I had cut all vices out except nicotine. Figured it was fine to smoke all day if I wasn’t doing anything else. Today I’m 3 weeks clean of that too and my brain has just felt horrible. I think it has gotten so used to substances, that sobriety is not even bearable. You are right that alcohol damages the brain same way other vices do.

Good for you man. I never smoked, but dipped tobacco for several months now I have to get off these 3mg Zyn pouches. I've never been hooked on nicotine.
