This game foreshadowed the way the rest of the season would go for both teams. Maryland ended up winning this game in a blowout, showing both that they were not the "same old Maryland" and that Duke wasn't as invincible as they seemed coming into this game. Maryland won the national title while Duke lost in the round of 16.

I think It was Linda Cohn who asked Steve Blake in an ESPN interview, "Are you as a team afraid of Duke?" prior to this game. Steve Blakes reply..."Duke better be afraid of us!" Point made. Go Terps! That was a helluva team.

Ashame that these 2 teams don’t play again. Was actually a better rivalry the Duke Carolina. Terps had Dukes number often. Those years Maryland and Duke were the highest rating games on national tv.
