One of Seether's best, with a great message, is "Rise Above this." It's a song that you can tell was extremely personal to the lead singer, and serves to remind us of the effect we have on everyone around us, especially our family.
@Emper0rH0rde2 ай бұрын
There is palpable tragedy to 'Rise Above This.' Shaun's younger brother Eugene was horribly depressed, I think he also had drug and alcohol problems, and Shaun wrote that song for him as a way to say "You're gonna come out of this. You're gonna be okay." A few weeks after the song was written, Eugene succumbed to his depression and took his own life.

The lead singer from Seether dated Amy Lee (Evanescence). Amy wrote the song “Call Me When You’re Sober “ about his struggles with drinking/addiction. He wrote a song called “Fine Again “ about those same struggles. It’s a great song to check out. Other great songs are Rise Above It (a song about his brother’s passing), Burrito, Tongue and Broken (featuring Amy Lee)

I highly recommend the song they did with Amy Lee called Broken. I have a voice acting background and use it as a vocal warm up. The vocal training itself for me was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but artists like them or Chino Moreno, Chester Bennington are a great impulse to not give up. You almost saw me as Leon in those new RE games :)

The lead singer is Shaun Morgan and he used to date Amy Lee from Evanescence. It has been said that the song "Call Me When You're Sober" was written about Shaun after the two of them broke up, and he in turn wrote the song "Fake It" about her. The break up wasn't exactly congenial. When they were still together they did a duet called "Broken", which I would suggest. Saw them a few times before they relocated to the US and changed their name (They were previously known as Saron Gas). "Fine again" is a great track from their back catalogue. Might I suggest another South African band for you to check out? Just Jinger is a great band that has been around for many years. If you're going to check out their music, I suggest "Leaving Shallow Waters", "What he means" and their cover of Rodriques' song Sugar Man. Seether...one of the biggest alternative bands to come out of the 90s/early 2000s. They are still together and touring. I worked in radio about 20 years and we had the only alternative station in the area. When alternative bands were coming into town, they would reach out to us, and so I was lucky enough to see many of them perform. I would take my son and when Seether was here, they let him hang out with them before they took the stage and made sure Aaron was right up front. Seether is one of my favorite current bands, although they were bigger in the early 2000's than they are now. I am sure other commentors will recommend "Broken" with Amy Lee from Evanescence, and it's good...but in my opinion, it's kind of softer and less representative of their typical sound. Songs that are more representative of their sound include "Fake It," "Remedy," "Country Song," "Words as Weapons," "Same Damn Life," and my personal favorite song, "Fine Again." Songs by them that were not as big of hits, but still rock, are "Nobody Praying for Me," "Betray and Degrade," "Let You Down," and their cover of "Black Honey" by Thrice.
Adding to the list of recommendations to check out Broken with Seether and Amy Lee. A truly beautiful song between the two of them

I’m a HUGE George Michael fan so I will always love his version best but I really like this version too. I could never imagine this as a heavy metal song but after hearing it I realize how really good it is as a heavy metal song!
