If you look around online there are hundereds of articles on how glasses should fit and look, after chasing these articles for a good few years, mainly after i buy new glasses, ive come to the conclusion that said articles must be aimed at ideal people in an ideal world, ive never ever had glasses fit or look the way they sugggest,.. my head is quite wide at the temples, but i have a smaller sized face, if i want glasses where the arms are straight to my ears i would need wider frames which make the whole glasses look too big for my face, however, if i get frames that fit my face i always have to flare the arms out a little and curve them as per this video... it might be ok for younger guys to buy frames a little too big for their face and have a little funky look going on but when your 54 like me its no haha.... i guess ive learned to put up and shut up ... unless im missing something ??
@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
Nope, that's quite a good assessment :) big dudes with big round heads al.ost always need this kind of fit unless going for a more bold look edging on fashion trends 🙂.. and cmon.. at 54 you still have plenty of room left for some fun fashion funk! Some of my wildest/coolest clients are retired! 😁😁

Bruh I think it’s legit over for me. Been wearing glasses since I was 4 or 5 up until now and the sides of my head legit are deformed. My skull shape is deformed. My left side is worse than my right. I don’t think my dents will actually go away lol. Messed up man. Is it even possible for glasses to deform your skull? Is there a way for the dents to go away? From years of wearing glasses and not knowing that they were too tight.
@ThatGlassesGuy037 ай бұрын
Time heals lots of things… it’s always possible for there to be permanent deformation in extreme situations if they’re WAY TOO TIGHT for WAY too long in earlier years in particular, but I would say highly unlikely :). It can take awhile for the skin to level back out though. I’ve seen some pretty bad ones go away 😂

I'm going to try this thank you! The one optician broke my frame, at first didn't want to take responsibility. I used super glue to fix them. After 3 months they send me a new frame. I asked another optician to fit my lenses in there and swop out the temples as they fit perfectly for me. It took so much going back for them to get it to fit perfectly, but the new optician unfortunately don't really care and I get the feeling he doesn't want to help me anymore. So my once perfectly fitted glasses cuts into my head now. I tried bending them out a bit, but they only pulled away from my head at the back of my ears and still hurting me. So I will try this trick now. I'm so sad and frustrated!! My optician that helped me for years with the greatest care and helping me with my skew head, unfortunately quit the specific practice and now I've been left with 3 different ones that don't really want to help. I gave them the broken frame and asked them to adjust the temples exactly onto my new glasses (I have 2 exact pairs because I struggle so much and that perfect optician fitted them perfectly for me) but they couldn't even do that. Their attention to detail is sad 😔. The one girl just bend the one temple inwards so much, but I saw on your other video that it's just the bend behind my ears that needs adjusting. So in short, they took a perfect pair and couldn't copy it to another pair and now they adjusted my perfect pair and I'm screwed. Pain is unbearable! I'm heartbroken!!! Other question, how would I adjust the temple to not cut into my head if I can't bend them where you did? I see mine is different. I have a Steppers STS-10056 frame. Only the left side is digging into my head. Sorry for my long comment. I'm just so hard up for help.
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
Sorry it’s been so long, this one got buried on me. Alas here we are. This one is a bit tougher frame because of the thickness throughout. Ild be a bit concerned the lens itself may even be at fault here, as that type of frame is largely wrapped by the bevel of the lens, too much curvature there could be causing some of the problem. Thankfully it being one lens should be Abel to be manipulated out with the temple fit. Do what you can at the back edge where the plastic cover starts to alleviate the pressure, you may be able to bend it slightly out closer to the front, and then adjust the curve from there to fit snug and well 😎
@Lynn-14012 жыл бұрын
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 thanks so much!! I will try your advice, thanks. I actually went back in hopes that they can help me, but they just bent it with their hands which made it 10 times worse. Surely it's the optician that's at fault if specs are leaving indents? It's down to them to make sure that they are a correct fit before you leave! Opticians are obviously not doing their job properly if they send you out of the store with ill fitting specs.
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
Not always. In general yes, but sometimes more minor issues can hide at a first adjustment, frames can go out of adjustment, or relax to a more natural state and need a tweak, etc. Some people just think it's time to throw out the glasses at that point :) ... now if someone hands over the glasses and doesn't even check for fit eyeball or otherwise.... yeah thats 100% on the dispenser.

A proper adjustment for both sides :) Not many people are symetrical, and each side likely needs adjusted differently. Nothing more, nothing less. Proper fit supercedes any fancy trick hinge or material.

I've had Oakley glasses for years, original pitchman for most of this, they fit perfectly out of the box, changed to the Oakley tailpipe and it's digging into my right temple like hell, problem is there is a stylised twist in the arms making it extremely difficult to adjust. What are the temple pieces called taht do not have a separate piece eon them. My glasses have a seperate piece on the end of the original temple bar, and this piece is too wide so it pushes the skin inbetween my ear and skull upward. Looks terrible. I need to find glasses without this tip.
@ThatGlassesGuy032 жыл бұрын
You won't really see the names specifically listed like that in most cases, it comes down more to fit than that specific temple style, I have a customer that use to have a similiar issue. Adjustment helps a ton, but moving to a thinner frame was the ultimate resolution for him as well

I'm sorry this question isn't super relevant to this video. When you are testing frames with the fake lenses, will they be about the same weight as when you have your real plastic lenses in or are the real lenses noticeably heavier? Thank you, and I learned a lot from your videos!
@ThatGlassesGuy033 жыл бұрын
First of all thanks for watching! And always feel free to ask ANY questions! That's how I formulate new videos 😁. At any rate, on to your question! The simple answer is, yes... within a few grams for the average person and prescription in normal lens materials. For stronger prescriptions or some specialty materials, it can add a good bit of weight. At the upper tier, mfgs will estimate lenses to be about 2-3g heavier with rx for balancing of the frame when designing with ergonomics in mind 😁 (sort of like how Mazda builds the miata with a not quite 50/50 balance... until the driver is seated!)
