them to be happy? But she could also represent reality in which she's the only one who acknowledges that they're New Jeans. This is just my take tho.

You may have noticed that all of the characters that they play are representative of prejudices and expectations that idols face. Idols are expected to provide what you need on demand, like Siri (Hanni) Idols are expected to be perfect at all times like the main character (Hyein) Idols are expected to provide you comfort, like a cat (Haerin) Idols are expected to fix your problems, like a therapist(Minji) Then Danielle represents the fact that idols are really just performers, they shouldn't have these expectations at all.

I love how the video leaves it up to the viewer to interpret each character's story, and here are mine - Hanni - Fans who treat idols like they own them. Fan have idols available on-demand, and can be selfish and demanding, treating idols like their property, or trained circus animals. Minji - As the oldest, the other members may come to her for advice or comfort. She needs those things too, but who does she have to fill those roles for her? That's the 2nd Minji. Hyein - Wanting to be someone's princess in a relationship, but the fans, represented by the bear, often resent idols who have relationships, and become toxic, making it impossible or at the very least, stressful. Haerin - Fans forgetting that she's a person, and objectifying her, diminishing her to just her looks. Her thoughts, desires, hurts, and all of the other things that make her Haerin get lost because fans just see her as "the cat". She's my bias so her character in the video just makes me sad and I hope she doesn't feel that way. Dani - Her character is the only one living in reality, but because the others are all engrossed in their delusions, they see her as being the one who is actually delusional. I've watched a lot of reactions to the MV, and I can tell that you get it. When I watch people laughing through Ditto, I just think to myself, "Yeah, you don't get it at all."

As per what some producers says that i see reacting and loving and getting inspired by Newjeans they said that this girl group will change kpop history. And yes it is. No need a strong hard beat, bling, oozing confidence , perfect ratio visuals, hard and crazy editing and background cgi , just FRESH AND EASY BUT CATCHY AND NEW TO EVERYONE especially to new generation, or gen z's. Newjeans will change kpop history I'm telling y'all. This is rhe start and i am so excited to see that. Tienes toda la razon, te comento cuando conoci a New Jeans a principio de agosto ya suponia que este grupo podria cambiar la trayectoria del kpop porque lo veia algo totalmente diferente a los demas grupos. New Jeans un grupo que debutó demostrando que sin teaser y con mv simple pudo arrasar completamente en tan poco tiempo en esta 4ta generación.. y fue sin usar la tipica formula utilizada en el kpop que es ser un grupo perfecto con mv costosos y super producido, este grupo en cuestión de concepto tuvo un gran acierto. Es todo prácticamente perfecto y conste que todavia no comento el desenvolvimiento de las integrantes 😊

Great reaction and analysis. Thank you for sharing your experiences and feelings. You are the perfect person to interpret Ditto and OMG. IMO, OMG is foreseeing NewJeans members in the future having mental breakdowns and being institutionalized from their traumatic experiences as Kpop Idols. Yes, this is a tragic storyline, American Horror Story: NewJeans Edition. The contrast between the happy vibe of the song and the darkness of the MV is trully astounding. OMG is a huge meta statement about the parasocial potentially toxic relationship between Kpop Idols and their fans, but from the Kpop Idol perspective. Ditto is about the same parasocial potentially toxic/potentially beneficial relationship, but from the fan perspective. You can see that the 2 mv's are related from the Ditto video dance clips shown on the OMG video. In OMG NewJeans members are being treated after having mental breakdowns from their traumatic experiences as Kpop Idols. Note the song starts "This song is about you Baby. Only you, you you, you, you, you.", and it cuts to face shots of each member of NewJeans as "you" is said. The mv and song is about a POSSIBLY tragic future of NewJeans members (which can be avoided IMO). Hanni (as Siri/Steve Jobs with round glasses, black t-shirt and jeans and sneakers) seems to have accepted her fate, saying that she has lost her sense of self, that she only exists for her fans and to fulfil the needs of those fans (like Kpop idols are want to do, not just iPhones). Harein thinks she is a cat, becoming what her fandom thinks about her in real life (that she is the living embodiment of a cat). Harein is seen nibling on cat food. Heyein is the member with the most entertainment industry experience, having been a busy child actress and here she is lost in the fairytale of one of her early roles (being lost in how her fans think of her). Minji is the Unnie (the actual oldest member who has a clear role to play in any Kpop Idol group), trying to take care of her members and bringing them to be treated (fulfilling the Unnie role that her fans expect from her). Note that at one point in the video, she stands over HERSELF, and brings herself into the ambulance, and obviously needs treatment too as she has also lost her sense of self and is lost in her fan created role of caretaker for her members. Only Danielle can remember that they were members of NewJeans, but she is institutionalized too, suffering mental issues, but not to the point of losing her memories. Danielle is really Danielle from NewJeans, but she is imagining that she is still shooting music videos. She is imagining the crew is there. Mentally she is trapped in her NewJeans past. BTW, IMO the Bear represents the fandom. Potentially very protective like a moma bear, but also potentially vicious and ferocious and deadly (as toxic Kpop netizens are want to be).

Just my opinion, but Attention and Ditto was a little too repetitive for my taste. OMG really hit the sweet spot for me, feels like the producers really found their groove. Such a cool song that's both nostalgic but new. The dance looks like so much fun too!
