Assassin isekai is really interesting to me. He's supposed to kill the hero. The scene where his father was measuring his growth I thought it was going to turn into a grape session. The fact that he's in a family of doctors and he has a secret identity as a merchant. I thought it deserved a higher grade

Okay, suggestion time: Currently airing, you've got Chillin in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers, which has enough twists and turns to rise above its cookie cutter title, plus the FMC is voiced by Rie Kugimiya (Taiga from Toradora). In the "Not technically an Isekai, but it might as well be" category (reincarnated into the same world, but with vastly different circumstances) you've got Ya Boy Kongming! and I Was Reincarnated as the Seventh Prince, so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability. Kongming's entire premise is bonkers, and 7th Prince has one of the most unhinged MCs I've ever seen. Think if Cid Kagenou replaced "edgy and dumb" with "curious and batshit crazy".

I recommend you watch "welcome to demon school Iruma kun" it's mostly not regarded as an Isekai despite it definitely being that because it's more like a school anime. The main appeal of it imo is the characters and how cliche and generic they are but in some episodes they break all that cliche vibe and it hits so goddamn hard. If you want to give it a try watch at least 6 episodes of it.

Yeah I agree with your take on eminence in shadow. CID’s role is not as interesting to me compared to everything else in it. And yeah, solo leveling is fairly average compared to other things out there. The animation helps it a bit. Didn’t realize you didn’t cover reincarnated as a sword in your isekai tierlist. Would be worth your while if you checked it out.

Reincarnated as a Sword was quite good on its own merits but it left a lot more to be desired. Wouldn't compare it to the giants like Overlord or Konosuba.

My biggest issue with moonlight fantasy is mainly just the animation. Outside of a couple fights with the MC there are a significant number of others including the demi-plane and his students that are just so bad it feels like smartphone territory. It's kind of why I feel so weird about the currently airing 7 prince. Like a lot of generic isekai it has uninteresting, plot and world building while also trying to shove ecchi harems in your face but the animation leagues above what it deserves.

The anime rankings where I feel my opinion differs the most: Drifters I would put in B tier because I do remember it being a good anime, and I liked the art style, but the plot/characters weren't anything special imo. Realist Hero I would put in F tier because it's the second most boring isekai anime that I've ever watched (behind smart phone), and I've seen quite a few. In the first 3 episodes, the MC does paper work, goes shopping and holds a talent contest where the only entertaining part for me was the 1 song. There are Slice of Life anime where I've actually really liked them because they managed to be entertaining despite nothing really going on (My Roommate is a Cat, Flying Witch, etc.), but this anime failed to do that for me. I dropped it after 3 episodes. Kamikatsu I would put in B mostly because I found it very funny, but I understand why other people would rank it lower. Isekai anime recommendations: "Cautious Hero", "The Twelve Kingdoms", "Now and Then, Here and There", "Sonny Boy" and "Ascendance of a Bookworm".

Cid Kagenou is not a character, he is the universal law of cinema, he exists to make everything strive and shine just like Saitama is with the other characters, Cid or Saitama having development is not the point even if they have(their phylosophy arcs when saitama asked what means to be a hero and Cid what means to be the eminence in shadow). It is undeniably S tier for me.

Bruh, you put Arifureta down low and put/left Konosuba in “S-Tier”?! Konosuba is at best C-Tier but more likely D-Tier. Everyone in it is barely above garbage humans, its jokes get taken past the point of being funny, and the writer keeps leading in a direction and then pulling an “M. Night Shyamalan” and making them completely unsuccessful or the journey completely pointless and they end up at square one, it’s like Gin Tama where the anime kept resetting & it became a running joke except in Konosuba they can’t completely figure out how they want to progress. 15:41 Nah the romance felt weird but at least they made an effort to make his harem make sense in universe. Also at least you put Overload in S-Tier.

Now these arent isekai but hear me out: Since you say you like food anime but wanted some overarching plot, i recommend “Delicious in dungeon” where you got characters having to cook and eat monsters and an overarching plot to the story, so it’s not cooking for cookings sake. And then since you said you like when they take historical figures and do whatever they want with them, I recommend the Fate franchise. 👍 Other than that like the vids, can’t wait for the overlord movie to come out and see your take on it.

It's an anime where the MCs are a literal red blood cell that delivers nutrients and oxygen to other cells and the white blood cell is the most wholesome violent sociopath you'll ever seen. The 2nd to last one deserves to be in C. It not even that good of a story but it one of those shows were you can turn off your brain and listen to it on the background. My issue with it was, it looks like it was animated to be an H-anime. The last one deserves to be in B, it literally pushed by the supporting cast. The MC just comes and goes to fight. That literally all he does, and my man rolls 20 like it nothing.

The fact that overlord is top tier is wild. Took years to get seasons out and all the battle scenes are copy paste models. The goblin village raid episode and Quagoa shows this. Very lazy and still takes forever. That said I enjoy it a lot. A tier for sure.

Cheat Skill would have been much better if the MC stayed fat and ugly, then slowly changed over the show. It would have been a lot of work to animate a slightly changing character but It might have made up for otherwise having nothing to stand out with. Smartphone wraps around the chart into SSS rank.
