I find it difficult to not get upset whenever I hear a song from The Cranberries, simply because of the huge loss that Dolores’ death was. Of course I never knew her, but as a metal head through and through, their music and especially her voice, spoke to me. That’s pretty rare considering the type of music I normally really get into. I love their albums, and it’s specifically down to their unique sound both arrangement wise and of course, Dolores’ voice. So,now, every time I hear them, while instantly being transported back to when I was listening to their music on repeat in the 90s, I also feel this deep sense of loss, knowing Dolores is gone. It’s an almost overwhelming feeling of sadness and loss, even though I didn’t know her at all.

I’ll tell you I met Dolores and I’d say the best way to describe how she really was . The teaching bit she did for the Irish voice. Full of life , sweet smile and loved to joke. Yes if she met you during a one on one meeting she’d give you a hug. So sadly missed, Dolores.

@@HollyCranfan it’s wonderful to hear that she’s every bit as nice as she seems. I’ve always had tremendous respect and admiration for her singing abilities, so I love that she was also a wonderful person on top of it. I just wish she could have beaten her demons, much like Layne Staley.

The Cranberries definitely earned and owned their moment. Dolores could do no wrong vocally. A great deal of her songs go from uplifting to tear invoking. Linger, Dreams, Just my Imagination, Daffodil lament, and Waltzing back... I mean they crushed and held their own in a male dominated genre.

I'm going to second the "Ode to my Family" suggestion. I still can't keep a dry eye during the whole song. I also love "Fe-Fi-Fo", though it is very much an angry song. Being about child molestation and abuse, how can it NOT be? There is also a live version of "Promises" that is simply manic.

Her voice is beyond angelic. Not only can she hut any note, at any time, any way that she wants in that gorgeous tone of hers, but she sings in a way that is so human. So tangible. So vulnerable. And not afraid to be any of those things. Listen to enough of her and you know her. Can't help but fall in love with her. Her passing was the most painful of any celebrity death in my experience. And by a HUGE margin.

Dear Amber I really love and appreciated your reaction. Its so authentic and like your tee shirt says you "embrace empathy",I can see that when you're touched and moved by such a special embodiment of "humanity" as Dolores O Riordan surely was.You find yourself "overcome" by the "truth" of it all, as Dolores sings "everything's complex" It's that surprising use of that word "complex" which got me fighting back those involuntary tears, the key which unlocked that clarity of emotional turmoil embedded into the human condition, life, love, longing, heartache, identity and empathy. When I'm in that bitter sweet moment and the heart swells, the throat locks and gulps and the tears flow despite myself ,I find that difficult enough here on my own ,but seeing you wrestle with that in a very public forum,( when I'm sure you're thinking "I just wanna be private RIGHT NOW!!! to navigate these unexpected deep emotions that have surfaced because of a three minute pop song OMG HOW CAN THAT BE!!!!.I didn't sign up for"heartache"…...But Amber you're pure soul and honesty is a gift not to be underestimated.Take care of yourselves and keep up your sincere authentic curiosity. When I look back at your early "reaction videos" it's so lovely to see how this project has imbued you with confidence and beauty.Much appreciated ,lots of love from Marti ( a sixty year old Irish sentimental mush💕)

I was brought up by an Irish mother and Scottish Father. I heard old Irish music at home, but 4 of my favorite musical artists from Ireland were the Cranberries, U2, Sinead O'Connor, and the Pauges. Delores had one of the most beautiful ethereal voices. I listened to her on my walkman and she transported me to another place. She really loved Ireland and Irish music and traditional story telling. Not The Zombies. It's The Cranberries. "When You're Gone" peaked @ #22 (debuted in Nov. '96 - peaking in early ' 97). As of 2006, The Cranberries charted 8 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 with 5 in the Top 40-- only 1 in the Top 10 "Linger" @ #8. Strangely, the follow-up, "Dreams" which seemed to be in Heavy Rotation on LA Alternative rock radio for several decades only charted @#42.

The more I hear the Cranberries, the more I love them. I love your channel because I get to hear songs that I haven't heard before along with songs that I am familiar with and get to see you discover them for the first time. Part of my enjoyment also comes from looking up information for the recordings you react to. When I used to buy records, I always poured over the liner notes to see who was involved in making the record. Today I learned that the producer of this record was Bruce Fairbairn and that some of album was recorded at Armoury studios located in my home Province of BC, Canada. Bruce produced albums for a lot of bands that I enjoy, employing some of the local musicians on the recordings. Cheers and keep on smiling. 😎

The lyric "and I miss you, when you're gone" makes you want to cry, and just when you successfully hold back the tears, her voice pushes them out. I think this is my favorite Cranberries song now.

One of my favorite things about this one is the nod to doo-wop. So unexpected from them on the surface, but perfectly blended with the unmistakeable Cranberries sound.

I love this song so much. This was the song that my boyfriend in Highschool dance to in the rain after prom. I couldn't take him at the time because it was a different era and plus once I turn 18 we started to date he was a cop at the time. He was so handsome. When prom came around me and my good friend Julie went to prom together to have fun and to see my boyfriend cop at the time. After words we went to the beach at night and me and him dance on the pier in Florida and dance to this song by the Cranberries. We were together for 6 years until I lost him in the line of duty. Every time I hear this song. It brings a smile to my face because I know he is thinking of me up in heaven. Awesome reaction guys. I love your channel it is so much fun.

You like her voice you should check out a Canadian female vocalist called Sass Jordan . Sass has a very outstanding voice that is very unique and stands out against other female vocalists. Make you a believer , High road easy, and You don't have to remind me are all standout songs.

Love love love this song. Thanks for doing it. I miss Dolores O'Riordan every day. "I Can't Be With You", "Ridiculous Thoughts", and "Hollywood" should be next on your list. While we're on the subject of beautiful voices, there's an English group (also from the 90s) called The Sundays that I think you'd love. Harriet Wheeler's voice is stellar, and it will captivate you. "Here's Where the Story Ends", "Wild Horses", "Goodbye", and "Summertime" are among their best songs.
