The Guards do yell back, they even move their horses out of the way, and when the horse (or themselves) have had enough they back all the way into the sentry box It seems that the only way they will notice the warning signs is if they are on a 6 foot neon flashing billboard. I'm sorry when kids get bitten, but it's neither the horses nor the Guards' fault, it's the stupid parents. The inside Guards are roped off to stop the irritating tourists. What protection do the horses have? and they didn't even volunteer for the job. It should be illegal.

This is my take. I'm from the US. I'm a veteran of 23 years in the Army. This is a military facility. These guards and horses are on duty. The fact that they allow the public to step up and take pictures is a privilege not a right. I imagine the guards superiors could shut the whole thing down in a blink of an eye. Our guards at our military bases who check IDs to go through the gates are the same. To approach them, you must ask permission. You never just walk up to them and do whatever. They are armed with a loaded weapon and has the right to pull it out and use it if at anytime they feel threatened. And they will use it if someone doesn't obey their commands. The fact that they allow the public limited access is to build positive relations with the taxpayers who pay their salaries. But that doesn't mean the public can waltz up and do whatever. National security and safety take absolute precedence over the whims of the public. We do not have a monarchy in the US. But Britain chooses to. Then, the public must understand what their tax money is paying for. And behave appropriately. Tourists and visitors must understand that they are guests. There are limits to their access. But what I have seen in these videos makes me sick. My heart goes out to the horses and guards.

I am always appalled at how many people a. bother the horse, and b. put their kids in harms way. "come see the horsey sweetheart, and daddy will take a picture of it biting you." If you had to stand there for an hour with people putting their hands all over you and their fingers up your nose, you would bite too! The Guards apply for the job, the horses don't. We had a horse that would bite that hated every body but my son. He loved that boy. But I knew to never be out in the pasture if he was there. A horse can hurt you! We had one who was at least 16 hands tall that liked to twang the electric fence (when it was off) with his mouth. It was the funniest thing. He did funny things and we laughed at him a lot. He liked ice cream. He seemed to like the cold on his lips then he’d put his head back and stick his lips out. He loved my cat and would nuzzle her when she’d get up on the fence. My point is horses have personalities like people. Unpredictable.

IMO the parent (father?) should be charged with neglect as he clearly carried that young child up to the horse in spite of the warning signs. By that, I don't mean just the physical signs. The horse was just a horse and was - as is obvious - grumpy from all the "hand-on" behaviors of the crowd. Hands reaching for some part of the horse, its face or neck. I've been afraid some small child will be bitten upon watching my 1st videos of how these tourists act. Hopefully she was not hurt badly, but he really has no one to blame other than himself.

The horses are adorable, and I would also love to have a picture with the guard and the horse, BUT there is a sign warning of the danger. For respect of the guard and the horse who are not there as decorative items, but working I should not get too close to them.

I don't blame the horses for biting or kicking people. Everyday they are petted and drove nuts to relentless people wanting to pet them and more. Its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt.

I had an argument with another user aboud the danger of letting peole get so close. She accused me of being afraid of everything and that it as perfectly safe to be around the horses. That's what they're there for, dontcha know. If someone can watch a tiny child being bitten by one these huge animals and still think it's safe, they'e too damn naive to live.

You can tell the Guard felt bad and the poor baby! You can tell the Guard try to keep the horses calm and pay extra attention when they are surrounded by kids, but even when the kid is with an adult they can't relax.

The child was fine - not bitten, not hurt, just spooked. The mother, despite the criticism here, did exactly the right thing by laughing it off as she could see her child hadn't been hurt. "Cuddling" fear when it's not justified just encourages it, whether in a child or a dog, and you end up with children (and dogs) scared of their own shadow, terrified of going to the doctor or the dentist (or the vet). I'm not suggesting we should all be raising adrenalin junkies, but you can live life or just watch it on KZbin. Whether the father was wrong or not is debatable depending on if he'd watched how the horse behaved with others beforehand, which we simply don't know as it's not in the video. For all we know he may well have been watching carefully for a few minutes and made a balanced and informed decision - he certainly wasn't shocked or spooked when the horse nuzzled him and his child, which suggests he wasn't surprised at all. You can live life and take the odd, calculated risk or you can just sit on the sofa and watch it on KZbin.

Always put yourself in between an animal and your child! Especially with a horse that is clearly displaying its frustration, a horse you don’t know , and there are signs EVERYWHERE warning you that the horses may bite or kick! Some people are so absolutely clueless and thoughtless! These same people would allow their children to run through the parking lot at Tescos or run down the High Street well ahead of them!

I think a parent needs to be closer to the horse. Check things out first and then let the child decide if they want to pet the horse. Caution for the little ones, tetanus hurts!!
