Lauren, "what the mind of man can conceive, he can achieve". That is the main benefit of your lessons: they make me believe I can actually learn guitar! Thanks for your positivity and for your clear communication!

One of my all-time favourite Beatles song as it is great to sing-along to. I'm going to add this to my list of songs to cover on my channel (I prefer the key of C for this song though). Another great tutorial Lauren, I'm a subscriber and avid follower.👏👏👏

This is a tricky one, but now is a good time to dig out some old Beatles classic songs, with all the hype about the Disney documentary, I am a big fan of the Beatles and I teach the simpler songs to beginners, like Hey Jude, Let it be. Yellow submarine, and Ob la dee. Ger mooney-guitarman

Hey Jude is a great beginner song for learning your first 7 chords.

The first chord is an augmented chord, not E7th. Your voice is fantastic . I appreciate you’re trying to keep the chords simple

Thanks for that!

For those new to augmented chords: It's just a major chord with the 5th raised a half step. In this song the very first chord is an E Augmented, frequently written out with a plus sign as: E+ E major chord is: E G# B E augmented is: E G# C On guitar I frequently play this as: 07655X My 2 cents of music theory for those who care: This song is in the key of A Major so A is the I (1) chord. E is the V (5) chord. The V to I chord change is one of the strongest feelings of resolution in music - it makes you feel like you want to go back to the I chord (home). Frequently the V chord is played as a dominant 7th chord which gives it an even stronger feeling. The first chord in Oh Darling would work with an E7 (dominant 7th) but The Beatles played the E+ which I feel has an very unstable sound and still gives you the desire to go back to the I chord. For me that unstable augmented sound adds to the meaning of the song which is about a guy in pain over his girl leaving him. His world has been shattered and the augmented chord shows that he's unstable. (But maybe I'm just reading way too much into it though? LOL)

The INTRO is E aug.
@LaurenBateman2 жыл бұрын
It is, but this works just as well.
@YYShen6 ай бұрын
How stubborn can you be. Nothing Wrong with the Intro E7 but it sounds dull n flat n dry. Nothing to compare with the Intro Eaug, Eaugmented. Come on don't mess with Beatles or the like. Do Julie Andrews for heaven sake

Also when songs feature Augmented or Diminish Chords it sounds amazing n No No No other simplified Chords can replace. No way unless the player cannot handle. In this case play other songs

@LaurenBateman3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but most of my beginner students don't know what an E augmented chord is. So E7 it is for this lesson video.
@YYShen6 ай бұрын
The Eaug is as easy as the E7. To help anyone not familiar with Eaug, just simply show the diagram of the chord. The Eaug is the soul of this song n no way anyone Should replace it with the E7. Why don't you make it easier for Students n teach some Julie Andrews or Peter Paul n Mary folk songs
